Love the tip for tying the knot and threading your needle. Always forget that one. My MIL used to make prize winning hand applique quilts. I have a bed size pattern I like, but never get around to starting. Little projects are great practice to build my skills. Thank you!

I may have missed your saying this, but when you use "matching thread", do you match to the background or the section of the object you're stitching? (for example...white to match the background or blue to match the bird?). Thanks!!!!

If you're hand stitching, you generally match the thread to the section you're stitching, not the background; if you're machine stitching, you can match the thread to the section you're stitching or you can choose any color you want if you want the stitches to stand out (like if you want a decorative stitch to stand out, you could choose a color that really makes the stitches pop). I hope this makes sense! 🐦
