The great thing about Jill's rendition of her song is that she manages to make it so moving and sad, yet funny. I have seen her sing this live on two different occasions---she was amazing!
I saw a post where Mexican wrestlers were helping with mask enforcement at a Mexico City market. Immediately my mind went to this song. I had only heard Emma Roberts' version prior to tonight, and right away I loved it. I never knew of this performance. It's always special when a songwriter performs their own songs. For me it is natural to prefer the first version of most any song that I've heard, but I like Jill's version almost as much as Emma's...it's really good. I will be spending some time this week learning much more about Jill Sobule.
aww, me too. i loved this guy who loved someone else. and he had promised htat he would wait for me, but he broke that promise, and now he will never love me back, even though he used to.
I cannot believe any of you would even compare this to Emma Roberts. This is Jill Sobule we're talking about. Hearing some 8 year old say "You will never love me" doesn't come close to having the same power.
yes you can. boys can abuse and hurt girls even though they always say "boys arent allowed to hurt girls" no one listens. boys hurt girls all the time. some girls will never love some girls. so yeah, you can cover this song. not counting the part about the beauty, you could change that part. you can cover this song if you really wanted to.
