Join Jim Bakker and Uncle Henry with their special guest Colonel Sanders in this PTL Club episode from December 3rd, 1979! I apologize in advance for the audio on this video. I'm not quite sure why it uploaded to RU-vid like that.
according to his biography, he had plenty of successes early in life. not sure why there's this myth that he didn't accomplish anything until he was old.
This man has donated all of his profits when he owned KFC in Canada, to childrens hospitals all over Toronto Canada, where he spent the last 25 years of his life. Amazing man.
@@norafidahlahimin I'm just talking about Canada lol. He sold all his restaurants in the US and moved to Canada to live the rest of his life. Greater Toronto Area specifically
Colonel Sanders was a true gangster. Always going to KFC's to make sure that his product was being sold as advertised. RIP Colonel. You will live on in America's heart and soul forever.
Hats off to one of the most honest businessman ever...he never was about the competition....he was about proving to himself that he can and making people happy in the process :D
@@NinaSharee No he's not. He got in a gunfight with Sanders and he ended up hitting a civilian in the crossfires causing him to go to prison but no Sanders never killed him
He looked great, and he made it to 90. He died almost exactly a year later...on December 16, 1980. It's amazing how successful he became, having started out on a whim by just putting his dining room table out with 5 chairs and "trying to sell food to some people." Lol. He talks about it in a RU-vid video called "My First Restaurant."
I remember stopping for some chicken at a KFC many years ago and before leaving I checked my food and after noticing something wrong with the order telling the lady behind the counter "What would the Colonel say if he was standing here right now?" and she looked at me straight faced and said "You just missed him, he was here 20 minutes ago". I was stunned when she said that. I thought she was pulling my leg, but that was the kind of man Colonel Sanders was, checking up on all his restaurants, making sure the quality was always up to his standards. R. I. P. Colonel Sanders !
I met the colonel at a new KFC opening back in the 70's and he said he thought the mashed potato's tasted like wall paper paste..LOL LOL ( I like box mashed taters )
It was pretty decent audio, but just think, the band Boston released their first album the year before, and few people can touch that quality even now.
hi guys! I'm Russian. and this person has influenced my life. he influenced me to understand America, just as Tolstoy influenced you to understand Russia. these people are international. Tolstoy, Sanders, Alexandre Dumas, Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Confucius. These people are above nationalities and prejudices. We need to take an example from them
Unless you’re a western intellectual elite, the common man has not read Tolstoy, nor heard of him. No one understands Russia, not even Russia. See you when the unprovoked aggression against Ukraine is over.
The original Colonel Sanders was quite a guy. His charity foundations are still helping people today. He was so obsessed with serving good chicken that he would take franchises away from people that he didn't think were up to snuff. His cussing tirades against people were of legend. He would travel all over the country doing unannounced inspections. His original gravy was so good that his motto was "gravy so good you want to throw out the darn chicken". KFC changed the gravy recipe to the cheaper version that is still used today. He told the media that it tasted like wallpaper paste and was sludge. He was the first fast food to go world wide and people of that era says there was nothing better than a bucket of the Colonels chicken. The religious leaders were all friends of his because they loved how giving he was. He would often give church leaders free food as well. An amazing man who was adored by so many. He was so beloved that no matter how nasty the Colonel was to the new corporation, they wanted him as a spokesperson because they knew sales would suffer if he left.
Jim baker had a very entertaining show, it is a shame for what happened in later years. I am surprised that Tammy was not on the show when Col. Sanders was on there. Great interview, The Colonel was a very smart man that never gave up and never ever quit believing, Great show
Can you imagine what life was like for this man and anybody else in that time. Say when he was fifteen in 1905. In the country. Wow. Going on the train must have been a big deal.
I know that I am commenting to a 2011 YT video but..., Colonel Sanders was a good man, I did not know him at all but I was 16 years old at the time and worked at a Kentucky fried chicken restaurant in Texas, I made next to nothing working there of course (1980) but I do appreciate the job that I was offered (cook), and now that I am 55 I stop in at a KFC now and again and remember my job at that KFC in Texas to this very day! Thank you Colonel Sanders for the opportunity to be an employee at your establishment, I am so very grateful.
This is great thanks for putting up here on RU-vid.Gone but never forgotten Colonel Sanders, never to be forgotten every town has a KFC and you see his face on every one.God Bless The Colonel.
This man comes across as being astonishingly honest. How can one not admire that quality? 23:40 Notice how the Colonel never touches/gropes a single piece of chicken as he politely searches for a wing using just his eyes? That's because he's also an expert at *eating* chicken the right way.
I am glad I am here listening to the testimony from Colonel where really touched my heart. I am also happy for him! In the meantime, his life really inspired me!
I had KFC just a little while ago and it's still a good brand decades later. It would have been a real honor having the Colonel on your show back then. I've never watched the PTL show but I did sit and watch this interview only because they had the Colonel on it and it was great :)
Here I am watching this video after 12 years it was posted. What I admire is the sincerity of peoples at that time. Like many old timer they love talking and communicating. There is a great deal of lessons for those who give an ear. Such a devoted Christians. May thier soul rest in peace in heaven.
An Amazing man and an American Original - Truly a national treasure. (A lot of people don't know that Mr. Duncan Hines first came to fame because he traveled the country by car for work.. and kept detailed notes on hotels and restaurants. He had some very nice things to say about Col. Sanders! He eventually published a guide book from all theses notes which became indispensable for early road-trippers and business travelers.)
In 1975 i was ten years old and on a flight to Toronto, Canada with my older brother. Colonel Sanders was on the same flight about 5 seats behind us. He was really dressed like he is in his image.
I hope I can meet him even just on my dream... Some people said, KFC was the first American franchise restaurant in my country, Indonesia, since 1970's... I still 💗Love it💗
@@judyervin9 they tried to sue him, because he was caught saying that He HATED KFC, because none of it is his original recipe. they lost the case of course lol there are actually story's that coronal would go to random KFC restaurants, try the chicken, and then jump over the counter yelling and cursing at them about how they made it wrong, and then would show them the right way to make it . XD
The was a scene in the movie The eyes of Tammy Faye. That movie followed so closely with things that happened with Tammy and Jim Bakker. It is a great movie Jessica Chastain deserves and Oscar.
I love his chicken, Best yet. From the first time we ate KFC 🍗 we continued going back and eating it again. Col. Sanders has a great testimony. PTL revealed so many miracles and great things God was doing no wonder they were so hated. 🙌 👏👏👏 I would like to have a big box of it right now.
Whe footage is filmed with analog film instead of magnetic tapes, the quality is incredible, you can get a movie filmed in the 1940s and remaster to 4K.
