Jim Cornette on Hook or Dominik Mysterio: Whose Future Looks Better? 

Just watched Dom racing a nascar and he legit said ‘I learnt this one from my cell mate who used to be a getaway driver’ with a straight face 💀💀💀😂. I love him.

If you asked this question at this time last year, everyone would’ve laughed if you said Dominik. But my God, what a difference a year makes in character development.

Dominic without a doubt. He has improved leaps and bounds as a performer and character. Hook is at the exact same spot where he started.

Dominik has also got really good at selling. He didn't have believability as a babyface but as a chicken shit heel he's EXCELLENT. His youth and undeveloped body are actual assets in this role. Hook looks great and can do cool moves but has no character, isn't good at selling, and has an underdeveloped sense of self.

AEW booking would have probably ruined Cena, Orton, and Batista. Every time someone gets over organically Tony Khan gives them the hook and pulls them back like Scorpion

More raw talent in hook, but Doms career is in much better hands.

Dominik has spent time working on his character, he works the crowd well, he's funny at times. He's miles ahead of Hook

Dom is paired with Finn Balor, Damien Priest and MAMI. Hook is paired with. . . Jungle Boy. Dom has a backstory that we've seen since he was a child. Hook is a novelty. Dom has faced guys like Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar. Hook hasn't even looked at upper midcarders. Dom has the support of the Evil Empire. Hook just happens to live in Tonykhanistan. You be the judge.

Dominik's progressed more since the prison angle than Hook has since his original debut. Dom has minimal offense but he has the cowardly heel selling down pretty well, and he finally found a character. Hook is all offense, no selling, and no character.

Dominik has benefited from having multiple story arcs since being on TV. While it's been rough at the start, he's growing more and more comfortable in his new found role. The dynamic he has developed with each member of JD is absolutely fantastic. I don't recall ever seeing a stable where the stooge of the group is the focal point but we've seen two great stories around Sami and Dominik respectively concurrently which is a lot of fun.

Since his debut, hook has been over with the crowd. However, the questionable and inconsistent nature of AEW booking can only constrain his momentum. Dominik’s run has been solid and consistent from tagging with his dad to aligning with judgement day! Out of the two, id say Dominick mysterio has a bright future of used correctly!

Dom is killing it right now that he is actually outstaging finn and priest in judgment day.

Hook’s debut was incredible. There was anticipation for him because he just stayed in the background as a mute, to the point of becoming a meme. Then he finally comes out to great licensed music, and turns out to have a great unique move set and tons of charisma. Since then it’s been meh

Dominic has the better developmental system around him. That's why he is coming along quicker than Hook. I think Daddy Taz knows that - that's why Hook is being brought along slower. Both of these guys though, should be top stars within a decade.

I really like Hook, people his size are usually trying to break their necks & rupture their spines. A guy that's the second coming of the suplex machine in this generation is welcomed, & I think the gimmick he has as a Taz 2.0 type is going to dominate when he puts on more muscle.

AEW killed Hook when they paired him with Danhausen

Dom is nearly the finished article in terms of heel work. Selling, bumping, all AAA class. In ring, you can see the potential and WWE is pairing him with the veterans who will get that potential to become finished article as well. Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, his own father, all are working with Dom constantly and I have to imagine, constantly instructing him on how the game is played and how to be that in ring guy. It is honestly a career I look forward to watching.

I feel like it's too early to tell, but Dominick has had the chance to show a lot more personality, especially since he became "prison Dom". Hook meanwhile has been doing pretty much the same thing since he debuted

Dominik gets the biggest reaction when he comes out, he just needs to figure out his wrestling style. By physical ability, Hook does have a great upside too.

Just imagine Hook being in NXT with HHH in charge and you'll already see a MASSIVE difference in him

Definitely Dominik. Being the son of one of the biggest legends in wrestling history, plus being booked in the biggest wrestling company in the world alongside doing a pretty decent angle with the best women's wrestler in their company. I think Hook has the talent to build a great wrestling career but it won't be as easy. It helps having Taz as his dad. While not the legend Rey is, he's still a pretty big name in the industry, which can help push Hook, but he really needs to be booked in better stuff.

I find con dom's arrogance and unearned spot in the company really compelling and very funny! The recent segment when he took a glam slam shouting 'Mami!' I thought that was great.

Listened to Dom in Keepin 100 with Disco and Konnan, the dude is taking advice from legends and does not think he knows it all. Good trait for a future star.

Dom has better creative behind him while Hook has more potential.

Imagine having a guy as over as Hook and the first thing you do with him is put him in a goofy comedy team with Danhausen of all people? Why would anyone do that?

WWE has played into Dominik looking like a little kid making him a slimy heel, Hook looks normal among the AEW midgets and can’t be taken seriously as a threat by anyone outside the IWC.

DM no doubt, he had go away heat and now he's a great heel. He's come along way, should be commended.

Dom has the added advantage of one day becoming Rey Mysterio III. Hook, he has a chance to be Tazz II but Paul Heyman isn't there to book him.

AEW couldn't push a shopping trolley. Dominic looks like a completely different guy when he was tag teaming with his dad.

Dominik. As an AEW fan I am forced to accept TK's month-long attention span on wrestlers before getting bored or dropping a storyline. Unless you have a belt (and sometimes not even then), you largely get forgotten for months at a time.

This time last year I would have said Hook. Now it's Dominique. He is a surprisingly great heel who seemed like he'd be a better babyface before the turn. But he's on fire as a heel now and is making a better villain. That 🔥

Incredibly how this video is only 4 months old and the outlook has changed so significantly.

To be fair, Dominik has a better lineage and more of a legacy to live up to. But, I think Hook still has a ton of potential as well.

I noticed Dom has grown his hair out a bit, almost like a mullet, almost like Eddie. I have heard rumors of Rey vs. Dom at WM, it would be cool if Dom started emulating Eddie, saying HE was his REAL father. WWE doesn't call back to old angles very often, this could be a cool one to revisit, especially considering it was kind of terrible back then.

The moment they put Hook with Dan Hausen it was over for Hook.

Dom by far and I say that having seriously hated him/expecting him to washout as recently as like 7-8 months ago. He's getting better as a worker too.

Dominik's future will be brighter long term IMO. His character work is great. The stuff he can learn in the ring will come with more time. IDK about Hook, sadly. AEW is weird like that.

"Sexual Harassment case from Rhea Ripley" 😂🤣 if Dom ever goes back to jail, the prisoners would surely cower in fear of his presence. The guy is a hardened criminal, changed by the worst prisons for a long time! One thing that has been clear now, the Bloodline and Judgment Day storylines were defined not by their stellar 5 star matches, but the stories behind it. And the WWE has been consistently praised because of it. Just shows the essence of pro wrestling: make the viewer tune in for more.

There's a lower ceiling for someone like Hook, who's gimmick is just "I don't say anything I just beat people up" at least they let Dominik on the mic. It's easier to put him in more storylines.

Tony seems to using Hook and Danhausen to help get his favorites over. Jungle Boys popularity seemed to take a hit especially after he did his impersonation of CM Punk

Hooks downfall was teaming himself with danhausen, demeaning his initial push and stagnant since. Dom has nailed it with the situation he’s in, whilst feuding with his dad.

I think the upside as of now is always higher in the WWE. The opportunity that’s available with the size of the company always offers more upside because there is so much more chances to work more and get better. When Dom started he was on TV of course but he also was getting to work house shows with experienced veterans like Edge and Cena and the like who help him get better and provide great advice on how he can improve. You develop your craft and get better by working often and working with people who are better than you are and help teach you. The struggle for someone like Hook is that even if he has potential he isn’t able to work enough in AEW to truly reach it. Someone starting out like he has been needs to be working a lot and getting better. But with how AEW is set up now that isn’t available to him. He only gets to work if he’s on weekly tv or a RU-vid show and that just isn’t enough to reach his full potential. It’s a tough balance because there’s a much better system to improve in WWE through NXT, the PC and house shows but the trade off is your a small fish in an ocean to be able to rise up. But your chance to get better is so much greater with that system available to use. In AEW you still struggle to rise up because it’s such a large roster for the television time available but you’re less likely to get the boot. But I just have to think that the lack of a house show schedule and/or TV time presents a big challenge for someone to get the experience they need to improve. You hear from so many people in wrestling how important it is in development to wrestle often, with someone more talented than you, and in front of a crowd to get better and that just isn’t something available in AEW. The best chance you have for that is being allowed to work independents but that isn’t the talent pool to get better with like you have working house shows in WWE. So to me that will be the difference in how far these guys go. Dom is learning and working with people with tons of experience every night - that’s a huge advantage over someone who isn’t getting that same opportunity.

Hook is probably ahead on purely in-ring ability, but the Ex-Con Dom gimmick is so ridiculously entertaining I have to go with Dom.

ConDom is a STAR in the making; one day he'll put some mass on and will look the part; his current role is just mwuah amazing.

Dominic reminds me of early Christian where I want to see more of him but I also want him to get hit by a car. His antics amuse me, but I also want to see him get beat up. Although, to be fair, early Christian already had lots of experience by the time he came into WWE and was a much better wrestler than Dominic at the sane length of time in their respective WWE careers. Once he’s more experienced, I really want to see Dominic team up with Vickie Guerrero and change his name to Dominic Guerrero. I feel like that tandem would be amazing, but maybe Vickie has too much goodwill to get the kind of heat she got in WWE.

Dominik gets genuine heat like a true heel. He is the perfect weasely heel.

Without a doubt Dom. In terms of sheer ability I'm always going to give it to the son of Eddie Guerrero 😁 Also, Dom is hella entertaining on the mic. Hook.... Yeah, no.

Hook has to tell stories and to do that he needs to do promos. It's fine early on to just show off his aura and do squash matches. But that gets old because it's all the same. Tony doesn't seem to care because he thinks that guys can get over with just moves and matches, but then he doesn't care if there is a face or a heel in the match itself.

Hook has no personality, atleast not yet. I was one of the ones confused when dom went heel but I must say he’s had some of the most entertaining segments and moments since going heel and I love his fake prison persona. Dom as of right now and his work is great it’s like watching a bigger version of mysterio.

Dominik is paired with and facing established superstars, main eventers and stuff. He's improved so much too, being a cocky heel is great for him. Actually has a personality. Hook is being paired with a goofy jobber, hasn't changed, doesn't talk, is being matched against jobbers. For Hook to "grow", he needs out of AEW - or AEW needs a proper booker.

Hook has that real talent and his work looks more legit. But Dom's future is a lot brighter cause he's in wwe. My fear is that hook won't be pushed right and his competition will be trash. But I really like hook in the ring and Dom is a natural heel. But only time will tell about Hook and Dominic Mysterio in ring careers.

Bro Dom's last name is Mysterio and people barely know Hook's dad is Tazz. WWE surrounded Dom with a group of people who've done nothing but elevated him. Hook doesn't have that luxury and Jungle boy ain't going help him. Hook is more talented but his lack of luxury and consistency booking wise will hold him back.

I worked on that hurricane that took out Lake Charles. I was doing powerline work for linetech . Energy does have some characters and greed is definitely there but I promise you the ones ACTUALLY working on those powerlines aren't taking it lightly it's back breaking work. And I was working while my lights were out and my family was suffering too. Most of the guys were. So jim please show a little appreciation. Highlining is not for everyone trust me.

Part of the problem with Hook is it seems very unlikely that he'll be booked anywhere but the midcard position he is currently in.

If they slow build junglehook till revolution....they could go over the acclaim as a 'future of the company' angle. It wouldnt kill the acclaim and build hook up

Hook has been doomed since they gave him the moniker "cold-hearted handsome devil." He's one of the few that got over organically in AEW, and per usual, they beat it into the ground until he wasn't special anymore.

If Hook was in WWE yes big time because even guys like Johnny Gargano is getting MASSIVE PUSH Hook would literally not only wrestle circles around some of the WWE guys but is captivating in his style and demeanor.

I remember when Hook got popular briefly with the 40 year old single dads who cheered for him in the aew audience. If they aren't messaging young Julia Hart on instagram asking for her used socks, they are probably putting a shirtless Hook poster on their wall.

I hadn't watched WWE programming (other than the Zayn/Bloodline clips on RU-vid) for well over 2 years until the recent Royal Rumble. A few people really popped out to me in the men's Royal Rumble match and one was Dominick. I couldn't believe how much better he was than the last time I'd seen him and his booking was near perfect in the match as well. I like Hook but Dominick is miles ahead of him in character developement.
