Can’t wait for Vice’s “I Was There” interview in 5 years, with Jim Cornette talking about the AEW World Title match between Orange Cassidy and Luigi Primo. It’ll probably take place at the Louisville Metro Correction center after Corny gets arrested for beating Primo and Pockets to death, but it should be interesting.
Ill contribute to his defense gofundme 😅 b/c itll take every dollar for one of brians friends + Steven P New to get him off with a reduced sentence and/or parole 😅
Healthy? lol you must have some low standards for what healthy is. He's 61 and looks like a gristly chicken leg. That is not what a healthy person looks like, you can say he looks 'better' than he once did, but not healthy.
@@patrickaddy9172 Russo is looking a lot healthier than Jim tbf and with all Jims pent up hate he will probably die a horrible death, or a massive heart attack.
Kaufman was tailor made for this. He intrinsically got it, because as Man on the Moon illustrated, his entire life was a work. Only a select few can claim to have known the real Andy, and even they admit they can't be 100% sure either. His whole thing was "leave em not knowing what's real and what's not" to the point he had the bit with Zmuda to literally go out that same exact way. He made people question his own death, of course with not much of a glimpse behind the curtain he'd figure out exactly what they were going for and how they went about doing it. Its kinda hard to figure any other celebrity this would have worked with in the same way. I mean, Jarrett told a story in the Tales of the Territories that they fooled Bill Watts! And maintained it for decades and well after kayfabe became more like a loose suggestion. I gotta think if it were anyone else but Kaufman they'd have spilled long before Lawler ended up doing it. I also think if he were still alive they'd still be insisting it was legit.
@@goby1764 Blame conservative lawmakers and their boomer voting base. Weed should be legal everywhere. The taxation alone would help bolster the economy. Besides, weed is far less harmful than alcohol, so it’s ridiculously hypocritical to outlaw one but not the other
really liked both the Kaufman vs Lawler Tales from the Territories episode and "I Was There" segments. I didn't get to see the Kaufman - Lawler stuff growing up but can appreciate it now. I think Kaufman vs the 300 lbs woman was my favorite skit they did in all of that. also, while watching those two episodes, i started thinking that MJF reminds me a bit of Kaufman as well. just the lengths at which the people would go, especially Kaufman in upholding kayfabe and blurring the lines was great. one of the things i liked was how lawler and company were trying to figure out how to squeeze every dime from that angle and how Kaufman was up for it all. there's one part where Jerry Jarrett talks about how Bill Watts called him up about being proud of upholding the honor of wrestling then Jarrett calling Watts a mark and hanging up or something like that. That was a good one. And Jim mentioning how some people thought Foxy was Sapphire was pretty funny. but the thing that stood out to me besides the Kaufman/Lawler parts was just how much weight Jim lost. holy cow he's gotten much thinner. but bravo. he looks much healthier than a few years back.
@@angelquintana131 it’s unfortunate considering he passed on what would have been Scott’s 64th birthday! The wrestling world is offering support and condolences!
And thoughts and condolences to those families that lost someone in the holocaust. As well as the families who lost someone who lost someone in the holocaust 🙏🙏
I know it wont happen but would be amazing if WWE Network done something like this, they have all the classic tape library's would be great to hear Jim talking about some old feuds on it.
You know they list Sapphire is dead on Google but she is still alive and she lives in San Jose California. She just had a stroke and she is poor unlike the rest of the Rhodes family. They should help her out with some money.
First off condolences to Kevin Nash on the passing of his son. On Scott Hall’s birthday of all days. That’s just awful. Thoughts are with him and his wife. The Kaufman vs Lawler angle was great. Kaufman understood the concept of wrestling better than most of the modern wrestlers in Aew lol. This “I was there” episode as well as the territories episodes so far have been really good. I’m a big fan of Memphis wrestling.
Definitely, you can tell Nash is suffering, but goddamn he's a champ for being able to talk about it on the podcast. I left a joke that he exposed the end credits business when he spoiled Sean Oliver's ending credits.
Shane O'Mac wanting his father to buy the UFC is kind of like Vinny Junior wishing his father had accepted Andy Kaufman into the business. I wonder if VJM ever disagreed with Jesse McMahon in a similar way....
Big dust SHOULD’VE changed his gear to sapphire purple once homegirl came through givin Dusthy that ol Dusthy cooch It was all Hokie anyway rhodes would still have been over
I kind of hate when ppl think different Black ppl are the SAME like an ignorant GameStop employee who said to me that Carl Johnson (from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) is in the beginning of GTA III. That's 8-Ball. He blew up his own hands. CJ never blew up his own hands.
Kaufman vs Lawlere is probably the most over-rated feud of all time. Kaufman wasn't funny, neither was Lawler and Lawler was not much of a worker unless you consider lots of punching to be good work. Then there's the whole silly pulling the strap down schtick. Anyways, I never thought much of either guy or of Memphis wrestling (Lance Russell aside) so I never rated this feud.
You obviously weren't there at the time, and trying to understand from youtube clips will never work. For years and years, nearly everyone in the Memphis territory was glued to the TV every week to see what would happen. Lawler was always the top star (whether as a heel or a babyface). Working back then wasn't about flips and kicks or being a member of Cirque du Soleil. It was about getting people to believe and care and buy tickets to see what would happen live. Lawler consistently did that for decades. As far as the strap goes, it was no more silly than Hulking up or the People's Elbow. Hulk even took Hulking Up from his time in Memphis because he saw that people were into it. Regarding Kaufman not being funny, we are in agreement. I never got it.
I hope Jim checks out what Rene Dupree is up to. He has a podcast and just amazing stories. Paul London is f'n awesome. Be cool if one day they can all meet up.
