I've watched a few Bockwinkle interviews. He said he was begging Verne to put the belt on Hogan and he wouldn't do it. Verne would rather wear it himself lol.
Technically, Orndorff was drafted by my New Orleans Saints in like the 12th round as a tight end/fullback. That’s back when there was 20 rounds of picks and I’m not sure if there was such a thing as rookie free agents. Orndorff didn’t made it past training camp with the Saints or the Bears, the following year. He did play in the World Football League of the 1970’s.
Orndorff was drafted by the new Orleans saints but was on the practice squad and never played in a game. He played for the WORLD FOOTBALL LEAGUE not usfl
Re the idea of a 4'11" midget wrestler: WWF briefly employed a young man named Dana Carpenter to work some TV midget tag matches. He had to have been just about 5 feet tall because ref Gilberto Roman was short and was only a couple inches taller than Carpenter.
Secreting is actually accurate. It's just being read wrong. They didn't mean it in terms of a "secretion." They meant it as a verb based on "secret." So, yeah. Hiding.
It was the biggest one-time mistake in the history of wrestling. To top it off, the match where they pulled the Dusty Finish(sort of) and took the title off Hogan, didn’t make Bockwinkel look strong at all.
Jim is a living wrestling encyclopaedia and archive. It's amazing how much he knows. I wonder if anyone has the breadth and depth of knowledge about wrestling, that he does
@REUBEN KUKAR I think you might need to check that. Corny is constantly correcting meltzers wrestling history lol. On top of that corny was actually in the business and meltzer is just a dirt sheet writer. John arezzi is kind of a douche but he is actually pretty knowledgeable and while I don't think he knows quite as much as Jim I think he comes pretty close.
@@jeffreyheffner908 well both are specialists in different fields Jim knows more abt the wrestlers bookings who faced who and who went over Whereas dave knows more abt the statistical side of wrestling like gates attendance bookings ratings tv deals as well as in depth knowledge abt the business like jim So i think dave knows more
I saw an AWA world title match in Oakland in 1981, Verne Gagne defending against Jerry Blackwell, and it was impossible for me to suspend disbelief. And it wasn't because of Blackwell because HE could go!
Let put this into perspective, I respect Verne Gagne, he is a B.O.A.T. in my view, but when Ric Flair is attempting to go for his first World Title and Verne Gagne, the man who trained Flair is winning the World Title for The Ninth Time, certain people still wonder why Verne Gagne is not universally beloved by his employees, lol.
Jim Cornette should learn to,start criticise himself with the level of creativity he have and a great booking mind,,that he couldnt have found a rich billionaire like Vince or Shahid to keep his promotion running
he shut SMW down so that Rubin _didn't_ lose any money the only person that ended up losing any money from it was Jim himself considering the millions of dollars he's made since, it was the right decision
I feel like moxley has a lot of creative control over his stuff and he be spending too much time in gcw doing that hardcore stuff and he brings it to aew also
AEW fans love Moxley in the same way Japanese fans loved Abdullah the Butcher. He stands out for not being like the rest of the heroes. Unfortunately in 2022 Moxley is not unique and those around him are not heroes. If they made him feel more special he would be better off than now with his cult following.
