Brian was right, I watch AEW with my father and when he saw Kenny, he really don't know who he is even though Justin Robert mention he accomplishment in New Japan. The problem with AEW is they so lazy or don't make video packages and storyline to tell who the wrestler is so they average fans who don't watch other wrestling promotions can connect with.

Sonny should use the name Sonny Vegas. Fit right in. I didn't get the jacket reference by Jim but once he discussed Jim ross I finally got the reference.

To clarify, Jim Ross started calling Sonny "she" and "her" of his own accord. He got a lot of criticism for misgendering, so he asked Sonny if it was a problem. Sonny basically said "whatever, it doesn't bother me". Which seems to me like JR was (somewhat understandably) confused by gender identity and the politically correct approach on the topic, thought that's how to refer to an effeminate gay man, and Sonny just didn't want to be the one to tell someone they respect that he'd gotten something wrong. This is JR doubling down on a mistake because nobody wants to correct him. Not AEW forcing him to call Sonny 'her' or 'she'. Much like nobody told him how to refer to Jungle Boy as "Jungle Jack".

Yep. I do agree that AEW has forgotten about folks who don't follow pro wrestling. Even casual fans or people who don't watch BTE and get all the in jokes, references and angles that are built there. It doesn't seem like they're interested in really growing themselves...which is weird. They're pandering to their core audience (which I consider to be). I didn't like the Justin Roberts (George Hamilton lol) announcement, just announce Kenny normally damn it. So far a year into their existence and they've done the opposite of what their original stated mandate. Jim, while I don't agree with everything he says, he sure is right about a lot.

I liked Brian's point about catering to casual fans. Say what you want about the quality of the PG era, but gearing the product towards general audiences was a smart move for WWE (in concept, not execution).

Yeah, because mentioning a wrestlers accolades to make him seem like a big deal and having girls in swimsuits are for their already existing audience /s... this is exactly how you present the product to draw a new audience. If I never saw Kenny Omega and happened to flip to it I'd think: "This guy must be sort a big deal and probably gets lots of babes." The smarks like it because his character is a delusional heel who thinks he's a baby face. I disagree, I think this worked on both levels.

Janella has exceptional hair ... that's his accomplishment. As much as I loved the Omega segment, Jim makes a great point that no one that hasnt followed Omega would know any of these things or what they are. It isn't going to draw new people to the show.
