Jim Croce - Bad Bad Leroy Brown | REACTION 

Yes Jim Croce was part of my life. I saw him in concert. His song writing was incredible and loved every one of them. This song was number one on the Billboard top 100. And ranked number 2 for the whole year in 1973. His friend and fellow musician accompanied him Maury Muehleisen. Check out his son C. J Croce he is great.

I loved his song Time in a Bottle. Which hit #1 after he died in a plane crash - the same year as this performance. He had many hits in a short amount of time before he died.

Jim had some great lyrics (especially love the jig saw bit) and had as much fun performing as his audience did listening. It's hard to sit still to this one! He also did some lovely ballads like "I've got a name", "Operator" and "I'll have to say I love you". As often seems to happen his song "Time in a bottle" was prophetic ("you never seem to have enough time to do the things you want to do"). He died in a plane crash at 30 years old. Hi Chad. Jim hosted this episode of the Midnight Special in June of 1973. The whole episode was awesome. This is from the very first season of the Midnight Special. This sounds like one of the best bar songs ever. He could get a crowd going, but his songwriting was much more diverse. Sitting beside him is wonderful Maury Muehleisen. Maury was an outstanding guitar player, and his finger picking is extraordinary. Often he and Jim would both pick, but the high strings were all Maury. When Jim and Maury performed together as a duo, Jim called Maury "his band." Tommy West (also a producer) is playing piano here. The Midnight Special guys had Jim scheduled to host again, but before he could, he and Maury and others were killed in a plane crash in September of 1973. I remember my own sadness at the loss. His album "Life and Times" was still delivering hits. A lot of the songs in this MS episode were from it. Then, later in the year "I Got a Name" (the album) was released after their deaths. Tommy West was not on the plane. I listen with joy for the music, but always remembering these two musical partners who were lost.

Haven't heard this for years but its amazing how the lyrics came back to me. I'll probably be humming it for the rest of the week! 😅 It's a great song that makes people want to move. My favourite of his is 'I have to say I love you in a song'. Brings back lots of lovely memories. Such a tragedy for Jim to have lost his life so young. Thanks Chad x

I remember this song from when I was a kid. Don't think I listened to all of the lyrics as a kid, or maybe I didn't understand all of them back then, lol, but I understood them in high school. The music has you tapping your foot or nodding your head all of the time. It's just one of those can't sit still, but also has a story songs. Not all story songs have that.

There are many great songs. I haven't seen anyone mention "I Got a Name." It's a must, but my favorite remains "One Less Set of Footsteps." Jim and Maury sound like one guitar picking machine.

I love Jim Croce. Time in a Bottle is a lovely song.

Croce did some songs that just brought real emotions and then there were his ones with a comedy feel. Even after all those years it is always so good to hear them again )

This is a fun song I’ve heard many times before, though only the studio recording. I’m pretty sure I’ve only ever heard this song or this song and one other from him before. Thanks for, yet, another great marathon! I look forward to the next one!

They're that guy playing guitar with Jim crochet there.He is a regular part of the show.Hammond Jim played together constantly on songs now sparse the backup singers.I don't know if you had any of those but this guy gets single things.So maybe he's the one you're hearing coming in and this song.
