He would've been super Big... But he said after his last tour he was giving it up. He was tired of going on the road. Maybe go back to teaching, be home more with his family. The Beatles gave up touring and just recorded. I know hes no Beatle but he was really good and everyone loved him. He could have just recorded. 🤎💥

My favorite song by Croce. "And I carry it with me like my daddy did. But I'm livin' the dream that he kept hid" is such a powerful line, for me. The odd thing about this song is that it was not written by Jim Croce. The team of Gimbel and Fox were responsible for the song's creation. But, like all his other work, Jim Croce made it his song.

The duo Jim Croce and Maury Muehleisen were quite a pair. Jim's voice and Maury's guitar blended so well. It's too bad they perished in a plane crash in 1973 early in their musical careers. Photographs And Memories and New York's Not My Home are terrific songs too.

Hey Harri .. You simply must listen to Jim Croce's "Lover's Cross" soon .. It's such a poignant and relatable break-up song .. The melody and the lyrics are both just wonderful .. You will really enjoy it .. I promise ! .. Wayne

Yes, yes, yes! Many of Jim's songs didn't get much airplay here in the UK, even though 'Time in a Bottle' and 'I'll have to say I love you in a song' were minor hits. I heard 'Lovers Cross' on the John Peel radio show late one night, listening under the bedclothes when I should have been asleep! I was too young to have the money to be buying LPs, and probably too young to really understand the lyrics, but the beauty of it knocked me out, and I never forgot it, even though I didn't hear it again for decades ... You'll love it Harri! Please listen, you'll be so glad you did!

For someone who died so incredibly young, there is an incredible depth and variety to plumb. His songs were so varied, his tone swung so much from absolutely silly fun to social commentary to worlds in-between, and then again to love, and then back again to spiritual things at large ... there was so much really there but also so much left to give ...

For me, I got that reaction from my late mother. Being her first child to purchase property. The satisfaction in her eyes patted my on the back and her half grin of approval was enough to let me know how proud she was of me. She was basically a single parent to 5 kids. Struggled profusely along the way. A life long renter. I think I made her feel good which made me feel good.

How interesting. When I was a child I thought it was about California -- moving down the highway, rolling down the highway -- multi-lane freeways were still fairly new here back in the early 70's. This is a theme song to a movie about moonshiners and running it in NC back in the day. For you good Brits, moonshine is illegal whiskey distilled and sold without government regulation. It is very endemic to Appalachia and southern US. Runners of moonshine eventually became well-known racers, which led to NASCAR and stock car racing. This song, I believe, was written about one of them, Junior Johnson.
