@ ~ Honesty pays. (It rarely does though) I don't care for Bernard Manning's comedy one little bit, but he always kept his private life out of the gutter press, never was there any hint of him conducting himself in innappropriate ways, or groping up the girlys. He's always been a solid, working class family man, and even though he's as rich as a bloody Tory these days, he's always paid his taxes, always kept his big gob shut as soon as he walks off the stage, and he's never laboured under the delusion that he's anything other than a big fat bastard, telling old jokes for tons of cash. And even though he's had every reason to join the dodgy Tory voting investment portfolio wielding tax dodging ex-pat gobshite brigade, he never did. And even though the only political position he's ever publicly taken has been 'politically incorrect' you just KNOW he's never voted Tory. Or given his missus a slap. Or been sexually inappropriate in any way, or even unfaithful to his wife over the decades of their marriage. And that says a whole fucking lot for the man in my opinion. He's still making people laugh to this day. Fuck knows how he does it, I can't manage more than an occasional snigger at any of his material. I'll say this much for Manning, he does have really precise and very innate sense of comic timing, nearly to the magnitude of Les Dawson's. And that a considered observation of his actual artistic technique and delivery, NOT an opinion on his material. . If you were to ask for my opinion on his material, truthfully I'd have to say that a lot of his stuff is even older than Davidson's. The HUGE difference being, he delivers it with a lot more genuine empathy for his audience, attention to the details of his art, and an ego that never gets so big he thinks that . . IDK, the poor old British Armed Forces need him to fight for the public support he thinks they ought to be getting. I'm from a Military family myself, and I know a lot of servicemen, some still serving, and they literally cringe with embarrasment when some twat who only ever fought his own wifey, starts banging on about what bleedin' 'eroes they are, and how bravely they 'soldier on' and do their duty for Queen an' Cuntery, not money, or nuffin' . . . artless twat. Maybe if we judged people, not by what they say on stage, but on how they conduct themselves in their 'private' lives, offstage, or in the public eye, on 'chat' shows like this, opining about shit they know less than fucking NOTHING about, or how important they think their opinions are, or on how facile and crass they sound when they bang on about "Our brave boys" like they had any fucking idea what they're flapping their gums about, then who knows? Davidson might still have a TV show that people still watched, or actually BE that 'much loved' British comedy stalwart he seems to think he is. Like (although I hate to say it) Bernard Manning is. My only issue with your post though really, is that . . . comparing JD to Bob Monkhouse is a bit shit. Shame on you.

Just spoke to a Black friend who is one of 6 Babymothers by this one Black Guy and his brother has " 14 or 15" children out there !..Not bad "20 or 21" kids all to Single Mothers all of whom will be brought up without a Father Figure in their life and having 6,7 or 8 children and being a Single Parent is NOT UNcommon in the Afro-Caribbean Community. Sadly, this is all too real and not a joke and it has consequences for Society, in general. TOTALLY different to Asian and Chinese and Jewish Families who, invariably, DO have a Father Figure to lend emotional and practical and financial support to the Mother unlike 80%+ of the Black London Community.....you never know having experienced this for over 50 years ad infinitum, ad nauseum " just" might make peope who grow up around this Community a little racist...
