My understanding is she married him because her foster parents advised it and gave her an opportunity to get out on her own. From 5:37 to 5:41, I never saw this movie, and this is the first time I’ve ever heard her sound like this-normal, not the overly breathy, unnatural way of speaking they forced her into. If you watch the 1950 film, "Clash By Night", Marilyn uses her own voice in this movie and she is amazing in the film. Very appealing and charming with great acting on her part. It seems she started with the "whispery baby voice" in the films that followed these two movies.
