Jim Norton, Jay London and Jessica Delfino in studio, featuring a phoner from Henry Rollins. Henry begins by talking about his travels. Jimmy pipes in a few times with his, “My friend was like, then I was like” interview shtick, and Henry doesn’t catch on. Jay pipes in with a few one-liners that get crickets. When Opie asks Henry if he would ever commit to comedy, Jimmy takes offense with Henry’s response where Henry seemingly downplays comedians and comedy. Later, Henry makes it worse by implying he’s a bigger fan of Richard Pryor than any of them and it sets Jimmy off because Pryor was one of Jimmy’s biggest influences.
Jimmy decides to test Henry’s knowledge of Richard Pryor, and Henry makes it clear that he respects comedians and loves comedy. Henry explains what he meant, and he hilariously doesn’t apologize to Jimmy. They move past it, and end up having an interesting debate about comedy where they talk about Bill Cosby, Lenny Bruce, Bill Hicks, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Andrew Dice Clay, etc., and realize they actually have similar taste in comedy. Then Henry shares some inspirational thoughts about how people should deal with depression. After the call, Jimmy explains why he was initially upset with Henry’s comments, and they all have a laugh about the fact that Jay’s jokes didn’t go over well with Henry.
