Now I can see that it was a divine gift that he had left for all of humanity who can so easily relate across the lyrics to his songs. Brad's son Jakob is all grown up now and has his own band. Search Jakob Nowell LAW. He sounds so much like his dad at times... It's beautiful. I've waited roughly 18 years to hear that voice and it completely blew me away.
I've been an opiate addict for 15 years, sober for 2 years, and Bradley's music has helped me so much. We miss you Bradley! Your music will live on in our hearts forever, and we are so lucky to have had you on this earth as long as we did. RIP Brad

So little is known about Brad the person. Heroin isn't a party drug--it's something you use when your soul hurts due to severe trauma, mental illness or other serious issues. When/where did he first try it? What was his motivation for doing so? His upbeat party music is a thin veil for something darker, as you can hear in lyrics like those in 'Badfish' & 'Pool Shark'. We know so much more about Joplin, Cobain & Hendrix's backgrounds than we do this guy.
That says it all. Take note. Brad has the coolest legacy ever and yet his father would exchange it to have him back. Tells you what’s really important in life.
Bradley left a impact on anyone who has ever listened to his songs, wether it was scaring a grandma, or entertaining musicians with the gig of music. I use his lyrics as slogans all the time.
Jim just know all of it was not in vain because i dealt with a prescription pill addiction for years and the night my daughter was born I had so many milligrams coursing through my body it wasn't safe but most people turn to heroin for the cheaper price but because of people like bradley and Shannon hoon I found salvation and im here now sober for 2 years and I saw my little girls 6th and about to see her 7th because of your son and I plan on showing her videos of your son and your amazing family to hopefully keep her off drugs. Just know the music means everything to us and hopefully him being a bad fish will help alot of people swim free. God bless you and your family and Troy and Jakob and everyone else and again know it was and never will be for nothing. it is extremely cheap compared to literally any other similar drug out there. it becomes expensive when a person's tolerance increases so much that they need to do a massive amount of it to keep up the high, but still would be way cheaper than any pill that could achieve the same affect
He let them shred and they all always appreciated him. Totally fuck with him lol but loved him. He took Brad to Jamaica and that's where he fell in love with Reggae and then came back to the LBC and shit progressed from there. He was intrigued with Reggae guitar chops. He evolved spanking to another level. I still worship this guy
You son meant more to me than anyone ive never met in my life. From the first track i listened to till the last i was never once a casual fan. I bought everything I could get my hands on. He was a writer, composer, producer, mike controller, he had it all. God only knows how much solid gold he had left in him. #ripbrad
I was born after he passed but grew up listening to sublime, and it frustrates me endlessly that this the reality of what happened. I looked up “Bradley Nowells father” and it brought me here, today happened to be 23 years he’s been gone
I never got the chance to meet Bradley, but I think every day what the world would be like if he were here. He is such a unique soul, and I would give anything to have him back even if he never picked up the guitar again. I only wish I had the blessing to meet him. He was right, the taste of honey is worse than none at all, and I wish he never learned.
Brad was the greatest human being to this day. Tho his life was pleaged with addiction and the depression it causes, and still changed the world with the light and beuty of his music for the better he will be remembered as long as i live i can assure that...
SUBLIME put Long Beach on the map!!! RIP brother, gone but never forgotten. Every time I go back home to Long Beach California I spark up a joint, pop open a beer, jam Sublime right on the light house on the beach...priceless!!!
I was such a HUGE fan as a teenager and I went through addiction myself. I'm 3 years sober and I've been revisiting my love-affair with Sublime. It's different now. Before I was younger than Brad. Now I'm older and I see so many parallels between he and I. Very similar in our childhood experiences, musical tastes/experiences and even the same kind of addicts (not just DOC but the reasons we used and our mentality in doing so). I listen to Sublime now and listen to Jim and Brad's wife talk about him and I'm just so overcome with sadness. I love the music so much, but it's almost painful for me to experience it now. im sorry this brings tears to my eyes... this man was truly the one of the all time greatest musicians to walk this planet. no offense to rome but they need to rename the band....sublime died with bradley....
I can definitely relate to brads music, It's a shame, but you know whenever someone has such great ability you will also find they have equally bad tendencies or the yang to the yen. He was a cool dude from what i can tell and all of the acts coming out of cali now days reppn the same kind of music have brad to thanks.
Makes us realize how selfish we can be sometimes. I’m sure bradley wanted to be that for his dad but it’s a long battle as he says “one day i will lose the war”.
Even if Bradley did not pick up a guitar he may have still have dabbled in heroin and would have died for nothing. Now, Bradley is a huge figure in music and an inspiration
@gwennodoubtrock Hello! :) Sublime have reformed with a new singer under the name 'Sublime With Rome', Their new album is out in 5 days and can be streamed on their Facebook page! Also they did two dates in Manchester and London last year, both selling out, and another London date this June just gone. I missed the dates last year because I was in France :( Nice to meet another UK fan like me! :)
my last resort still is Methadone, sad to say, There, for a few of us Cannot escape the blanket opiates give us. My wife of almost 25 years has been clean for almost 11 years now but she was addicted less then 5 years, while I started at a very young age. Thank God He saw fit to keep us together. Usually to get any better you need to part ways. I can feel the pain of addiction in most of Sublimes songs, sad to say, the most romantic artists cannot control their pain.....It's NOT an excuse...
