The wife of the late Bradley Nowell from Sublime and the band's drummer discuss the new documentary "Sublime", their memories of Brad and the 90s music scene. #Sublime #BradNowell #Music
I agree with you so much! It's crazy seeing Troy and Bud (Where is Eric, btw?) Almost ~30 years since they came on the scene & 23.5 years since Bradley left this world far too soon. RIP Bradley! I would give so much to see you play one more time. I know you're playing that guitar like a ------------- riot in Heaven!
@@micvili7527 I stay away from the Dr Wallach's and Gliddens 12 bad foods. Use Youngevity supplements. Ride my bike daily. Eggs are the best thing to eat in The World
Right On Cyndi if you reside in Long Beach you know of Sublime Here’s another band that made it big outta Long Beach Cold War Kids I trip out on that one. As for Bradley Bud and Eric I go back to the late 80s with them I’m stoked to see Jakob taking the seat on his Dad’s throne Good times ahead”
Bro, did anyone have a cam Corder and happened to capture Bradley jamming at the parties! I would love to see a lost acoustic jam that I'm sure parts turned into songs we know. But what about those little lost bits?
@@ekojar3047Ya, there's videos of Brad playing backyard parties...example "Georgie's B-day party", "Mexico Sh#thole", etc been popular vids for 20 years
Man. No words. Sublime has been with me through every moment since 1993 when I first heard their music. Now at 40, I pass the torch to my teen son. Nothing will ever be like this band - the time they emerged, the lack of technology, the love of pure music, the need for different music......and Bradley's soul. We are blessed to have the lyrics live on and I cannot wait to see the documentary.
I feel the same way! Speechless, love Sublime, same age, discovered them around the same time, saw them once live, and miss them (As they ONLY existed with Bradley) and that era of music without all of the digital music programs, drum machines, no "auto-tune" and digital voice enhancement, MTV still played music with the exception of a few things like "This Week In Rock", and you knew something sad happened when the music would break and "MTV News Updates w/ Kurt Loder" would appear (I still remember him announcing Kurt's death), music programming with "Alternative Nation" with Kennedy, "Yo! MTV Raps", "Dial MTV", and a few shows like the one with Julie, Beavis & Butthead, and then "Singled Out" with the before she went nuts and was still banging hot Jenny McCarthy, "The Real World", and then around the time Bradley died (the beginning of summer in 1996) was about the same time I stopped watching. Music isn't the same. Artists like Bradley, Kurt, Rivers Cuomo, Chris Cornell, Beck, the Gallagher brothers, Black Francis/The Pixies, Thom Yorke, and even Lisa Loeb, Gwen, her brother & No Doubt, Fiona Apple, and yes even Veruca Salt (Have to show some of the ladies from those days a lil love) were ORIGINAL! They found their own musical style, tone, rhythm, sound, etc. Today, everything is canned or jarred in a factory for mass distribution. You don't have the experience of seeing a new video on MTV, hearing a rad jam on the radio and waiting until the DJ announced they would play it so you could record it. Going to the record store, making mix tapes, buying bootleg show cassettes and if you were lucky a VHS bootleg someone got of a rare show. Those were the days. I'm a professor of history now, and never got married. I teach my nieces and nephews about the music of our youth and my college students (ugh Millennials!). We're the last ambassadors of Generation X, man! Good job for introducing Bradley and Sublime along with other music from our era to your son, so great music lives on! RIP Bradley! Cheers Mate!
SAME! I was hawkin around robbin the hood when people just had no.idea. even after he passed and they got mainstream, people atill didnt know. There still are a special beutiful bunch of ppl that 'KNOW'
Bradley's baby boy Jakob is 28 now, and is filling his daddy's shoes right now. Go check it out. Sublime is Back. Brad left us all a wonderful Jake, and Jake is KILLING IT! It keeps giving me goosebumps and tears of joy. Jakob never got to talk to his father. This young man sings through his soul just like his dad did and he really only knows as much as we all know about his dad. He's probably only got a few VHS tapes of him an Brad together. Go right now and listen to 2023-2024 LIVE Sublime. Jakob is a strong man now. Been through it all. And singing through his soul with a real message that will bring change to this world for the better
It’s nice seeing bud look so healthy and happy. About 17 years ago I was filming for a friends band in Tahoe, bargain music, bud lives in Tahoe and he’s friends with the band bargain music. Bud got on drums and played a long solo it was sureal. After the show we all went to buds house. Seeing the sublime gold records on the wall, seeing buds drum set in the livingroom- it was all like a dream
Brad has truly gotten me through the darkest times in my life. I remember first hearing Waiting For My Ruca when I was 4 yrs old back in early '98, when my sister had bought 40oz and played it in her car. The memory is still so vivid and remains engraved in my mind forever. God Bless Bradley Nowell~ he's like the big brother I never had, but wish I did.🏖🌞❤🙌🏻💛🕊💚🎶🎸
Been listening to Sublime since I was 11. My Uncle showed them to me right before he took his own life. It’s been 15-16 years and they still get me through some stuff.
I was in Fairfield California... 1995.. driving in my car with a friend when he said "check this out" and popped in the self titled SUBLIME cassette. I instantly became a fan and they are my all time favorite band to this day.. R.I.P. BRADLEY... LET'S GO JACOB 🤘
One of my biggest regrets from this era was not getting to see Sublime live. Lived with my Dad in Montebello CA and went to Rio Hondo College from 92-93 and was in their backyard. If only I can go back in time.
To whoever is saying that Troy is being disrespectful by cutting off Bud needs to relax. I know if I lost my brother i wouldn’t wanna talk about it to someone on cbs. R.I.P BRADLEY NOWELL we all love and miss you. Thank you for showing me how beautifully a human soul can express emotions. You saved my life and I know we’ll meet one day.
Troy and bud and the rest of you thank you so much for keep pushin out the music. I know how hard it was.for you. Love you both so much. Sublime has.saved me. I have been listenin since i was 11 💔💜💙❤💔
She is only in it for the money unfortunately. It's just a matter of which studio will pay more money. She has the majority Ownership of "sublime". I guess back in the early 2000's she released partial trademark of all the different sublime logos to a bunch of department stores like target,Macy's ect for some crazy amount of money with out the rest of the band so she really only sees "SUBLIME" as $$$
Quit hating on Troy... gosh brad and Troy loved each other and I doubt Bradley would like hearing the stuff some of you “fans” are saying. Spread love, not hate no matter your opinion. It’s just not what brad would have wanted. Who cares if Troy is interrupting sometimes heck I bet if brad was alive talking in this interview with bud, they’d be interrupting each other and beating each other up like the good ol days! Love the sublime family!!!
There will never be another Sublime. Brad, Bud Eric we’re spot on at that time in music. The Mid to late 80’s were horrible. I will call this band genius
12:45 I appreciate Troy's honest, that right there sounds like something my friends would say if I were to have killed myself (or OD'd) and kinda makes it "valid" to do so in a way because I'm at a point in life where I'm just so mentally exhausted to where I'm losing a life long battle and no matter what I do, I fall under crippling depression again and again to the point where nothing else is working anymore and I've tried pretty much everything I could. Ever since I heard this it has made me think, is this my fate? Will I stop fighting like Kurt and Brad did because they just couldn't take it anymore no matter how hard I've tried? RIP Bradley..
yeah..i kinda feel like that also...and i dont know you from adam, but for everyone who does...i sure hope u stick around as long as u can. i dont think i could put the 3 or 4 people in my life that i just know love me unconditionally thru all the pain of losing me forever (even as minimal as i somtimes think it would be for them.)
@@adventures6019 hope you didn’t give up. Life is a travel a really long travel of twists and turns and road blocks. It is truly what you make it! Just remember when you are at the darkest place, look & never give up looking for that light at the end of the long tunnel. Your family &/or friends love you. Remember too, that you got this. Live, love, & ✌🏻
I was at the LB Dub all⭐️’s show @ the college in Long Beach and Lou dog was chained to the soundboard , on a long leash and I got to spend 45 minutes sitting with and petting him , then I found out he passed not too long after. 😢
I’ve been looking too. After reading a bunch of comments, I guess they never released it. But you have the RU-vid documentary which is amazing and the Todd Zman Zalkins documentary which is also great. I heard they are coming out with a biopic like a year ago so we shall see.
How many times do they have to talk about this? Bud and Eric were 2/3rds sublime. I'd love to here more songs live with 4 Trac dubs. I heard in an interview Brad said "Never going to happen" few years later NewMettal came out
What is her ethnicity ? Does anyone happen to know ? I always thought she was Mexican descent or half bc of Bradley's lyrics referring to Mexican and Chicano culture, but I was looking through her Instagram and she seems to have Asian family members, but a name like Dendekker. Hmm..🤔
She's not exactly someone I'd bring home to mom. I've seen so many interviews of Brad's friends getting emotional about him and she's never come across that way.
@@sc12100 I noticed exactly the same thing. Even from the 2001 documentary (VH1 - Behind the music), where the death was still very recent, she never demonstrates emotion about Brad.
It’s called Sublime. And the documentary is filmed and completed, but doesn’t have a distributor yet. It’s been in limbo for awhile now. Trust me, when it’s released publicly, it’ll be talked about.
I been saying the same shit if I was Jakob i wouldve fulfilled his legacy and made more songs because lets face it jakob would be a better face for sublime than "Rome and sublime"
Jakob wouldn't ever be down for this. Ever. He is without a doubt his own man. It's amazing to watch Jakob on stage he is such an amazing kid. I think Bradley would be so proud of him. But if you've ever watched any interview with Jakob about his dad then you would know he's not down.
Doesn't matter now. Eric has admitted to not talking to Bud since he left S****** with Rome and has even said he would never play with him again. He did say that he still loves the guy but it sounds like they've permanently gone their separate ways. I dont necessarily care for Brad's widow, but she's right when it comes to the LBDAS being a closer Sublime "type" of band than all the rest.
Shoulda let bro do drugs until he didn't wanna do drugs anymore. Instead, trying to make a dude stop when he wasn't ready and breaking his tolerance killed him. People only quit when they're ready, or they die when somebody steps in and breaks their tolerance.... or mix Xanax with dope, thats the real killer.
@@chrissmith2411 she’s dated/married some very unsavory characters. Heavy smoking & using & bad decisions has not done much for her appearance. She may have money but it sure doesn’t seem like it?
You say that as if she's any less of a fox...???? ...They just don't make 'em like her anymore these days---Troy is one badass MILF snd still as dope of a Hyna than she ever was when Brad was still here in this dimension with us... I say all of that with absolutely no intention of any kind of disrespect whatsoever to Brad or Troy or any of the OG LBC Sublime Fam
Ironic these two are together when she got control of brads estate 1 week after he died. Brad got sober and had a kid but decided to get trashed in some shit motel? Bud was the last to see Brad and he was probably going to leave Troy’s deadbeat ass. She couldn’t let that happen. Kurt Cobain 2.0
What do hard drugs and tattoos have in common? THAT DAMN NEEDLE,she looks as addicted to them as Brad was heroin it's a cope a lot of inkoids have some kinda trauma they're "pinning" their emotions.
