Jim Parsons and Bob Newhart presenting at the Emmys 2013. I just had to upload this because their interaction is too cute. It's Professor Proton and Proton Jr! :P Includes standing ovation for Bob Newhart.
You do realize Jim's words were probably already planned and scripted by the Emmy writers. It's not as if Jim Parsons congratulated Bob out of the blue. It was part of the bit.
Me too :) Those 14 people who disliked this video must be heartless to not be moved by that awe-inspiring spectacle that the audience gave to Mr. Newhart.
sorry to be offtopic but does someone know of a method to log back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost the password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me
I was glad Parsons brought it up. I can't believe he hadn't won before. He's a legend. Long overdue and very well deserved. Congratulations, Mr. Newhart.
I know this is an old post, but it's worth repeating. I was shocked as well. Bob's a Comedy genius. His sense of timing is amazing. I cannot believe he didn't get one for either of the Nehart series.
I love in "The Proton Transmogrification" how Bob Newhart (even in a comical show) inserted something so profound: "It's ok to be sad when people die. Just make sure you appreciate those who are still there for you."
What a wonderful moment. Jim Parsons will probably treasure it his whole life. Frankly, I'm shocked that it took so long for Bob Newhart to win an Emmy!
Jim Parsons played the Jimmy Stewart character in the stage play and film "Harvey." I would have loved to have seen it. He comes across as perfect for the part.
I wish to thank every member of the crowd that delivered a long overdue ovation for Mr. Newhart. Thanks also to Mr. Parsons for providing a very appropriate opening line - giving Mr. Newhart the acknowledgement for his life’s work. 👏🏻👏🏽👏🏻👏🏻👏🏼👏🏽
0:42 *Bob Newhart is wonderful, I am grateful to my father for introducing him to me back in the 70s. I've only been as fond of Don Rickles as I am Bob Newhart and I am thrilled to see him get the recognition and appreciation he deserves in this moment with a standing ovation.*
You didn't recognize Bob Newhart? He had two successful, long-running, self-titled shows in the '70s and '80s. The man is a TV legend. Surprisingly, he never won an Emmy, until his guest spot on TBBT. He's nominated again this year.
musicaltheatergeek79 okay, while everything you just said may be true, that doesn't explain if Newhart's character "professor proton" was created just for The Big Bang Theory. Newhart could have been the most popular person on Earth but he also could have had a show a long time ago that was a dud that hardly anyone knows about called "Professor Proton".
This made me mad to think that this guy never got an emmy till The Big Bang Theory! I was shocked, thought he was swimming in em by now. I personally haven't watched Newhart series yet but it's so much of the fabric of television that i just knew he had to have had one or 16 just for that alone
It makes me mad too. He's a legend, and deserved multiple Emmy's before his brief stint on TBBT. I came to this video just to vent at the injustice of this!
Saw the episode of BBT which featured Mr. Newhart as, Prof. Proton for the first time. Lol moments, he still has that deadpan delivery that keeps me in stitches.
The big Bang show performance was great (one show) and an Emmy well deserved but the Newhart series was excellance at it's best ! Whoever was doing the voting back then must have been on drugs or paid off. This should have been his 2nd or 3rd Emmy. Just saying....
YOU know it's pretty weird that you see the actor himself show up in real life when since your memory about him is all built on the charactor which he's 'living in', and that makes me more like him.
Bob Newhart is a great actor. You believe every word he says. If you want a first-rate acting class, listen to "The Buttoned Down Mind of Bob Newhart." It's all you need to know.
