Both Jim Perry and Jay Stewart (filling in for Gene Wood) would, of course, reunite on a more regular basis two years later on "$ale of the Century". T.I.P. ( Travel In Peace) Jim.
Jay Stewart did fill-in for Gene Wood as a guest announcer on Card Sharks, from this Original 1981 Broadcast on NBC. He was an announcer on $ale of the Century for 5 years, until Don Morrow took over for the rest of the series until its finale on March 24, 1989, the very same day Super Password ended its 4 and a half year run on NBC with its series finale hosted by Bert Convy. These 3 Game Shows now air only on BUZZR. Rest in Peace Bert Convy and Jim Perry and Jay Stewart and Gene Wood, we miss you 4.
Let's hope Buzzr would air this again for a replacement, because Game Show Network on this video edited out a quick sign-off (which turned to a quit sign-off (would've added a credit crunch).
+Creighton Rabs Jay Stewart once filled in for Johnny Olson on Concentration late in it's syndicated run. One thing I remembered was that he didn't say "This is Jay Stewart speaking for Concentration" , only saying "This has been a Mark Goodson-Bill Todman Production." at the closing.
A woman in Topeka watching on WDAF Ch. 4 sent the opening poem. WDAF is based in Kansas City. I didn't realize WDAF's signal got as far west as Topeka. Why not watch Card Sharks on KTSB Ch. 27? KTSB (now known as KSNT) is the NBC station for the Topeka market and has been since 1967. Or did KSNT preempt Card Sharks for other programming?
I like Jim Perry's Card Sharks better than Bob Eubanks. Jim Perry was the perfect emcee for that show but when Card Sharks returned on CBS in 1986, Bob Eubanks started out ok but later he used his Newlywed Game act on that show during the high low question especially the 10 audience poll. I don't care for The Newlywed Game. Bob Eubanks was a good emcee on Dream House on NBC and Trivia Trap on ABC.
