Paul Roma is Paul Roma. What you see is what you get-take it or leave it-straighforward. Jim Powers is a class guy, all around, from how he sounds here. It was great to hear him tell this story.
Jesse said one day to MacMahon on commentary look at these two young stallions and McMahon was like what and lightbulbs went off and there you go the young stallions were born
Paul and Jim as a tag team were initially slightly elevated stepping stone enhancement wrestlers for a good while before they scored the upset on national television. They would always lose to mid-card or upper-tier tag teams but would get a little more offense in than the standard issue jobber tag teams. You would occasionally see them on Prime Time Wrestling in a recorded house show match going against one of the other enhancement teams where they would get a competitive win in a longer match duration. This was before they were re-branded as Young Stallions.
Lol, best physique too ... better than Warrior, better than Ryback, better than the Warlord, better than Tom McGee, better than Bautista, better than Tony Atlas, lol.
@@Geraldo-ro9rc Flair, Hogan, Warrior, Bruno, Andre, were all Jealous of Roma, and they all tried to politic behind the scenes to get his spot. But due to Paul's legendary status in the buisiness; star power and drawing ability, and sway in the industry, he never felt threatend that those guys would get his spot, fame, or pay offs. When you acheived what Paul has in the buisiness, you call your own shots. The only reason he is not in the WWE HOF, is because Vince is jealous of Paul.

Best thing, funny too, about Jim Powers was in a hotel on the road one time, Owen Hart was on the phone playing a prank and while totally insulting another wrestler, calling them stupid, Owen told whomever he was talking to on the phone that his name was "Jim Powers." Some really pissed off wrestler(s) were coming down to the lobby looking for Jim Powers. Owen was sitting off to the side with Jericho and Guerrero just watching what was going to happen...hilarious. Bret Hart told that story on one of his interviews.
@@TitleMatchWrestlingIt's a shame The Young Stallions didn't have a short run with The WWF titles being they were very athletic and with both PR & JP looking like $1million apiece👍💯
Wednesday ,3/11/1987 (WWF TV Taping # ) Columbus,Ohio: Ohio Center: The Hart Foundation ( Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart ) defeated Paul Roma & Jim Powers ( WWF Debut as Team ). They wrestle twice, probably doing a retake, messing up the first match?
Well Paul is the best wrestler of all time who never heard of Hulk Hogan, and even he will be the FIRST guy to tell you he is the biggest star of all time who is better than Hulk Hogan, a guy who he has never heard of
Heel Young Stallions vs Rockers would have been great. I don't know why Powers thinks a townhouse is opulent. It's one step above an 800 sq ft apartment.
Back then there were just more established talent in the tag team ranks to even seriously consider the Young Stallions or even Power & Glory for putting the tag belts on them. You don't put your major titles on mid-card workers. Plus, at that time there were only one set of tag champs, not multiple brand champs like Smackdown, or Raw, ECW, WCW, etc. It got so half the non-jobbers had belts. Roma would have made a good hardcore champ. Would have been fun watching him get beat up all over an arena with a smile on his face. Roma would have also made an excellent Red Rooster.

Funny how he says that the plan was to make he and Roma tag champs and yet I don't remember them ever winning a match. I saw them live at the Spectrum against the Rougeaus and they lost that match. Hell, I saw Powers at a house show lose to the Red Demon of all people. Jim had a great look he just wasn't that great of a performer.
Hey Jim, remember me, Bobby Bradley lol! Jimmy Snuka s best friend, you don't think I took great care of you and Paulie, when I could have simply beat the hell out of you both but I didn't, I made you shine lol the business lol what a work, what a joke it is. You should see Bobby now, I've never slept or look better ! P.s. let the bullshit go Jim, it's nothing but the devil, Vince.
Fake news. Roma gathered all the promoters from the Territories and told them that him & Roma would be the next Briscos, LOD and Steiners rolled into one even though he never heard of those teams.
Roma is 5'8 and sure as he'll wasn't the wrestler such as other short wrestlers like dundee, outskirts, Benoit, dynamite..... he was a literal joke, jobber at best. Him saying flair was jealous...lmao..of what? He turned down more ass than Roma ever saw
Jim seems like he's scared to say anything bad about Paul in this shoot. He follows up any remotely negative remark with an apology. Maybe afraid Paul would kick his ass at a convention back then lol.
