@davidbentleywoodturner9948 At the end of this video while sharpening the pyramid, you were dipping the point into something. Was this peanut oil, or something else?

Thank you for making and posting this video. It took me a while to find one that shows how to sharpen this type of tool. There are videos out there that are calling other woodturning tools beading tools but they look nothing like these tools. I wanted to ask if It was ok to sharpen my jointer knives by using the credit card sharpener on the flat edge of the knife. I tried it yesterday and it seemed to work fine. Is it ok to keep doing it this way? Thank you so much.

After you quench the tool in peanut oil, do you temper it? Good video,Jim and David.

RickTurns for most tools, yes I temper them to reduce the brittleness. However for this tool used to cut redwood burl - no.
