This guy made you believe in every match he called in the Attitude era, whether it was Crash Holly pinning someone in a Jungle Jim's, a diva's pillow fight, a title match, or Undertaker 'killing' Mick Foley.
@@kammitch3131 yeah, Foley pretty much kept everyone in the dark on that one. Taker knew the plan, but didn't know that Mick hadn't been up there before lol. But still, JR made so many lesser moments seem just as big.
I heard both Jim Ross and King would request that their run sheet of the show had the least amount of details as possible so they could, themselves, be surprised, entertained and be able to genuinely react.
Vince at the same time, made Jim Ross a voice of a generation, paid him alot of money, and treated him like crap, then fired him for something he had 0 control over(twice)
To be fair, Conrad is trying to keep JR on track, bring in the reigns a bit. The question was about leaving WWE and his feelings and JR immediately goes off on a tangent about Steve Austin and the years of 1995-2003 (completely irrelevant to the question).
@MiketheratguyMultimedia he helps keep JR on track. While I love hearing JR talk about his time in wrestling, he talks in circles a lot, and Conrad is good at helping keep him on track when they're trying to answer questions.
Why did you quit WWE? "Well, I've got this new book out about obsessing over Stone Cold again, Oklahoma football, XFL and about this and that." New Book, that's great... WHY DID YOU QUIT WWE?
I would not say by far Monsoon and Heenan were gold together. Jesse Ventura was good to. All the other 80 announcers other than the ones we both mentioned dont come close.
6:21 you'd think with McMahon being such a detail guy that he wouldn't let anyone important to the company have a contract that ends on March 31st when he knew full well that WrestleMania can sometimes take place in very early April. You'd think he would have Jim's contract end no sooner than the first week of April.
You’d think, but this is also the same guy who wouldn’t take the belt off Bret Hart when he knew Bret was leaving to go to WCW. We know what happened as a result 😆😆😆
Yea Vince was the same guy in 80s and 90s he is today and they thought it was a blessing to work for him...only now people decide to 💩 on Vince and I don't like it...this world is strange some girl can talk about consensual sex and a legend name is tarnished
😂😂😂 i just imagined JR saying the chicken analogy during commentary and Michael Cole starts cracking tf up like "What!?! 😂 Priest goes for a cover an only got a 2.... 😂 ill bet you use your own Barbecue sauce 😂😂😂" JR: " I do and its by far the greatest BBQ sauce.. OH, SOUTH OF HEAVEN 1 2 OOOOH and a kick ooout BAH GAWD" 😭😭😭😭😭 King: "I LOVE THIGHS JR 😂😂😂" JR: "Ill bet you do, PRIEST AGAIN SOUTH OF HEAVEN AND THATS IT, 1 2, 3" 😂😂 commentary was so lit and transitioned so smoothly back in the day
Jim Ross and King were my two favorites, but that's also when I was a huge fan. I came back after 20 years to see Triple H's era and I like Michael Cole and Pat on Raw. Bummed Cole is leaving Raw for SmackDown, but Fridays are getting better.
It is not a secret that Jim Ross was fired he did not quit, Jim Ross was head of talent relations and Rick Flair showed up to the WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony drunk and JR still let him go out on stage and talk in front of everyone, so Vince fired JR, it's almost the same reason Arn Anderson was fired, Alicia Fox showed up drunk for TV and Arn Anderson let her go out and do a match drunk so Vince fired Arn
@@thewatcher6794 It definitely was at the 2K14 event. JR may have been confused in an interview, but some people remember when it was in the news. Pull up Ross's Wiki page to verify.
He's also a mercenary for money. Dude is already set for life grifting people on home insurance. But he's a cutthroat and wanted another extra 6-7 figures on podcasting.
I’m rewatching Raw and Smackdown I’m in November right after Survivor Series of 2004. We had the greatest time ever Jim Ross is the greatest sports announcer in history, i still get goosebumps at 30 listening to his calls. It’s sad that great things and at one time great relationship can’t last forever
Jim Ross should be mentioned with the greats during the Attitude era,his vocal commentary was just as important as the matches, shit even the most iconic matches/moments has his commentary in it
ngl Conrad is like X-Men's Villain Mojo just sit's there as a I don't know what to call him but LOVES to just sit there and watch what Jim does and says as my lord he just stares at him Breathing heavily the Whole time just Like Mojo does to his TV's and Broadcasting
@@MaxPower-zw7go Thats makes 0 sense. Why would you ever work for someone who bullies you? Dont shit on the new generation because yall either 1. Didnt have the guts to stand up for yourself or 2. Had no other option but to take it.
JR is the goat of wwe commentary. There will never be anyone that can match him on commentary. JR if you see this you made my childhood great. I was a big wrestling fan when wrestling was good.
The alleged firing took place in 2014, though Vince himself stated that JR chose not to renew his contract. This could just be a way for Vince to let JR leave with dignity and be diplomatic, but officially he was not fired. However, JR returnedin 2017 and stayed with the company until 2019 when he left and went to AEW. This is the instance they are referring to.
mmm that's nice in theory but he's talking WWE stock... at $8... let's say he had 500,000 shares, and he mentioned, it hit $100, that's 50 million dollars, along with the cash he made salary-wise, and he seems like, if not an overtly religious man, at least spiritual and understanding there's a another life and pearly gates waiting for him at the end of his journey... plus he's beloved by millions of wrestling fans and is in a good spot with AEW... forgiveness and grace are worth more than whatever sick joy Vince took in humiliating him, and oh yeah... he's made tens of millions of dollars over his career. People are humiliated and degraded worse and they'll take it for a 50k salary, let alone a 100m+ net worth
Well, you are either have more self-respect than Jim or you were never offered that much of money that he was given… so, do not act like you will not take it.
wtf is Conrad doing there why is the interviewer on his show not asking the questions of we wanna hear Conrad talk 80% of the time we would watch his can we get a break
For whatever reason Vince McMahon always had it in for Jim Ross, but I also don’t understand why Jim Ross put up with Vince’s treatment of him for so long.
He didn’t quit after Owen Hart died in the ring right in front of him. Then Vince had his people sweep him off to continued the show like nothing happened?
King & JR are the voices of the Attitude era. Hands down. Jr’s emotion of the moment SOLD IT. Especially when it came to putting over the “ low down dirtyness” of Triple H. 😂 “ Triple H you son of a Bi**h!!!” … man the emotion of JR will live forever in wrestling lore
WWE doesn’t respect Jim Ross.. he was the greatest commentator of all time and the disrespect is disgusting. Give the man a big fat cheque and give him his respect. Go listen to WWe raw now it’s some Australian guy unlistenable. Jr is a legend and goat of commentators
Jim Ross obsesses over Stone Cold Steve Austin, the same way Eric Bischoff obsesses over Hulk Hogan I think both wrestlers were highly overrated and a lot of people think Stone Cold Steve Austin was bigger than Hulk Hogan when that’s far from the truth Hogan was still popular in the 2000s while Austin was pretty much passed his prime by 2002 there in this time triple H was the face of the company, Chris Jerico was big brock. Lesnar was new at the time, but he was someone that was going to be big Austin was just not a popular attraction anymore. Fans got bored of him and moved on hulk. Hogan has been long past his prime, but he was still popular enough to wrestle Vince McMahon at wrestlemania 19 while Steve Austin wrestled the rock for the third straight wrestlemania and he didn’t have a true retirement match because nobody knew it was his last in ring match
Imagine bringing the person everyone complains about on podcasts and then including him on the interview with people who were actually in the business.
Always loved Jim Ross. I saw JR in New York once. He was alone in a bar and drunk as hell. He was vile. Talking to everyone like shit - rude, angry with a huge ego - He may have been going through something but i lost a little respect for him that day - still admire his work though
Jim didn't quit WWE as I remember it. Vince gave him a contract after his wife died but it involved only calling the odd Undertaker match. Ross wanted more of a full-time deal so he joined AEW.
Weirdly enough I believe I first heard jim Ross commentate at the tail end of his new Japan thing cause I’m like this dudes super good he sounds familiar I was also confused on why he was actually in new japan and not wwe but now it makes sense lol
Connie Loanshark didn't start out with _"Meltzer writes in the Observer..."_ DISAPPOINTED! Kenny: "Hey JR, how's the weather?" - JR: "Buy my book, buy my barbecue sauce, buy my other book, save with Conrad, pay me!"
Because he got fired a bunch of times? This is the weirdest “you can’t fire me cuz I quit” thing since Saraya cut a promo saying she “chose” AEW after WWE fired her lol
WWE didn't fire her though? She refused to sign a new deal along with Naomi. Naomi then signed a new deal with WWE and came back just fine. Sasha asked for a ludicrous amount of money and wanted to be the top paid woman on the roster and WWE rightly said "LMAO GTFO".
ive always thought jim must be super frustrated with the product, and knows its crap,, but he also not a dummy, and does what he needs to keep getting paid... thats another reason why he so respected ... and yeah wrestling isnt near as good without him on the mic... and a few others that arent around any more ...
When does JRs Deal with AEW expire? With Triple H now running the WWE & his relationship with Jim surely it can’t be too long until Jim Returns to the WWE in some sort of role, within the company. Doesn’t have to be on commentary.
Yea last time I saw JR he looks like he lost PLENTY of weight and that scares me when someone with his age and health loses so much weight...time is calling...hope I'm wrong bc he still has plenty to give but also earned some rest...
Is JR getting drunk the worst thing done by an active contractor (that's what WWE classifies them as)? Or is it because he wasn't exactly a draw like the wrestlers that they were just waiting for an excuse to let him go?
At what point did he ever say they're new? If people assume that then that's on them. The rest of us with common sense know when these shows took place.
If you get hired for what you brought to the art, and later that deal ends, but you feel unable to criticize the buyer afterward because of the wealth you obtain, it's like saying the buyer got no value. It's scary mentality Ross and other Vince Mcmahon employees show.
For all the stone cold fan boys out there what has he done since he retired had a mediocre movie career? Stone Cold Steve Austin is a product of the 90s in the 2000s he was badly injured and he just became a comedy skit singing with the rock playing guitar putting miniature cowboy hats on Kurt angle and saying WHAT the WWF made him a joke towards the end of his career
They didn't renew his contract in time and AEW was offering him more money than he was being paid by WWE and the WWE was paying him a lot and he only worked 2 time that year. He wanted to do more before his time is over in this world and was getting bored doing pretty much nothing.
