Performed in May, 2017 during the Preliminary Round of the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest, held every Memorial Day Weekend in Oxford, MS. Jimin finished in 2nd place.
I LOVE your style! I do play some piano, but I've decided that I want to play exactly like you do when I grow up! Of course, I'm 72, so I better get with it here....
So many artists still do cover versions of this song over a hundred years after it was written. I wonder how many songs popular today will still be remembered a hundred years from now?
She has a piano practice video, when she came to this contest. It's in the hotel lobby w a vertical piano and, I think it sound better of this. I can't find that version, video is not more, but I keep trying. Sorry for my English
@@MrCrowebobby This is functional music that should be played in live music venues regularly, but again as i said, the generation Y and Z live inside the internet dumbphone screen, they don't know what social evenings out are.
@@MrCrowebobby Really ? I haven't asked them personally but i suspect they've not been exposed to live music with real instruments. They're used to iphone highly computerized sounds like ringtones.
This is so great! I'm so happy to be a Jimin Park fan! Real good swing feel, totally clean and precise. Lots of soul and fun spirit! Just right! Cool left hand! Lightning right hand runs and licks!
Just love the way artistes from East Asia have taken on the Western musical canon (Modern and Classical) and made it their own. Jimin, Yuja, Yoyo, National U of Taiwan chorus, Sumi, etc. Dennis Prager said in interview recently: 'If you want to hear the best Bach, go to Japan'.
Well, this is nothing new. East Asia has a great ability to emulate and absorb reputable skills or technology, but it's creating them in the first place that is the hardest. Copying is a form of compliment between civilizations.
It is just amazing how the last 3 minutes can play so hard on the keys and then go soft and then up and then the end. I wonder how many years she practiced on the piano.this song is the greatest on piano. I think it is better than Liberace. Just my opinion
I wish to play one this day. You, you beautiful soul, inspire me to play and get better and just be an overall person in life! You bring tears to my eyes, tears of joy!
Absolutely beautiful performance in a genre created by descendants of American slaves, played by an Asian wearing a French beret. Is music the universal language or what?
@@victoza9232 Yes, due recognition for the instrument and its makers ... nothing sounds quite so good as on a Steinway! And good gawd, the gal put it thru its paces! A superb performance, and not only for her technical excellence, but also her heartfelt expression of humanity in every phrase. Gorgeous, in a word!
