Surprised at how often Short was losing it here! Something kind of chemistry about doing Glick with her was setting him off. For one, I think the intro surprised him :D
My previous job had crossed my path with a good amount of celebrity comics and honestly the majority of the ones I've had to interact with are not nice people. I will say though that, thankfully, Martin Short is above and beyond a nice guy behind the scenes. I've never met Ellen but as you've pointed out, the rumors about her seem to be backed up by dozens of people and it doesn't really surprise me, considering the amount of fame and spotlight she had at the top of her career. It tends to make these people feel like royalty.
She was one of the BEST GUESTS and I've watched about 64 of these interviews. She sat back, let him be funny and reacted to him, but when she did insert herself, she was hysterical. Perfect.
To be fair, in this clip, she said she thought she could be funny without being mean. I’m sure she knew full well she could be mean...while being mean.
@@jpnmed Yeah but, he's probably best known as Lenny (Kosnowski) on Laverne and Shirley. They had 60 million weekly viewers at their peak. No one can get 60 million viewers these days in the era of 2 bazillion media outlets. Very sad that Penny Marshall died earlier this week... His portrayal of Chuck is really deep though. I don't think I'd have believed he was that good. Until I saw that he is.
Years and years later maybe comedian wise she had potential But she for sure showed that mean side Countless people brought it up She is definitely someone who impacted comedy But it doesn't change that when she got status she blew it Charming doesn't mean u can get away with being mean to people around and work for u
Only Martin can hit a character like Glick bang on. He's done so many other interviewer parodies from his SCTV days. Check out the hilarious Soren Weiss reports he used to do with Eugene Levy and his Brock Linehan character.
