Been a Jimmie Johnson fan since he started in 2002. Seen him win 5 times at Texas and all 7 championships. There is nothing else this man can do to make me be in awe of greatness. He deserves an incredible 2020

Been rooting for him since I was 5 years old and he hadn't even won a championship yet. It's nice to see that most fans don't hate him anymore... but that's mostly because he isn't dominating like he used to.

@@rcracer8872 You know, Earnhardt was good at passing people and making it happen. Jimmie did better at playing it safe and putting out fast clean laps on a short run. Different driving styles but both great.

wow. I consider myself fairly young, and it's mind-blowing that there are some fans that didn't witness his historic run live. Makes me feel old. Today's best drivers don't even compare. In fact, Jimmie Johnson won all seven of his championships against today's big three. Harvick and Kyle Busch were always this good. The issue, is that the 48 was just way better

Jonathan Acquaviva I am turning 12 in a couple of days and my first nascar race was the second Michigan race in 2017 David Land and Cars 3 got me into nascar so I am really young and I never even watched Jimmie win ONE race

Jimmy, Chad, and crew really were amazing. They won with the old car, car of tomorrow, that crazy winged car...just so many different car configurations. Hats off to true Champions.....

I feel like nascar doesn't want jimmie to race the next gen car cause he will go right back to his prime he did so good when the cars had mechanical grip he kinda fell off when the gen 6 came out because of the aero grip in the cars now. He still won 2 championships in them but I think jimmie would do great in a gen 7 car

Just wish Jimmie retired when he and Chad split. He's one of the best drivers in NASCAR's history, but his accomplishments will be a footnote to the taint of the Chase format.

Not a legend by any means. The prime beneficiary of the best equipment, team, and crew chief in NASCAR history. A big money North Carolina based sponsor contributed to his Golden Horseshoe. These past 95 races and counting Jimmie is showing who he is, a good driver in good equipment, nothing more.

So? Richard Petty raced in dominating cars and good equipment with petty enterprises and he is consired one of the best

Christian Tran Petty also won 200 races on a more diverse type of tracks. Can you name Pettys crew chiefs over the years without looking them up? No. But can you name Johnson’s crew chief where he won races and championships? Yep. And let’s not forget Jimmies train wreck of a Busch career.

I believe you have my stapler .....what? Dale Inman is considered the greatest crew chief of all time and he was pettys crew chief. Only an average of 1.37 cars finished on the lead lap in Pettys time. Johnson’s era is an average of 20 cars. If you don’t know who Dale Inman is then you don’t know NASCAR lol. Perry’s career was far more Inflated with equipment and money during his time. Johnson raced in a time where Hendrick, Gibbs, Penske, Roush, RCR at times were all great teams. That’s 16-18 cars with top notch equipment, and let’s not forget johnson raced the same equipment as Mark, Gordon, Jr, and Kahne. Mark even said he thought Jimmie was a byproduct of his equipment until he finally raced at Hendrick and realized how good JJ really was. These last few years Hendrick has been slumping and the Camaros failures across the board have been well documented. Johnson’s has 2 winless seasons his whole career. Gordon’s had winless seasons, Waltrip, with almost 10, Petty with almost 10, Dale had a few winless seasons also. To judge johnson to a different level is unfair, or it’s flattering you hold him in that high of excellence.

Ryan Derke Like I said Jimmie is a good driver. How do you explain his teammates owning him the last few years then and Chase winning multiple races every year? Petty raced until he was 55 so of course he’s not winning anything the end of his career. RCR was never a great team during Jimmies best years, they were a mid tier team where Chevy supported HMS much more. If Jimmie is this larger then life legend how did Todd fucking Bodine have better Busch series stats with the exact same team Jimmie had the previous year?? Sure, Jimmie raced the same equipment as Gordon which is why Gordon has better stats in every category possible with the exception of artificial championships

@@nathanielhiggerson7679 it took Chase 3 years to win a race . As for Jimmie's lack of success, driver decline, a package that doesn't highlight his skillset, and HMS decline. Why hasn't Byron won with Chad? Kyle Busch has been the best driver with the best equipment in the best team since 2015..his accomplishments pale in comparison to Johnson. The facts are that his competitors recognize his talent. Jeff Gordon, Logano, Edwards amongst others have all attested to his ability to drive a lose car. The facts are that he's a 7x champ and an 83x race winner. The last 2 years do nothing to discredit his legacy. Regardless, a bit transparant, don't you think? Your agenda is clear. You come to a video made to appreciate a driver's career, only to disrespectfully discredit the driver. You can say whatever you want my friend, because at the end of the day you genuinely have nothing.. absolutely nothing here other than your rationalizations. No matter how hard you try to convince yourself, NASCAR history will remember him as a 7x champion, and one of the best to ever do it. That's on you to accept. I kindly suggest taking your disapproval of his success elsewhere...a video intended to celebrate the man's career isn't the place for these kind of silly tired comments.
