That was great. Neil's vocal is just perfect and Jimmy compliments it so well. One of my favourite songs. I was hoping they wouldn't fuck it up, but after those first chords I knew he was gonna nail it. Brilliant. Thanks.
I love a lot of bands, but The Kinks and Crowded House are right at the top! That was a brilliant version of Lola, Neil and Jimmy's voices worked well together.

Interesting that Neil said that he, and especially Tim were greatly influenced by Ray Davies songwriting. I remember seeing Tim being interviewed on morning TV several years ago when he said that he thought Waterloo Sunset was the perfect pop song on a level of its own.
I'm huge fan of Neil Finn's work. This is something different - from out in left field. I love the Kinks. I love this song. This isn't my favorite version, but it is interesting.
When Neil does the beginning he sounds like a continuity announcer, Ray sounds like he’s recounting a funny escapade to his best mate. That’s the difference
Personally I like this! You've got two awesome vocalists in their own right combining in a not too serious attempt at Lola that isn't exactly the easiest tune to cover.
Awesome job - hardly reheaersed - difficult song with strange chords - 12 string takes a lot of work to control - ok harmonies - lots of words - if you were in a pub with a fire going on a winter night you would beg these guys to sing that once more so just smile.
Yeah, normally I left only minimal chatter at the beginnings, but this one was a bit longer. I shoulda posted the time link, glad someone else thought to do it
It looked like, throughout the whole song Jimmy was itching to just get out of the seat a bust it out, but as have been said in previous comments, Neil has a very mellow voice, still a great voice, but so incredibly different in comparison to Jimmy's. I enjoyed it, i could deffinetely listen to this often and no doubt will.
Gotta admit it took me a couple of listens to get to like this one. Jimmy seems a little lost - he obviously wants to get into his trademark vocal range, but Neil's voice keeps the song more low-key.
What a goofy thing to say??? what does 50??? have to do with how one sounds?! Tina turner??? re started her career in her late 40's...numbers are so judgmental....the voice knows no age ever.....unless you are sucking on cigarettes...do you need to be 20? to sound good...tell that to Aretha,Rod,david Byrne,Jimmy Barnes,Luciano, ah BONO, ah on & on...I forgive you with love for that silly comment.
