Jimmy Bruno, Mr. Bruno ( don’t mind me if I call you that) a friend of mine from Tijuana, México who happens to be my first and only guitar teacher, his name is Jaime Valle, turned me unto one of your instructional videos. I love it! Your approach it’s so simple and efficient and you explain everything so clear, thank you! Hope the good Lord gives me the opportunity to watch you live. Blessings. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🎼🎵🎶🎸🎵🎶🎼
I’m sorry about the lousy audience, but I think you at least enjoyed your fabulous band, especially the drummer, who’s extremely groovy. BTW, I really love your bluesy lines and guitar tone.
Great music and people are ignoring it. When we gig it's the tunes where people get quiet that I like most, not the ones that get the most applause. Love the music here. Thanks for sharing!
Holy shit, Jimmy blew me away with unbelievably fast fingering followed by stupendous tremolo effect at the end of "My One And Only Love", man, got tears in my eyes. Bravo.
Filming this a few feet away from Jimmy was an out of this world experience! I still remember to this day how I felt when he played "My one and only love."
Jimmy's playing can over-power the talkers. Once everyone get's their food and a few drinks in them they shut up.Jimmy was (is) freaking awesome. He freaking ATTACKS the guitar. Surprised his strings doesn't pop.
Do they purchase tickets for these shows? I’d be upset if I planned an evening out and have to hear this banter in what is specifically put on as an event not just a random band playing at a pub down the street. Use some etiquette or common sense in this situation. It’s just like going to the movies And the couple talks as if they’re at home watching Netflix It’s why people don’t go out anymore. People don’t appreciate and respect the rights of others is what it boils down to
I'm in, back of my mind, wanting to compose a poem ( sticks in my mind), called; " they clap at the blue note ", where on Keith Jarrett's, they clap sound like rik shaws, on his blue note blue note series live at blue note. I noticed it going 72 mph, for weeks, in an 18 wheeler, out north west.
On every gig is one woman with a unpleasant voice whitch talk and talk and never shut up.Always the same, just the face is diffrent :-).I love my work anyway.
This loud women is so annoying... This is why it sucks to be a musician now a days. People used to consider an evening out with Live music an event and they would sit an listen and enjoy. Now people are so flooded by cheap entertainment aka their smart phones and such they have lost the appreciation and the ability to enjoy an evening out just quietly listening. Also there is a level of narcism that is plaguing our society its all about you never look around or worry about others.
That is an excuse and just for your edification Jazz Guitar is more complex than Classical so he is playing the jazz equivilent to the 9th Symphony. When the lights are out in the music venue and there is a spotlight on the performer it means they are center stage. If the lights are on in the entire venue then you are correct the focus is not on the musicians. By the way I do feel Jazz is a bit stuffy and that is why it has lost popularity, but that does not excuse the audience from understanding proper etiquette.
charlie parker and mozart were equally great. they had two totally different styles. in the realm of improvisation charlie parker was a king. mozart was a king of composition. mozart was not nearly as rhythmically complex. charlie parker wasn't as diverse of a composer. charlie parker was also someone who we can listen to and here his personal instrumental style. mozart's music is open to interpretation. clearly there are things that each did better than the other.
Nick, yeah... I used to have people request a certain tune, then go back to their table and talk through the whole piece like this yammering woman. So, you didn't really care about the music at all - you just wanted to feel you are cool because you know the name of a jazz standard. Wow. I was surprised to learn that one of the things that launched bebop was that musicians wanted to be taken seriously -- they didn't want their playing to be "musical wallpaper" for smoking and drinking. Ah well, such is human nature. We must learn to be content with what we are putting out there, for ourselves and the benefit of kindred spirits.
This performance is so good! Someone help me with the tune starting at about minute 35. I can't remember the name. This rendition is absolutely incredible!
What refreshing chordal melodies and tone. Never gets old. Too bad young players today, as a whole, concentrate their whole playing and tone on formulaic and predictable blues scales with heavy gain. No chord melodies. I IV V. That's it. Hear one and you've heard them all. Not with these jazz masters!
Hi i think you are very very very much generalizing. i would highly suggest young players of today: Adrien Moignard, Sebastian Giniaux, Rocky Gresset, Gonzalo Bergara, Joscho Stefan. these aren't that young, but are considered a new wave of Gipsy-Swing musicians after Bireli Lagrene. 80 percent of the other players i agree with You. but there are many who still got it, sometimes not on video tho. dont worry i will promulgate my own music soon to and its definitely not "formulaic and predictable blues scales with heavy gain" I have another question. what genre of music do You base that statement on? it sounds like blues players too me. which Jazz Players use heavy gain? do you mean people like Guthrie Govan? not comparable and not a predictable blues scale either... HOWEVER I GET YOUR POINT I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN! however what You say sounds a little bit overexaggerated. Please tell me what you think of Adrien Moignard and the others and please tell me where exactly you see/saw what you described. peace :)
who is the drummer & bass player? drummer is fantastic! both swinging yes..and Jimmy just great. I have a record of him playing with Frank Virtue ..he must have been about 17! damn his guitar even the brilliant then...payed $80 for it 20 years ago worth every cent.
Once again, jazz music being ruined by loud mother people talking. I literally hate when people talk during a jazz concert like it is some background music. This is a concert, listen, and shut up.
