Bought a new 26' Calcutta cat with single eTech 200 in 2005.....Same hull design as JB's boat......Loved that boat, regret that I sold it....Verrry seaworthy!
I saw this and about fell out of my chair. I had a very similar experience with Jimmy Buffet around 1988. Then I flew a cargo plane to the outer banks every day from Raleigh NC. One late, nasty, fall day a guy flies into the airport in an unusual seaplane. I went out in the rain to look at his plane, we talk, and he asks is there anything to eat here. I said no but I’m going into town to grab a bite if you want to come along. So we piled in my car and went to a local burger joint. We talked about flying, where he had been, where he was going, etc. By the time we had finished the meal I couldn’t decide if this guy was either A. lying or B. a drug runner and I figured it best not to get too many details. We drive back to the airport I dropped him off at his plane and said have a good flight. When I walked back inside the operations area the guys there had all these questions, I said “why do you care?” And the young kid who pumped gas there looked at me and said “dude you just went out to lunch with Jimmy buffet.” It’s good to see that he’s still just as down to Earth and unassuming as he was then.
@@harveymushman2219 No such thing! Hard to sell a "fake" anything when the subject is a fake! Sorry lemming/parrothead you're hero is as corporate as Intel or Apple and you're being BF'ed
You caught him at the right moment. JB has 3 rules. Don't go to his house. Don't go to his boat. Don't bother him while he's eating as that is sacred. He says if you run into him on the street he figures he's fair game. I've run into him twice over the years. I just spoke. Didn't want to take up his time. He was nice He used to have a Margaritaville store here in Charleston. BTW, Freemans are built near Summerville SC not too far from Charleston. The Freeman story is on you tube and very interesting.
Jimmy once borrowed $5000 for boston Whler. I loved my two Montauks I used to take out the Golden Gate for salmon over24 years time. All in an unsinkable 17 footer! I learned to surf the waves with precise throttle control. A friends dad sold the family boat to a singer one time. Named Linda Rondstad. Dont ask me the brand...I forgot. Swordfish and Stripers? highest of all for mercury
Took his Key west restaurant staff out for a day in a 50' tri sailboat while on a cruise to Grand Turk , They brought The best tray of food ever out to us! When asked if he ever came down to check on them and see if the Restaurant needed anything they said : No , He just wants to know if there Softball team needed anything",,,,,, That was in the 90's,, fun Times for sure!,
"It's 5 O'clock Somewhere" is an Alan Jackson song that Jimmy sings one line in the song. He also said that one line has made him a huge amount of money too...
Jimmy Buffett was from the Gulf Coast of Alabama Cheeseburger in Paradise was my aunt saw restaurant in Fairhope Alabama he ate there every day for a quite a while the place was called Mac's Cafe and yeah The burgers were great!!! In those days this side of the Bay what's a laid-back area and it still is today mostly I moved back about 15 years ago now and haven't regretted it yet. Aunt Maxine passed away a few years ago now and of course the place has changed hands but back in that day almost anybody that was anybody 8 there I have pictures Dolly Parton in front of the restaurant. My cousin was a waitress at the restaurant and she remembers him there of course this was back before he was famous.
I heard a story from a guy years ago that worked in a bar in Wilmington, NC in the early 70s. He said one night a guy was hanging out and went to put money in the jukebox and it jammed and wouldn't give his money back. He proceeded to kick and shake the machine and ended up damaging it. The owner of the bar said he was going to have to pay for it. The guy said he didn't have the money so the owner said you'll have to work for it, is there anything special you can do? The guy said he could sing and play guitar. The owner hands him the guitar and says get to it and if the patrons aren't entertained, we'll have to find something else. The guy entertained everyone and left. Several years later a worker in the bar told the owner there was a guy that wanted to see him. He walked out to the bar and it's the guy that had broken the jukebox. He hands the owner a signed copy of Changes In Latitude. How true it is I don't know, but a pretty cool story about jimmy nun the less.
Having owned both a mono hull and a cat once you change to a cat you never go back to mono. They ride better and faster in rough seas, with a shallower draft more fuel efficient.
I had a couple 36'ft center consoles. I always wanted one with a pilot house so I could have A/C . As I got older could not take the heat in Florida. Doesn't sound like he has A/C.
Want to bet Freeman could sell a TON of those if Merritt was interested in continuing the collaboration? There are a lot of folks who want a cruising cat as well as a fishing boat but don't want to spring for an Aquila or Fountaine Pajot.
@@csrboltfan2643 Agreed, but the only Made in the USA cats that are even close to what I'd be interested in from Aquila are Aspen Powercats in the PNW. Their 35' model is NOWHERE as nice in performance or amenities as the Aquila 36 with the cruising package. If I wanted to go over a mid 30 foot boat, I'd probably look at Fountaine-Pajot (French) or Leopard (South Africa).
nice boat to run to the islands. I bet it ends up in a video. I know he fishes and surfs and now goes offshore. Will he captain or have a captain. I do not think we will see him fighting at the boat ramp in Riviera beach. Eat more seafood and live healthy Jimmy!!
There was a cheeseburger in paradise here in Frederick Maryland. They were notified that he was opening a chain and had to rename the restaurant. It is now beef n buns in paradise.
@@chikendagr8994...PR Image, support jobs here and they're made in USA. It's just me, but the boat is beautiful only it seems/looks a bit underpowered. I'm thinking 350 or maybe 400 Mercs.
500c I think the 4 350's are plenty. Cats don't need the same power as a monohull. The long narrow sponsons are much more efficient in the water. Look at panga style boats with a single engine, long and narrow and most of them achieve the same speeds as comparable sized boat with twins.
you would expect nothing less from jimmy Buffet he has always been in a boating Community even as a child plus he has a tendency to keep his vessels for a very long time of ownership and use btw jimmy is no dummy he did attend College for a Architectual degree
He began playing guitar during his first year at Auburn University before continuing his college years at Pearl River Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he received a bachelor's degree in history in 1969.
He can say that and all his drunk, cube dwelling "Parrothead" fans continue to make this fucking fraud rich. Do you know his CORPORATION will sue anyone who uses the term "Changes in Latitude"? He's a fucking capitalist pig!
@@HousBinPhartiin LOL...another lemming/parrothead.....butt hurt cuz I called out your boyfriend for what he is? A fucking phony! Sounds like you are the typical "fan" I described earlier...hey, people are laughing AT you, not WITH you!
@@kendallevans4079 Nice try, Snowflake! Ya got's ta do bett'a then that. Ask Mommy to put you back in your "safe space" a little longer. BTW did you change your tampon?
lpd1snipe likely an easy Million +. I’ve seen 2018 Freeman 42ft going for 600-750k depending on how it’s rigged out so I have to imagine that the one off customizations he had implemented having both builders would easily push the price point much much higher. If they said it was closer to 2 Million I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised. I’m not privy to all of the customizations, both large and small. I’m speculating of course but being an avid boater it’s certainly well into 7 figures.

Wonder if he will show up to the next environmental awareness shin dig with that. Or maybe the next save the manatee fund raiser. The hypocrisy is on 11 these days so who knows. Beautiful boat.
