Jimmy is very clever and quick witted , he's survived a few things that might have made him unpopular . He always adapts to his audience and this was one of the best of his I've seen .

A snakebite is a pint filled with half lager and half cider - and usually topped with blackcurrant cordial to add more flavour. It became popular in the 1980's and the combination of the two drinks was pretty potent - hence the popularity among students who would have to drink on a budget. Some pubs started refusing to serve it though due to it's potent reputation.

It wasn't banned in our pub because it was so potent. It was banned because it looks cloudy, as if the beer is 'off'.

Snake bite the drink is a popular student drink of half lager and half hard cider. Usually drink as pints. Quite potent!!

Jimmy Carr has written a couple of books about jokes, Only Joking: What's So Funny About Making People Laugh? and Naked Jape: Uncovering The Hidden World Of Jokes. Both books are more a study about jokes, how they evolved over time, etc.

He also did an interesting documentary, 'Horizon - The Science of Laughter', that's worth a watch. Just Google it, and you should find the video without problem. 🙂

Yeah this was my favourite Jimmy car sequence I've seen for a while - He makes it look easy to interact with the audience. Great to see a skilled man at work. (or woman - oh heck .. I sense I'm digging a hole for myself now - "person" then - )

Can always see you guys gripping the chair arms as Jimmy starts because he can be oh so right on the line (for some over it!) but yep this was great. There's a great interview with him running around an hour and a half with TheDiaryOfACEO, worth checking out in your own time to hear the real Jimmy and his life story and views. edit - seems no chair arms, so my expression falls flat lol

its been mentioned that a snakebite is a pint of half cider half lager, but what wasn't mentioned is that many pub refuse to serve it as it makes many become aggressive

I'm pretty sure snakebite the drink is half cider, half lager and blackcurrant cordial. It was banned in certain venues when I was at uni because everyone just gets really drunk and sick drinking them

I worked in a pub back in the late 80s and we weren't allowed to serve it. We still got asked for half a lager in a pint glass please and a bottle of cider - as if we didn't realise what they were going to do! Computer says no!

@jehanariyaratnam2874. Snakebite is just cider and lager mixed 50/50, when blackcurrant cordial is added to it then it's called a Diesel, or a Purple Nasty, kinda depends on when and whereabouts it was being drunk.

There was another variant which involved adding a shot of Blue Bols or Blue Curacao to the mix but the name escapes me. I want to say Turbo Diesel, which makes perfect sense but fairly sure it wasn't called that for some reason.

Snakebite is 1/2 a pint of larger with 1/2 a pint of cider and it gets you very drunk, mixing grape and grain ;)

Snakebite is half cider and half lager. It should in no way be soiled with blackcurrant cordial. Used to drink it all the time as it tasted great and stopped minesweeping, (when someone would steel your drink when you weren't looking) as it was cloudy it was easy to identify. Coincidently, the cloudyness was why they refused to serve it as it made the beer look bad (according to the landlady at my local) even though they noaw serve cloudy ciders etc.

If you’re here in Australia your biggest fear would be that it’s a box jellyfish- among the most deadly venoms of any in the world. Won’t matter much what you put on it just call an ambulance!
