Why does everyone forget he was a hero for saving a bunch of people from a nuclear disaster in the Navy

I was a preteen when Carter ran for the Presidency in 1976. I always regarded him highly as a decent, principled man. He spoke out strongly for human rights and his work in bringing about the Camp David Accords between Egypt and Israel is one of the major accomplishments of his administration. Walter Cronkite once said that of all the Presidents that he has interviewed that he regarded Carter (a 1946 Naval Academy graduate who later served as an officer on the Navy's first nuclear submarines) as one of the smartest.

I hope he turns 100

Why do people hate this man so much is beyond me

I just hope Jimmy can live at least 2 more years, just so he can be the first(?) president to ever live for a century

Best President ever. People called him a weak President, which is American code for, reasonable, patient and an advocate for peace.

This man was ahead of his time! He was the 1st President to put solar panels on the White House and President Regan took them off. Now just about everyone going solar!!

A very good man, to be sure. But a strange person at the same time. Nevertheless, Carter seemed to be the proverbial bridge needed during an historical transition. The transition being the conclusion of divisiveness brought on by the Vietnam & Watergate era towards the more positive and somewhat more uplifting national mood of the eighties' Reagan years. Carter's time in the White House could arguably be considered a period of political healing, but it was also a time of deep economic malaise coupled with national aimlessness. I think it was good he only served one term.

At least Jimmy lived long enough to know he was nowhere near the worst president, like people said he was

It's heartbreaking watching this I have never seen this clip but have been a lifelong fan he is my favorite President next to JFK and in some ways I admire him even more because he seems like he really led a very clean Christian Life more than probably any other president possibly in history but I wanted this, to be about how upset I feel hearing him talk about how bad he was doing and how much he cared about the hostages When anybody that really truly knows what really happened in that whole situation knows that Reagan and Bush committed treason by working with the Enemy to hold on to the hostages until after the election through foia requests we now know that Reagan and Bush did commit treason and got the Iranian government to agree to hold on to the hostages until after the election because they secretly gave Iran a weapons deal in President Carter knew nothing about this this was a CIA operation I'm sure Carter has learned of this in the last several years but being the man he is probably will never discuss it and now obviously it's too late as he is on hospice at 99 years old I don't blame him for not wanting to deal with any of this but it breaks my heart to know that the people that committed treason to deny him a second term which he would have surely had he was a very popular president regardless of what people will say and trash talk him in hindsight they do not know what in the world they are talking about and every time a real Christian tries to stand up and make a difference in this world the forces of evil are always stacked against any Christian in President Carter is one of the greatest examples of what a Christian can do as a president and he did amazing things while in office especially with the whole Middle East situation between Egypt and Israel he raised the bar forever for what a conscientious president can accomplish. God bless President Carter and his family! I would vote for him again if he ran and he probably would do a better job in hospice than anybody else
