At the very least, we Los Angeles citizens know that he knew we loved him. What so often happens with death is that people feel guilty that someone wasn't appreciated while they were alive. Kobe is a hero in LA and he had to have known that because we were loud, stupid and obnoxious about it.

I feel the same way bro, I'm a huge Lakers fan, in San Antonio Texas, and it's not easy being a Lakers fan here, especially when Kobe and the Lakers had rivalries with tim Duncan and the spurs. I went to watch them play the spurs every season, Kobe saved the day many times against them. I miss that guy, I wanted to see how successful he was going to be as a coach. He was a great father, and became a great husband.

And even though he probably didn't even know I existed, his legacy impacted me in a way that changed my life, and I will forever be grateful. point is, for me kobe was not just a celebrity, but a significant part of my life, and when he died, I did shed a tear because of the impact he had on me. the fact that both he and his daughter died, and his wife and kids lost a father and their sister....how can you not shed a tear? this isn't some movie...this is real life. When you try to feel sympathy for someone going through hardship, try to go a bit deeper and you may find yourself shedding a tear someday for someone outside your family as well. :/
