Ellen's hilarious friend joined her to discuss his hosting gig at the Oscars, his rumored retirement from late-night TV, and enemy Matt Damon's recent comments.
Derek Erickson He made fun of his movie "We Bought a Zoo" and made fun of him for giving up an Oscar worthy role for a "chinese ponytail movie". Also when Matt Damon and Ben Affleck came out to present an award, they were announced as "Ben Affleck and guest". Matt couldn't get a word out because Jimmy had the orchestra play over him every time he spoke. Also Jimmy had random tourists come in from the street and he was naming the celebrities near the front row and pointed at Matt and said "ignore that jerk". At one point Matt tried to trip Jimmy

I just love how both Matt and Jimmy never break the joke, like whenever someone talks to them about the other, they jump right at the joke and it's always hilarious. I can't wait for the Oscars night!!
Jimmy makes a great interviewee... not all hosts make good guests when the tables are turned. For example, Chelsea Handler is a great talk show host but an absolutely AWFUL guest. Jimmy Kimmel is the best of both worlds.
S. I. V. It's honestly just a running joke that they don't let up ever. It started when Kimmel had a bad day on his show with terrible guests and so for shits and giggles he said "we've run out of time for Matt Damon". And then Matt Damon's agent or manager got wind of it and told him to keep doing it because it's funny. So Kimmel says it every night now on his show. They don't ever break character from hating each other. But it's not in actuality real hate.
Shay I have to agree with Jimmy. While I thought _Manchester by the Sea_ was great (albeit depressing af), I guarantee _La La Land_ is going to win Best Picture.
Justin Gonsalves you know that's staged just for laughs but it's LMAO when they do bits like who is the daddy of Molly's baby, which then turns into "Maury" where the LOL Martin Short, who I've been a huge fan of since SCTV, does another superb characterization- this time of Mary Povitch, only for it to be settled by Tracy Morgan. So the Oscars will have a great host in Jimmy Kimmel
I like Kimmel. His comedy style is very subtle and witty. I'd say he's similar to Colbert, whom I also love. Conan would be my favorite, who's definitely the quickest on his feet. Comparing to these 3... Fallon is bush league
I agree. When Colbert 1st got Late Night I thought he would have ranked higher than Fallon. Now I would prefer him with a format closer to his old show but without the created persona.
This is so weird because they're two of my favorite talk show hosts and at one moment I'm listening to the Ellen show, the other I'm listening to Jimmy kimmel. STRANGE
