I was fortunate enough to meet Jimmy LaFave after he had only been a Austin resident for 2 weeks. He was a true friend from that day on. And he has made a impression on my spirit ever since.
With a beautiful voice and soul like this. He should have been one of the greatest artist of our time. Thank you RU-vid for me discovering such a wonderful singer and song writer ❤️. RIP Jimmy and thank you very much
@@jaycurlee He 100% deserved to be much bigger, however maybe it's a blessing in disguish fame isn't always good for the artist. But it sounds like he got reckognition from big artists themselves though atleast, and a loyal fanbase ;).
First came across Jimmy a few years ago. Was looking for covers of walk away Rene; and he absolutely nailed it. Then I heard , not dark yet (Dylan). Everything he touched turned into gold! Then when you dive into his catalogue; you realise that he is not a well man. Damn jimmy. You were the beans! For the curious, check out Gary Brooker doing a whiter shade of pale (he wrote it) with an orchestra…
I think he had already been diagnosed with spindle cell carcinoma by this time, and sadly passed away in May 2017, just six months later. I fell in love with Jimmy's unique voice and talents back in 1992 in Austin, when his debut CD "Austin Skyline" was released. He is missed dearly.
