Great Album. Apparently this was the 1st one Jeff Buckley bought or listened to. So diverse and a true testament of their musicianship, curiousity , ambition and passion. I think this is the one where they were firing on all cylinders inspiration wise from beginning to end. So many gems that don't get enough attention. I saw them live and it was too bad they didn't bring along other musicians to produce the entire soundscape from the album. They were great live ..but could have been even better. Guess it wasn't something thought about back in the day. Would be nice to see Jimmy do that now. In The Light. Down by the Seaside. Ten Years Gone. Kashmir. Can you imagine Jimmy with a 10 piece rock orchestra recreating those songs with different singers and musicians?!!!

Physical Graffiti is my favorite Zeppelin album. I wish I had kept track of the hours I've spent listening to it. Zeppelin III is another gem.

I recon the best session guitarists in the business, were Jeff Beck & Jimmy when they were members of the Yardbirds. Also, I've still got my original 76 release of Physical Graffiti, it still ranks as one of the best double albums of the 70s. It's nuts to think it was produced over 43 yrs ago, a huge album in so many ways.

"If you're listening to it on vinyl [...] it's an absolute panorama of sound". Now there's a quote to remember - skeptics, pay attention - it's the Master talking!

If I remember right, the finished version of '10 Years Gone' had 22 separate guitar parts. Being a drummer, as well as an audio/video engineer, there aren't too many things I would love more than to hang out with Jimmy Page and talk shop for a few weeks. And jam...

12:15 what does he mean by "tuning the guitar to the mean average of the piano'' anyone know?
@adampeace279
@adampeace279 3 года назад
The piano at Headley Grange wasn’t in tune, so Jimmy de-tuned his guitar to match the piano.
@thomastallant6681
@thomastallant6681 3 года назад
As Mr. Peace said, the piano was out of tune and Jimmy matched his guitar to the piano. With the different thicknesses, tension, and makeup (straight vs wound) the strings do not go equally out of tune. This just adds to the complexity of retuning a piano, especially after many years. The mean average would be the midpoint in the range of how out of tune the strings were.

OK- I’M CONFUSED. IT’S MY UNDERSTANDING THE PAGE REMASTERS “FOR VINYL” WERE CUT FROM DIGITAL AND THE CONSENSUS IS THEY’RE HORRIBLE SOUNDING. IS HE SAYING, THEY WERE CUT FROM THE ORIGINAL 2-TRACK ANALOG TAPES???? HUH?

I love the enthusiasm he still has for the music. Funny how he almost got upset at the thought of other musicians stopping by when they were recording. Shame he doesn't tour or record anymore. He's been talking about doing both fur years but it's never happened.

While it would be an impossible task, if we had to pick 1 LZ it would probably be Physical, or maybe 3 or 4 possibly Houses because of No Quarter or Rain Song.

And What a poor Job Jimmy did with Physical Graffiti . . Hi Jimmy We need Music Jimmy not books . . Books are Ok once our Thirst for Led Zepplin is completed. Your remasters were a poor job in quality and the fact none of those albums were put on HD Blue-Ray disc for the Millions who do not have Vinyl was a huge let down for Millions of fans. The lost of Analogue was another huge mistake and the lack of live material and companion material was poor & limited, thus making the Box sets a over repeated kill of nothing more to offer then the CD versions . .

Yes, OK, Led Zeppelin were a cool Studio recording Band. The discerning listeners' ear will hear 2/3 Guitar tracks, yet only one Guitarist. How did Jimmy Page do that? Well, he put down multiple Guitar tracks. It's called deceptive cheating. It is physically impossible to play Lead & Rhythm Guitar simultaneously. The best and greatest LIVE Rock Band of all time, STATUS QUO, actually recorded LIVE in the studio. No cheating, no extra tracks, just genuine and honest Rock n Roll. It is so LIVE, that you can hear THE QUO talking or even shouting to each other or the Sound Engineer during the recording of the finished product. RICK PARFITT is the best & greatest Rhythm Guitarist of all time & FRANCIS ROSSI is the best & greatest Lead Guitarist of all time. Jimmy Page could only scratch his head in wonder & amazement at how great STATUS QUO'S PARFITT & ROSSI were/are. Some Bands record each instrument separately, which to me is very sterile, like QUEEN. As a Drummer myself, I could only play as a unit, not without any music to play to. When I taught myself to play the Drums, I would put my headphones on and play along to all the great Bands and Artists. I was virtually their Drummer. That's how I turned out to be a proficient and effective Drummer. That's being modest. As a LIVE Band, Led Zeppelin leave a lot to be desired. They were very ' ordinary ' They really needed 2 or 3 Guitarists to play LIVE. Some Bands like GREEN DAY actually have what's called a Touring Guitarist visible on stage. ZZ Top had a Touring Guitarist that played in the shadows at the rear of stage. Ironically, the Australian Band, Goanna, had 3 Guitarists and you could barely hear one Guitar on their No.1 Hit song " Solid Rock " Great Band and great song. Goanna only needed one Didgeridoo player, though.
