Love how John nods his head at Jimmy as Rip rides the newly broken horse thinking to himself "Yup that's the way. We'll make a cowboy out of you" the music goes really well with this scene too.

That horse was so nice before he kicked it. Relaxed and comfortable not showing signs of stress. Then it knew when to play its role. Great horse and great job to whoever trained it!

I’ve worked Texas ranches then hauled livestock everywhere. You climb on a wood fence or gate where I was, and see what a cursing you get. Don’t put standing weight on a wood fence out west unless you wish to be scolded

Hanging weight on Gates or wooden fences is yes very bad it makes gate sag or Brinks hinges good way to get your ass kicked is what we always say down here but hey I don't believe any of them or Cowboys Farmers or Ranchers so how would they know

Its the little things about this show that make it so great, they thought about actually human behavior while filming. Rip is a murderer. A hardened killer, who shows no emotion what so ever, but his family. He takes care of, he wanted to make sure that horse was broken, but first he stood Jimmy up off the ground because he wears the brand, therfore is family. He made sure his family was on his feet before anything else....yet he's a serial killer. Thats what makes this show so great. Little details
@garvwadhwaney306
@garvwadhwaney306 2 года назад
He's not a serial killer. Serial killer kill in patterns, and ritualistically. They kill specifically the same types of victims in a row. Rip is a killer and capable of dangerous levels of violence, but he is capable of great love and humanity, as we can see in the way he loves Beth and how he is trying to be a father figure to Carter. That's what's beautiful. The nuance of each character makes the show wonderful to watch.

Oh my gawwwd guys! This isn't actually real lol! In real life, I totally agree with you! But this was a totally far fetched scene in a TV show and it totally fit the scene, showing their bullying/old school "teaching" methods! No one in their right mind would actually do this!! However, if someone does do this in real life, you can't blame a movie/TV show for their stupidity... Clearly they've been stoopid for a long time. Just enjoy it for what it was and don't take it too seriously.

When I was young, perhaps 12, I was at a boy scout camp. One day, the plan was to ride horses, something I had never done before. All of the horses at this camp were about as docile as I imagine horses get. I got a horse named George. We were given some basic instruction, mounted the horses and off we went. I remember as we entered the woods on the bridle trail, the ride got really rough; violent even. I wasn't quite sure what was happening, but it was kind of up and down terrain so I just tried to go with it. It must've been at least 5 minutes before an adult noticed that ol' George was bucking like mad. I had no idea. To my twelve year old brain, I just thought riding horses sucked, like, a lot. This guy got off his horse, ran over, and literally snatched my off of George. The men that ran the place couldn't make heads or tails of it, George was usually one of their most calm horses. So me and that gentleman switched horses, and I got to ride a horse named Freedom, this man's personal horse. Riding Freedom was really special, because he seemed to quite like me, and Freedom wasn't particularly interested in trotting along slowly. He wanted to run, and run we did. I'm not sure how I knew that, but there seemed to be a communication between Freedom and I, and I decided to indulge him. Freedom and I completed the trail, were back at the stables and having snacks about an hour before everyone else got back. As absurd as this story might sound, it is 100% true. 12 year olds have bones made out of jello, because I rode an irritated, bucking horse for at least 5 minutes, and was no worse for the wear. My time with Freedom was magical, and so in one day, I got to experience the both ends of the horse spectrum, perhaps not the ultimate extremes, but a decent taste. :)

When i was 12, not even 130 pounds soaked, my uncle put me on a bucking stallion. That horse thought i was just a horse fly amd tried rubbing my off on the posts. Funniest thing, because I was the only one who could ride him

I was forty when I broke my first mare. She was two years old I broke her bare back with no halter , nothing !! I had plenty of mane in my hands when I come off of her. I did finally break her. I was sore for a two weeks. Wow. What an experience. And a good one. Damn I was sore. I'm lucky I didn't suffer a head injury because twice I saw the bottom of that hoof barely miss my for head and feel my mouth with dirt. It was definetly an experience I will never forget.

It’s weird, I hate bullying but, I really enjoy this scene... 😆
@mwnciboo
@mwnciboo 3 года назад
Its not bullying...Its taming a horse, restoring a broken man's self respect. Just like military training ain't bullying, its about breaking you down, to a piece of clay to be moulded, you take brittle steel and temper it. Same with a mans soul, adversity is character building...it makes you Indomitable and implaccable.
@erinjean2695
@erinjean2695 11 месяцев назад
It’s not bullying, it’s a right of passage. It’s learning to have some grit and hang in there no matter what. Sometimes the best way to learn is to dive straight into the deep end. Bullying is tearing a person down with nothing but malice in your heart, the goal of this was to build jimmy up and to eventually make him gold by putting him through the fire as many times as it takes.
