You're right. Those who know me simply _understand_ and _Respect_ my solitude. Still...my close circle of Loved ones and Friends _know_ absolutely they can _Depend_ on me...Ride or Die. *_-•- P e a c e -•-_*
I will be 60 in December and most of my life alone. Have I been lonely? I don't think so, sure there's been times I would have enjoyed a companion. But more stress than the value of coexistence. It may seem complicated, but it's not. Alone and loneliness is a frame of mind. Most co companions, tend to be opportunists that seek a free living by sucking off others. Parasites. I get it! He's not lonely, he's just alone!
I'm proud to call myself a confirmed bachelor, but just because I don't have somebody, doesn't mean I'm lonely. I'm just smart enough to stay away from relationships due to the fact I have no intention of being divorced or cheated on. Plus, I don't believe in premarital sex, because anytime an unmarried couple engages in sex, they are deliberately thumbing their noses at God.
Maybe Jimmy was lucky and was raised without a family... IDK but I was raised in a close family and live by the fact that a man can't be a man without a family. It's not a wonderful thing to die alone.
@@GeminiladyJackson-xq6hc You are correct but I'm not talking about strangers I'm talking family F-A-M-I-L-Y-! If your family exists in the range of "normal" then it's all good. Being on the road doing fly by night standup and sleeping in roach motels is sad. Jimmy can't have a dog much less a home cooked meal. But he made the choice... It just couldn't be me.
I agree. To me, if anything, he was anti-stereotype, in that he was funny, an artist, painter, had high self esteem, was witty. If anything, some of the guest side characters on that show were more stereotypical ones.
Stand up live, is a tough gig! There's real life issues going on in the back of the mind, not including dealing with your managers and promoters. High stress, and trying to ignore this to give a good, live performance. Probably the toughest show for any comedian
I was 10 when Good Times premiered. I loved the fact that it had a complete BLACK family- with a dad in it. Seeing this show made me want to be a father of a strong black family. I succeeded. Jimmy Walker and his JJ character meant nothing to me. I didn’t jump on the “Dino-O-mite!” train. But jimmy is a strong man with strong beliefs and convictions. He was willing to live with whatever consequences that came. He should be resected for that.
People think because you don't have kids and you're not married you must be lonely. How about maybe he just didn't want to be a part of the drama. He don't need some woman taking all his money in a divorce. He's probably just a loner.
I always liked JJ Evans.I'm glad Jimmy stayed strong when he came up against the inner turmoil work drama.I think Jimmy Walker is just like you and me and he has no heirs about him. He's authentic and a good guy.
I loved Good Times! It was one of my favorite shows, and I still watch it to this day. It touched on some very real subjects and issues in every community, not just the black community. They raised the issues of drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, child abuse, and more. IMHO, every person played a part in the shows success. I don't believe Jimmy Walker is lonely. I also don't believe it's anyone's business, but there's a huge difference between being lonely and being alone. Much peace and many blessings to you 🙏 ❤JJ Evans 🎉🎉❤❤
Thanks so much for your response! You are right about the being lonely part. Thanks for letting us know. What other Black Hollywood Icon would you like to see a video about? Let us know!
Jimmy Walker is still a great actor and comedian in my opinion..I don’t know if I’m wrong, or if I’m right, but everyone loves the man they call Kid DynoMite😂
Some people just don't like the stress of others depending on you for their happiness...being lonely is a state of mind...I love my solitude!...and am not lonley at all!!😊
The Panasonic RQ-830S Dynamite 8 Track Tape Player was introduced in 1974. It came in detonator red, bomb blue, explosion yellow but there is also a white and transparent version. It is very easy to use, as Panasonic wrote down in their advertising: "Slide in the tape. Out booms the music from an explosive-sounding dynamic speaker. Then push the plunger to change your channel and to change your tune." You can thus only change the volume and push the plunger to change your favorite song. Although its limited features, this 8 Track Player was considered to be one of the most innovative track players, also because of its design. It works on batteries but also an adaptor is available. To this day it remains the finest commercial made stereo equipment ever produced in the world.
If it wasn't for Jimmy Walker's comedic contribution to Good Times and the realism of Ester Roll and John Amos , us younger people would have really understand the struggles of our African American's living in this country. I'm a mixed race Mexican and Native, as is alot of this country. To live in this kind of atmosphere back then required alot of comedic relief to deal with this racist bullshit back then. You needed both to cope, even until this day. I would only hope that this ia now realized to the current time. Everyone had a part to help the public understand. Of course I wasn't there to see what was happening behind the scenes, but the show did make an awareness to all of us that were paying attention looking for change. I give props to all of the cast and creators of Good Times!
Loved this Show and the Actors as well. Jimmy Walker was my favorite ! Much Love and Respect to all of the Actors in this series. Their personalities made the show Great, even though they all didn't agree on set. Saddens me that Jimmy Walker has struggles, can't help but love the Guy. 😊❤
I WATCHED GOOD TIMES MAINLY, BECAUSE OF JIMMY WALKER. I ENJOYED ALL OF THE CHARACTERS. JIMMY WALKER TO ME IS LIKE THE SUPREMES TRYING TO SING WITHOUT DIANA ROSS. JIMMY WALKER HAD ME LAUGHING AND LOVED EACH ROLE THAT THEY GAVE HIM. THEY WERE ALL GOOD IN THE PARTS THAT THEY PLAYED. THEY ALL HAVE MY VOTE 5 STAR ALL CAST SHOW!!! I THINK THAT HE IS VERY INTELLIGENT AND GIFTED. I HOPE THAT THEY ALL GET BORN AGAIN, BEFORE THEY LEAVE THIS WORLD. JOHN 3:16 FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVE IN HIM, SHALL NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.
I remember as if it was yesterday. In the late 80’s my husband and I were in the Stardust Casino and J.J. Walker was sitting at the bar with two white girls, one on each side of him. My husband and I approached him for an autograph and he turned his back and totally ignored us. From that point on he showed us his true colors. It was so hurtful to see him act in such a manner. So until this day at the age of 83 years old, I have no respect for him.
Yep, they made similar comparisons with 'Family Matters' star 'Erkel' 'Hey, Laura, did I do that'.. Erkel also took over family matters, buy way more than JJ took over Goodtimes. At first, Erkels character was barely on, but by end of series, it became his show, the super nerd took over the show.
I like my private life but lonely no, I'm free too go out and enjoy life but don't like drama and try my hardest too stay away from the insane and crazy thats comes with being out but i love people's of all color's and attract people's like flys
Well why did they take it out on him? They should have talked to the writers if they had problems. Jimmy was just doing his job. They should have had a beef with writers not the actor .
Well most of not all the writers were of Euro descent. They think they know how "black" feel and act. Try to remember how "lndians" were portrayed in the movies for example
Yeah, everyone loves telling 'black folks' stories, but you never see black film makers, etc, going over to Ireland or Scotland or Italy or China, and telling the story of other cultures...maybe they should, flip the table for a change...lol
Glad you brought that up, him and Jay, and a few others came up from the same class and era of comedians...there's a whole other story about that, and how when Jay hit it big, supposedly he closed the doors on a lot of his comedic pals...that's a whole other story though and a interesting one.
How can you be on the show and have no friends that had to be hard and sad I would cry but he did it that’s strength but not to be accepted is heartbreaking
WTF are u talking about jealousy, John Amos already had a career before Good Times. Jimmie was cooning and being ignorant 🙄. It was embarrassing to black people
Jimmie Walker may have never married, but he's probably happier that way, like me. Nobody to tell me what to do or how to do it. I can come and go as I please, do what I want when I want, and not be answerable to anybody. Not being in a relationship means I am not tempted to sin sexually, because God expects the marriage bed to be kept pure, and will judge the adulterer. Couples who are sexually intimate with each other without being married are committing adultery, even if it IS consensual.
I'm 57 and remember watchin' the show as a kid. What I always noticed was a lot of African American people and kids made fun of him when his name came up. Even Eddie Murphy made a degradin' remark about him while doin' one of his stand up routines earlier in his career. But most white kids seem to admire him. In fact, his character may've been jus' as popular to them as "The Fonz", another t.v. icon of the 70's. Who knows, maybe it was the pressures he got from his own community that has made him an introvert. 'guys probably like, f*ck everybody!
I love good times I watch that show so much me and one of my friends. I think she watched it more than I do cuz she still watching it Jimmy Walker had me laughing all the time I just don't believe him he stayed single all his life no children. I can't believe he was that shy you never got a girlfriend he had to be shy because I remember seeing him on something and someone asked him do we have any children and I think he said no children and never been married I can't believe it because he was nice looking on good times and he was very very funny I don't know why he chose to just be alone but I hope he's happy just saying.
So what? I'm 58, never married, no children, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Being single all my life means not being divorced or cheated on, which I hate.
The part about John Rich coming up with the catchphrase Dynomite is false...John Rich heard Jammie Walker say Dynomite on the set one day ... and he loved it and told Jimmie Walker to use it throughout the show. Y'all always wanna claim Black folk's culture and creativity.
I do believe we all have companions, people that if we met, really could be our soulmates... THE PROBLEM IS trying to meet such a person...I mean what if they're in China or Russian or Africa or Italy, odds are you'll never meet them, so most people just settle. And or if do meet them or see them, do to immediate cultural or style differences, or running in different cliches, you both pass each other over never imagining that they were you soulmate.
I used to see him in the men's shower at the holiday spa in Hollywood in a very predominantly gay crowd, it certainly wasn't for anything lacking...that he was alone. Funny how he opposed gay marriage for 'moral' reasons when morals have nothing to do with the matter. Morality is about consensuality, not tastes. It's only immoral if it is non-consensual. I heard from many friends in the business that he was gay and couldn't deal with it.
Social, Political, and even Religious prejudices / pressures have screwed up a lot of Gay peoples minds / lives. I can't imagine living with that never-ending Pressure and Rejection. *_-•- P e a c e -•-_*
This Headline like a lot of others on the Internet is FALSE! The 13 mins I reviewed did not answer his life, earnings, or much more than he did not get along with the cast!
I guess I don’t see “foolishness stereotypes” having been “foisted” upon black actors as Roll claimed. “Foolish stereotypes” in the 70’s /80’s sitcoms were foisted upon characters like Archie Bunker (All in the Family), Jack Tripper (Three’s Company), Ted Baxter (The Mary Tyler Moore Show) and Darrin Stephens (Bewitched.) Black men were presented as strong, smart, and even wealthy, like George Jefferson ( The Jeffersons) James Evan’s ( Good Times) and Dr. Huxtable (The Cosby Show.)
Jimmy is gonna be missed. He seemed like a good dude. Shame this gets bogged down in racial bigotry. Seems like it was beat into the ground. At point television is about escapism. Even black people don’t wanna watch” The Color Purple” 24/7.
$800,000 net worth? That's struggling? Considering many actors and athletes from the 70's 80's even 90's don't even have that, he's doing fine at his age. If I had 800,000 saved up right now, at my age, I'd be on cloud 9...like hitting the lottery...OK.
Where's Jimmy's home? His Mercedes ? Ann Coulter? Being the 70s Step N Fetchit he should have bankrolled millions but Norman Lear hates positive portrayals of "black" men (George Jefferson). The only thing more corny than the background music was the narration. This piece had the feeling of Kansas in August ♥️
I know they used to live in Nebraska, Omaha? When I drove trucks, years ago, worked for Werner Ent, and Jimmy Walker had a radio show in I think Omaha, just like this video stated. He was a talk radio host for a long time during the 90's. Only heard it though for minutes at a time if driving through Nebraska.
I wish someone could, would, settle this myth or fact once and for all. I even asked Ann Coulter this once on twitter, years and years ago, never really got an answer.
People like this these lies don’t have nothing else to do or say why because they don’t have a life or money or any family or friends that don’t gave a NOTHING about U or themselves so go somewhere and sit down a think about who u really are.
Maybe you just caught him in a bad mood. I mean I hear both sides of how celebs are, how some hate the paparazzi and flip out on them, there's plenty of footage of celebs going off in public when confronted at the wrong time, it's not unique to Jimmy W.
