Jin traveled 40 hours from Korea to Argentina, but he fulfilled what he promised, that he would go wherever Coldplay was for the release of The Astronaut! He said he missed his members but it was still amazing!! What a beautiful farewell! It's amazing how much love BTS has for their fans. And we recognize sincerity in that. In Tonight, Jin is singing about mourning the loss of his pets. He had a dog named Jjanggu who passed away after he had been with Jin for about 12 years, and that loss was very difficult for him. He also had two sugar gliders, Odeng and Eomuk and when they passed away a couple years later, he was heartbroken again. Jin is all heart and he gives everything he has to those he loves . . . his family, his members, his friends, his army, and even the animals he has cared for.
Jin did a drama OST called "Yours" and a fun song called "Super Tuna". Jin also did cover songs such as "In Front of the Post Office in Autumn", "Mom", "I love you". The Jin and V song "It's definitely you" is another song that showcases Jin's vocals power, both of their vocals compliment eachother so good. Basically the little girl represents ARMY who he has loved and protected when she bikes away after he helps her bike off it's like an I'll be gone for a little bit but I will always protect and support you from afar. That's why he cheers with his fists when she bikes on her own. It also had little hints to the members in his room. The reason he decides to stay on earth is because ARMY and the members are there and they have become his home. Abyss was written by Jin when he had a burn out and he had imposter syndrome he thought he didn't deserve all the love and praise he was getting from many people. He said he wants ARMY to see his positive side always but he thought he could put the sad emotions into a song and it would help him heal. Suga and Bang PD basically the man who created BTS said he should put it in a song. Tonight was written by Jin about his pets who have passed. His dog Jangu and his sugar gliders. Jin loves animals.
You should watch Chris Martin's speech before the song at the concert....so sweet!!! Yes, it's ARMY, and yes, it's right before enlistment. The little girl represents ARMY. He's an alien astornaut who crashed on Earth, and the little girl (ARMY) made him feel at home, and now even when his ship is ready to return to his home planet, he'd rather stay here because now THIS is his home. And ,yes, he's leaving for a while (enlistment/hiatus), but he will always return home. I never felt so loved as when I watched that video the day it came out. I bawled and bawled. He flew a 72 hr round trip to do that one song at the concert! The BTS/Coldpaly, Chris Martin/Jin relationship is so precious!!! Can't wait for you to get into more about that. The little white plushie (Wooteo) in front of the drum set is a Jin thing, and Coldplay/Chris have had it on stage with them at every performance since Jin went in to the military. Chris has even worn Wooteo pins during interviews. Someone can correct me if wrong, but I think Abyss was written when he was at a low point, and Tonight was when one of his pets died.

Yes, The Astronaut is a song which Jin wrote and recorded just before he enlisted in the military. It was his “ARMY, see you later” song. The little girl is a representation of ARMY. 💜 Definitely Abyss is a super emotional song, diving into the depths of Jin’s personal struggles. He nailed the emotion because he lived it. And writing this song just made Jin so precious to ARMY. He shared it so that we all can feel his raw emotions.💜 Tonight could be written to anyone in particular. I heard once that it may have been about his pets which had passed on. A very sweet and thoughtful song.💜
Jin is the king of sentimental ballads for a reason haha His voice carries a lot of emotion and it is always great. His song with Taehyung is really really good (I listen to it constantly) and you also have a Bangtan bomb of them singing together. It was made for the k-drama that Tae acted (Hwarang). Astronaut is a very special song since it was his last release before enlistment and it sounds like a comforting good bye to Army and his members..like, we grew and helped each other, I need to go now but you are my home and family and I'll be back soon. I really love them and their brotherhood.
I love how the goofy older brother has the most sentimental ballads that evoke so much emotions. I also love how the guy they recruited because of his handsome face discovered that he is actually an insane singer (with range) and an integral part of the biggest group in the universe. He’s also the silly, positive member who has his shadow side where it’s not always sunny and happy as he portrays. They say Jin is serious in real life, too. This song was very emotional for Armys. This was Jin’s love letter to us before he left for the military. He was the first one to go 😢 also, shout out to the Brazilian army. Watch the videos when you get a chance. They know all the lyrics!

the astronaut is really emotional because it was kind of his goodbye song to us and he wrote it about army 💜💜 the little girl in the music video represented army and he was basically teaching her how to ride the bike and then letting her go, symbolizing how he had to leave us for a little while to go to the military but promises to come back. 😭

Tonight is actually a song he wrote about his sugar glider pet who died suddenly. His name is oddeang and jin loved him so much and he used to talk about him a lot. it was so sad hearing this song after knowing what it is about :((

Jin doesn't like to show ARMY his sad or depressed sides, but he will share those emotions with us in song. Astronaut is all about ARMY, with the little girl representing us. In the video, Jin is a visitor from another planet, an astronaut to his people. He guides and teaches the girl until she can ride her bike on her own and she teaches him how to smile. When his ship is repaired, he chooses to stay on Earth, with her. Also, he has markings on his neck when he watches the ship leave Those markings spell out ARMY in braille. Also, the blacked out spaces on the crossword puzzle spell out "For ARMY". In the live performance of Astronaut, Chris Martin of Cold Play does a short speech about Jin and BTS and the relationship that Cold Play has with them. It's very sweet if you want to watch it. You can react to it or just watch it on your own time, but I think that you would like what Chris has to say. Abyss is a Covid song. Not only was he separated from people he loved, like everyone else in the world. but he also suffered burnout during the first year of Covid. Abyss is about his feelings during that time. Tonight is an older song and he wrote it when he lost his beloved pets. The song is an expression of his grief. That's why these songs are so emotional. Jin is literally using the songs to express his feelings about certain things.

As a matter of fact, it wouldn't make any sense for him to be burnt out because of a time when he wasn't able to work as he normally would. He wrote it during the first year of Covid and it reflects how he was feeling at that time. It's a Covid song in that the thoughts and feelings that he expresses in the song took place during the Covid lock down. To me, a Covid song isn't necessarily about Covid. Just a song that was created during the Covid lockdown. And in no way is that insulting. It's just giving it a time frame for when it was created. A lot of very personal works were created during the Covid lockdown, because people didn't have much else to do other than focus on themselves and their art. Please don't put words in my mouth. If I had meant that the song was about Covid, that's how I would have phrased it.

Jin's chemistry with Coldplay makes so much sense bc musically they go together so well. The Astronaut remains one of my favorite releases from last year, the song is just amazingly produced and Jin's vocals although a bit more lower, are powerful. Miss him so much.

Jin has already made a song called Moon, where he says “I am the moon and the army is my land”. Upon seeing that his ship was repaired, he prepares to return to his planet and says goodbye to his neighbor friend, and goes to meet his ship on a bicycle (Any reference to ET?). Details: he gives the girl his helmet (“be well”); the girl is about 10 years old, which is Army age; the bike is purple (Army color); the black spaces in the crossword he made spell the word Army in braille. In this friendship, he taught the girl to ride a bicycle and learned from her to be happier and to like simple things that make him express new emotions. When it's time to leave, he remembers those good times and decides to come back, considering that now his place is here. Then go back to what is now your home. Details: his going to the desert is the period of his military service; in the crossword between the words that are there, he writes 'family'; when he is returning in the truck to his house, the tattoo appears on the right side of the neck written “army”; back in the room, I smile, having made the best choice and being back; when he hears the bicycle bell he is even happier, because the girl was waiting for him to return to continue playing, just as the Army will be waiting for him to return from military service (bell was also a name considered to name the fandom, before the army). Jin is very affectionate and sweet to army. Before he went to the army for 2 years, he made a love song for army with his favorite band, Coldplay. And when ARMY feels insecure, doesn't deserve BTS, he makes the song "Moon" for army. Army will always support and wait for you!💜
Jin coming to my country Argentina for the 1st time just to perform for a 5min song was such a lovely and sweet thing to do, thank you Cris Martin for giving Jin that space to show us the one and only performance of The Astronaut before enlisting, over 40hs of traveling to give us this special moment and even though I couldn't get tickets I'm so grateful that this amazing collab and performance happened Also... Tonight was a song he wrote for his pets who are no longer with him, jjangu (his dog) and his sugar gliders... I still remember that vlive when he told us his sugar glider passed he was so sad and then he released Tonight and I just broke in tears. Jin usually is described as the more misterios out of all bts members, he always shows his good and happy side and prefers to not show when he is having a hard time maybe because he is the eldest and tries to be the one supporting the other members, he is also the one who shares the least about his private life with us in order to protect his family and his personal space and I love that part of him, he has always been a goof but also one of the more mature and wise in the group, always polite, correct and his way of expressing himself is just pure politeness Protect his soul of all bad things and btw... 1 year left for him to be discharge!!

That was hard for army as we knew that it was the last performance before he was the first to enlist...I think all of us will forever be so grateful to Chris and the band for looking after Jin so well.... he really does treat him like a little brother... it was so nice for Jin to be the Maknae for a short while... I absolutely adore this song. I went and saw the Coldplay concert broadcast live from a local movie theater and was so moved by Jin's performance. Coldplay is one of my favorite bands, so it was so great of them to give Jin this opportunity to perform before enlistment. Jin's voice suits the pop rock genre nicely.

71 year old Army here. Bummer you didn't have the version with Chris Martin's introduction of Jin. It was SO EMOTIONAL and I think it is so important to explain their relationship and story together. Coldplay gave him the song for his last gift to Army before enlistment. He flew all the way to Argentina to meet up with them on their world tour. Also, I am sure you know the MV story by now. For me, this song is tears every time. BTS probably has the best vocal line in Kpop. Thanks Pat! 💜
Yours, Ephiphany demo version, Autumn outside de Post office you should check definitely. Grammy called him Silver voice for a reason, he has been the only BTS member to gain standing ovation from japanese crowd during both his solos performances Ephiphany and Awake, this is the highest recognition from their culture, wainting for his solo Album. I speak Spanish, so I'm using translator, so it's not going to translate 100% well what I'll write. Seokjin expressed his feelings in both 'Abyss' and 'Tonight', 'Abyss' wrote it while he was going through a difficult time in 2020, Bang PD and Suga advised him to write a song and so he did, he wrote the song together with another composer. 'Tonight' on the other hand, that song I write thinking about his deceased pets, Jin loved his pets, so he was affected by their deaths a lot.
Jin has a very nice and cheerful personality, but he himself has said it, he also gets depressed and he is almost not talking about his negative feelings, but when it comes to music it is something else, he likes to expel his negative feelings through music.
You know when you mentioned what an experience it would have been to be there, made me emotional and happy cause I was there and it truly was. The atmosphere really was full of love because we all knew it was our last chance to see him perform for the last time before enlisting. Also the effort he made to be with us, all the hours he flew to Argentina just to sing us for 5 minutes, you don't find artists like him these days. Thank you for bringing the memories💗

Honestly Abyss is my favorite Jin song of all time and in my top 10 favorite of BTS songs of all time. You do not know the struggle I endured for years not being able to play it on spotify or apple music.

Abyss was he did when he was going through one of his hardest times, I still remember when they released a letter letting us know that he was taking a break from all activities because of a mental burnout and we got this song as a way of him sharing himself with us and a way to comfort us.

The Astronaut MV - At the beginning, Jin’s spaceship crashed on earth and he had to live on Earth until it could be repaired. The neighbor girl represents ARMY. He becomes close to her without realizing it. When his ship is fixed he leaves, but discovers space is just lonely. He’s all by himself there. So he turns the ship around and goes back to his “home” on earth. He said this is him having to leave ARMY for a little while for the military, but he will be back. Also, at the beginning, he is struggling with a word that he doesn’t know on the crossword. When he comes back, he realizes the word he was looking for was “family.”
Hello. I love your reaction videos. Just FYI Jin spent one week for this one show with coldplay. (you know how far from South Korea to get Buenos Aires.) He is such a contributing person. Huge love for ARMY. Simple summary for The astronaut MV. He was from outer space and was staying on earth for a while because his spaceship broke down. At the time, he was expressionless and uninterested in anything, but after interacting with a small child, Earth (where ARMYs live) became home to him and he decided to stay. Eventually he happily smiles. :)
There are so many easter eggs in this video it makes me weepy. In the crossword puzzle he is doing the black dots spell “for army” in Brail, there is a picture of him drawn in a suite that is a copy of a real picture of him as a kid, the guitar is the one he was gifted by Chris Martin, Chris makes a cameo as the news caster, and there is a quick glance of a tattoo on Jin’s neck of ARMY spelled out in Brail.
Jin was an alien who was exploring (aka an astronaut) and his ship crashed on Earth. He was taken in by a family and got close with the little girl. The beam of light showed his ship was getting fixed, so he ran to it ready to go home. We saw flashbacks of his time with the girl and he realized his home was now here on Earth, so he left his spaceship and got a ride back to his home. At the very end, he hears the girl's bike bell ring and he's going to surprise her that he stayed. The metaphor is between Jin and Army in the same way Jin is with the little girl. We are his home and we are his safe place in a world that feels like he sometimes doesn't belong. It's also telling us he will return to us after he's done in the military.
the astronaut performance with coldplay is not complete without watching Chris Martin's introduction/speech towards BTS & Jin.. It is so heartwarming to see such respect with each other..
