@Flamuu I started playing just as the British light cruiser line was released. My grandfather having served on those ships during WW2 made them my only choice. As I was grinding through Emerald, no crazy xp flags back then, I kept blowing up from single salvos. For a while I was convinced I was simply a terrible player. Yet that trauma was vital, reaching Neptune I fell in love. Under no illusions that I was any less vulnerable than the Emerald you had to play smart, cautious but opportunistic otherwise the limited range left you ineffectual. Nearly every match was an adrenaline rush. Fulfilling your role as a dd hunter left you exposed, but the thrill of charging 3 dds with hydro, juking the bbs was unreal. After that I played US dds, loved them. Very similar role, knife fighting at caps. When I tried bbs, god it was boring, where was the thrill? Then they started lowering citadels making it even less risk-reward based. CVs ruined the game for me, purely because of spotting. I could be deftly playing around my Minos stealth just for a CV to spot and be dev struck, the same with DDs. Playing BBs up to t10 (despite the boredom) I didn't mind CVs, even though their dreaded cross strikes were deadly your position was known anyway and you could shadow an anti-air cruiser. You could still play your own game. With dds one of my biggest joys was spotting for the team, I was more than happy to forgo damage from smoking up. Protecting my BBs by spotting then hunting down Shimas was so rewarding. But a CV comes into the match, suddenly your spotting is worthless. Worse than that, by trying to spot you made yourself vulnerable to the enemy CV painting a target and are now far too close to the enemy. I stopped playing around the CV rework. I remember replying to you on reddit about a year before its release saying the only thing I wanted was for CV spotting to be like cyclones, minimap only. I had little interest in coming back when the only thing they didn't change about the CV mechanics was spotting. Subs are just an extension of that, what point is there to a dd when cvs and subs do it all better. Now they are more like bbs, there to do damage. Sorry for the long comment, but what you said triggered some old Mino memories in me and I genuinely started to feel the original adrenaline. I still watch pretty much every video you and flambass put out. It scratches the WoWs itch without the torment. Thank you for the endless hours of enjoyment you have provided me.
YY gets torp reload booster though, think it was probably a second boosted volley, though Vlad was still dumb for putting an island between his escape path and the entire enemy team. I think it was reload booster because the only torpedo path where that makes sense would be fired from where the Balao was last spotted, but we see the YY near where the Edinburgh is 30 seconds later. No matter how fast the YY is I don't think it could reposition that fast, plus it makes more sense that it would want to torp Yamas broadside, rather than nose in. But still terrible for both BBs to push there, Yama was stupidly committed but Vlad had the opportunity to turn around and go defensive.
Yup. I was wondering what he was doing too, then I saw the notification that the Balao had killed him and I was like, "oh, he was getting griefed by the submarine"
This is one of the reasons why I spec Radio Location on just about all my cruisers and DD's. That extra chance of getting the one that will otherwise get away. You played it beautifully but this team could not be salvaged.
Jinan can also run the new Pan-Asian Commander which is tailored for it’s playstyle. Unlike Yodo who is stuck with Yamamoto who is a generalist that offers nothing unless you snag some very specific medals. So another win for Jinan.
In this scenario, any other ship type would have to struggle to stay undetected, no other ship type could just dive down to stay undetected by the planes overhead. DDs would be the best in this scenario, but you'd atleast have the ability to spot the damn things.
Masterful play in a hard to play ship. I love the Jinan but taking her out is the equillivant of having blinking red light that says "shoot me". The Jinan is great in Airship and Brawls where the other team has to push in.
As flamu pointed out, there are very less battleship players. Played all night today, and 2 3 bb's per game average. Only once or twice i got 4 or 5 bb's, but no bb's, and i think i understand why. Took my monti, yammi, ohio, GK and vincent out today, and every time i got fked over by subs, cv's, long range cruiser HE spam, superships, hybrids etc. There is literally no incentive to play bb's, its just griefing. So sad to see a such a core class being made obsolete by stupid decisions.
I used to play wows for that exact feeling, when every second matters and a single click can decide the outcome of a match. I loved the game so much back in 2017 - 2020, I was quite good at it too, I think 5000 matches with 60% winrate, but at some point the game became so bad that it just wasn't fun for me anymore. I switched to league of legends as my main competitive game to scratch that same itch and I haven't regretted it. The community is a lot worse but I just don't interact with it, and the game itself is actually fun and well balanced and the Devs LISTEN TO THE PLAYERS. Wows had such amazing potential but they drove it into the ground, sad but it is what it is. I log in from time to time and play one or two matches for nostalgias sake, but I can't get myself to really enjoy it anymore with all the subs and carriers ruining the experience.
@@Manticore2026 well thats common sense for PAsian DW. Yeah the video show DD but he said just teammate so i thought BB/Cruisers also could since i dont grind any PAsian line
@Mathew Long Yes, i do because he says "Okay, get out of the way pls". I am sure Flamu knows that but he simply forgot it (as I usually do as well, when I am plying Pan-Asian ships). This is only a hint to the crowed watching this video and may get confused about his acting.
The comment Jinan was fun before subs..nah Jinan was fun before CVs. Notice no CV so you aren't perma spotted while outside smoke. Yes Jinan has good AA but the CV does not even have to go for you, just spots you out and the BB's delete you without ever coming into range of your deep water torps.
I love Japanese ships, but I would have taken pan asian cruisers with 140mm guns and no smoke over what they gave us... I really like Gokase, and Shimanto is nice, but otherwise it's irredeemable.
Players? Can't live with them, and you can't kill your own teams mates (anymore). As DD main, I rage quit from ranked games almost daily, because even if YOU do everything right and your team is generally BAD, there's nothing you can do. Really sucks.
Not that WG listens or would agree, balance might work if last player (Sub) on a team loses the match. Has to engage and cap or kill to win. Force the brawl/conflict. Otherwise it's a draw or loss. That's my idea anyway
I understand the frustration, but honestly... all that guy had to do to win was run away and there are plenty of videos where you blame team mates (rightfully) for not doing just this and just throw... so yea, maybe he plays annoying class, but in the end, he did the right thing to win the game
this game is cancer, idk if i position my ship in the most dangerous spot all the time making me a high priority target for cvs or just its an unspoken rule if you see me and you have a cv and you don't hard focus me your bloodline will be cursed for a thousand years
For a player that knows what they are doing it is super easy to spot a red player that has skills. If you are playing well and correctly, it is obvious and you WILL be focused by other skilled players. So...good job, I guess?
@@Matthew10950 no...the ones who are focused are the ones that make themselves easy to focus...if you feel like you are being focused an unusually frequent number of times either its in your head and you are being focused no more or less than anyone else, but get upset whenever you are focused at all, or your positioning is shit and you should be conscious of that and work on it
