I have had mixed results with Chinese Jinhao pens. Some work fine. Others had many problems that weren’t worth the trouble to fix. I live in the USA. Currently I am collecting Noodler’s pens which are made in India. I don’t know who makes them for Noodler’s but they are great pens. I am also collecting India made pens from Fountain Pen Revolution. They are the company branded pens and I don’t know who makes these either. But they are also very good pens. The Noodler’s pens are made from a vegetal resin. My FPR pens are made from ebonite. I love the pens that are made in India. Every one I have write beautifully and took very little time to make them write so nicely. If I lived in India, I would use nothing but India made pens. They are so nice. I haven’t ordered a custom Ranga pen yet. But I plan to order one soon.
I had very bad experience with this pen. Previously i had jinhao 159 n X450 in medium which wrote smoothly. So i ordered x159 (fine nib because medium nib is not available in india i think) and Jinhao 9019 in medium. The fine x159 chinese nib was good but Jinhao nib 9019 was dry. Then I increased the slit a little and smoothened the nib. Now it is writing better. But x159 fine nib is good writer. Dry writing issue i had with Jinhao 82 also. My final thought is Jinhao increased production, making good looking copy of pens..but nibs are not good. When i am spending money i wish out of the box the pen should write beautifully without further fine tuning the nib. I decided not to collect Chinese pens.
Your vídeos are so good sir. Love to wach your reviews sir. In Brazil we can buy Jinhao and sometimes pens, ballpoint pens and and ink (Brill) made in Índia, pencils (Natarraj) etc. I think the products made in Índia are excelent and you have a gorgeous industry. Best regards from Brazil, Mário.
The 9019 is glorious. I have two pens with different widths. I also found that you can exchange the nibs with the X159. Some people think the 9019 is too wide. I think it fits my grip very well, even though I have medium sized hands. It allows me to write with less pressure on the paper and less fatigue in the hand. Very nice review.
Thank you for this review of what appears to be a major new fountain pen. I now own this Jinhao 9019 in all seven color permutations I've seen offered. All of them work flawlessly out of the gate and are a joy to use. It is just a fantastic pen. The oversized converter allows this Jinhao to compete with piston fillers in ink capacity. It is a large, inexpensive fountain pen that holds a lot of ink and writes well. I agree that this may knock a few competitors out of the market, but only those that do not offer a healthy value proposition to fountain pen consumers. It overshadows the Jinhao x159 which was one of the best pens introduced in 2022. And the Jinhao 9019 Dadao will not be considered a classic vintage pen in thirty years. There will be just too many in the marketplace for this pen to ever be rare that soon. I have a few old Hero fountain pens that are about 30 years old that are nice but not rare, classic or vintage.
Personally I'm not so excited about big pens, so I never understood why Indian pens often went that large direction. I have small handwriting and don't need excessive ink for sketching. My hand gets tired from writing when a pen has too much girth. Happy that Junhao made a large converter, although I see someone noted Kanwrite also has the same. I can't afford a Namiki either but would rather not have a knock off especially one that frankly looks so gaudy. I am sure others will enjoy, but it seems rather Trumpy with the shiny bling. Oh well, that's just me. Interesting questions in your review, Chawm. I certainly don't think that one could consider it a vintage pen by any standards. Have a good end of the year. Aloha.
Good video. Very nice thing was told by you that don’t compare it with any other pen. Look at it as individual pen and look for its features. One good news is that Jinhao has started giving medium nibs. I am not a big fan of fine nib. I prefer medium or broad nibs. I personally prefer Indian fountain pen over Chinese ones but I like jinhao 82 fountain pen. Good pen. But it comes only with fine nibs. I am not purchasing it for this only reason. Hope that will get medium nib in jinhao 82 also. Take care. Keep up the good work. Bye.

Sir, I agree with you. Jinhao is making very good fountain pens. I use a Parker 51 2021 edition and a Jinhao 86 regularly. Both are great writers. The main difference is in their price. The P51 costs almost INR 8000, whereas the J86 costs just INR 400.
Heard about you from Hemingway Jones. New subscriber. I have not been attracted to the Chinese pens except for the Mahjong Q1. Just picked up the 9019 and x159. The x159 writes great and feels comfortable in hand. The 9019 may be too girthy..the jury is still out.
I ordered this, actually imported this when it arrived newly paying 1300/-. Dada this is currently available around 500 rupees. When new you feel this is a great pen, after using a few days these pens will be full of scratches, like other cheap pens. The converter is not new, Kanwrite has been doing such things since a long time. The good is the nib. Its great for the price. I have the fine one. The clip is so stiff that I guess it will break soon or the cap top due to cheap plastic if used without little care. Overall a good pen at 500 but overhyped.
