it depends on the modding application bro. I am using 3dmigoto. It doesnt modify any game files, it just modify your graphic card setting so it appears that you are using skins on your world, but when you are in coop, your coop friend can see the default skins of your character unless they are using mod also. Just to be sure you are safe, just dont post a modded clip with your UID in it. Coz someone evil might report it. I am using it also on Genshin :)
