People are seeing the crazy amount of talent this band possesses and it's showing in the attention and admiration they're receiving. I can't believe I get to see Jinjer live here in Vancouver BC on Oct 31. Yep Halloween night with Jinjer. To say I'm looking forward to it would be an perverse understatement.

Somehow I missed this reaction. Good analysis. In the defense of the video, this song is a personal "call to the universe" by Tati to find someone she's mentally and spiritually compatible with. I feel like the growls are a warning she isn't always sugar and spice. ;) But yeah, more of the guys is always a good thing because as epic as Tati's vocals are their music is very much a team effort and a huge part of the appeal is the seamless musicianship by the guys. The reason this song features so heavenly on the vocalist is because this song was written about her search for her soulmate, whom she believes may be in another dimension. This song is her calling out to her other half somewhere out there.

Vlad, and, Eugene make up, easily, the best, most innovative rhythm section in music today.

This song (and Pisces as well) is very personal to Tatiana, that's why there's a bigger emphasis on her than on the rest of the band.

I agree. The band deserves more attention. It will come, once people get over the shock of Tatiana's talent. Happened to me as well. It's the band as a whole that I love now.

to anyone new to Jinjer yes the focus is initially on Tatiana but to those more familiar with them, we know how good each of them is and how solid a band they are...it would be great to check out more from them, there's a lot to see and they've only just wrapped up recording their new album due out later this year, so there's more on the way

Not sure if you're going to get around to another Jinjer song, but like others have said, "Teacher, Teacher!" is great. My personal favorite (and also a fairly popular one to react to) is "Perennial". Oh, and if you'd like to see a focus on the guitarist, here he is playing a complete playthrough of "I Speak Astronomy", sans vocals. You are totally right, the video puts just Tatiana and not recognize the rest of the band... good point.

I definitely recommend Who Is Gonna Be The One, especially the live video. You can just FEEL the energy, and nothing can be chalked up to studio magic.

Would love to see Dip a Sail. I never see this song getting any buzz and it's one of my favorites from them, such an amazing instrumental section, criminally underrated.

Isn't it what happens in most of the music videos? Usually the focus is on the vocalist. Anyway, you can see a lot from the guys in the videos of "Ape" and "Teacher, Teacher", or the live video of "Who Is Gonna Be The One".

Glad you got around to this one, Jim! I totally agree that it would be nice to see more of the band since they are exceptional. I always point that out to other's reactions to Jinjer since the focus is so much on Tatiana. I do understand it though since she is some real eye candy in addition to her fantastic vocals. 😍

Jim, the cherry on the cake and the final proof is to listen to Perennial - Live at Wacken. Tight and deep band altogether. Simply phenomenal. Please, do that and you won't be disappointed.

They don't have a bad song, so Jinjer all the time would be good.

i agree they dont show the instrumentalists enough. and nobody is dead weight in this band they all could play solo and kick ass. they are pretty low key in most of the videos, but i like when we get closeups on their hands and showcases their virtuosity. sometimes they do such subtle things its hard to catch unless youre watching up close. mb they are shy?

I think why they focus alot on Tatiana in this MV might be because it's a love song and the director probably wanted to get closer to Tatianas expressions and emotions. That's what I think atleast. PS: It's a MUST that you listen to teacher! teacher!, Perennial (my fav song), and I really like dreadful moments, especially the technicality in the music is just stunning

In my mind, this is the "MTV video". It's quite old, with the previous drummer - the drummer in Pisces (live session) is the new guy, Vlad. You're spot on with the criticism of the lack of balance between the band members in this video. To be fair, usually we get to see Eugene slapping his bass around, Roman fretting like a madman and Vlad killing his drumkit. May I suggest "Teacher, teacher" as another Jinjer track you might enjoy. It's a bit more progressive, Tatiana gets to show off many of her vocal skills, plus it's rather good. Failing that, "Perennial" is similarly top notch.

Jinjer reminds me of Primus with the bass.

Check out the making of video for this filmclip, you'll see that Tatiana is actually really humble, almost shy, yet still a tiger. And she looks so amazing in this filmclip. For some real Ukrainian folk music, try the band Hate Forest, album Battlefields. Related to Drudkh.

You should react to more man. They're amazing. React to the official videos. The live stuff is great but you hear the music as they want it in the official stuff.

This video in particular does highlight Tati more than the other members. I think it was more a director choice than anything else. Most of their other videos show the whole band save a few. Teacher Teacher you must do next, the official video. It's fantastic.

Yeah, but this is probably the only video where the focus is only on her, I guess because the title has "I" in it.

Now for jinjer - i'm inlove.(and I'm sure I'm not the only one..) the musicianship is on another level but lets leave that aside for now, they just compliment eachother and blend together so well. Says he's still not convinced its really her voice. Rather than reacting to a live on stage performance - which would settle the matter once and for all - he choses a video. The logic escapes me.

In this case, I'd say it's OK when it looks like "Tatiana & backing band", because the song is about her. She said in an interview it's kind of "sending her wishes out to the universe". She was single that time and it looks like she was unhappy with it. She said "Pisces" and "I Speak Astronomy" are her most personal songs on the album. Her astrological sign is Pisces, obviously. For the suggestions of more Jinjer songs, I'll go with the existing ones: Perennial (Live at Wacken) and Teacher, Teacher! (Official video). Do Perennial first. :-)

I'd recommend watching (even if not as a reaction) the performance of this at Resurrection Fest. Part of the focus on Tati in this song is that it was written as her call to the universe to find someone she can connect with mentally and spiritually. Tati is obviously the frontperson and certainly their USP (well put, that) but usually, the balance is more like Pisces.

I can't believe you were able to wait a year before you listened to a second song from Jinjer. You either have far more self control than I, or you have entirely too many bands on your docket. Lol At any rate, it's high time you take the Jinjer dive. Listen to just about any song you want to (there are plenty of great recommendations in the comments) because they literally don't have a bad song!

There isn't really any weak spots in this band. I personally admire especially the bass player and the drummer. And this song is very well composed, too. It has almost a progressive vibe to it. Tatjana isn't one of a kind singer, though she's really talented and gifted. There's a band called Infected Rain and their singer can crawl pretty convincingly, too. Check out their songs Mold and Orphan Soul. Tight band and really good singer. Infected Rain are on the same record label that Jinjer and they are familiar to each other as far as I know.

Good reaction! Great song, one of their best (among all their best!!). Agreed - they are most definitely a "band", and not jsut Tati's group. Go check out "Ape" - newer song, super progressive, very creative, and the vid catches your desire to see more of the entire group. All things Jinjer!

Believe me, you're late. For a long time we all know that the drummer (not the drummer in this video), the bass player and the guitar are phenomenal musicians. This video is already old. The band is not unknown... It tells you a Chilean who lives in the ass of the world. But if it's a video, many times you prefer a pretty woman singing great and not some ugly men playing great.

Jim, looking at your other tastes in music, if you havn't heard Space Ritual then you really should. It's Nik Turner's (ex of Hawkwind) band and features a lot of other ex-Hawkwind guys too. They did a mixture of early Hawkwind and their own stuff live and put out original albums too. I feel this one is better live. Tatianas performance to this is very sultry. The clip basically hides the meaning of the song since astronomy is not at all the point, is just a useful metaphor to allow writing an "r-rated" song.

If you'd read the lyrics and attempt to understand the song then maybe you'd understand why the rest of the band is pushed into the background after the initial appearance. I expect a little more effort to be put into a reaction.

This is just a music video! Don't agree at all with the observation you made. How many music videos did you watch where there is just the vocalist on it? I bet a few?! Well, the first listening to this song i didn't really like it that much, but over the time it has grown on me and now i love it! Such a great band
