I was thinking about adding this to my collection. Best Electronics has this new in box for $30. In fact this is the 7800 game with both sides of the box pictured on the famous site. But thanks to this review I will not be wasting my money on this one. The futuristic pickle/wiffle ball will not be annoying me.
Why why why can’t Atari 7800 games have BGM in the stages!!?? Almost none of them have any! The answer is because Jack was cheap but they were hurting themselves because it made the games look so much lesser compared to NES stuff.
The carts were meant to have audio chips on them for enhanced audio when necessary. But only 2 ever had audio chips and none used the Minnie that GCC had started developing. A crying shame
I had not heard of this one before. You are right, at first it sounds very intriguing, level progression with breakout style gameplay? Sounds great! However the longer I watched the video the more I agree that this looks miserable. I don't know that I agree about the sound, I think that's just What you get with Atari games for the most part. Granted the one where the ball hits a ton of bricks and makes that buzzing sound was pretty bad LOL Since you say you like the breakout style games what did you think about breakout recharged? I was actually a little underwhelmed to be honest.... Great video as usual!
I was underwhelmed by Breakout Recharged as well. Honestly I prefer the new breakout game on the Atari 50th. I'm hoping we get Tile Smashers from Video61 soon to the Atari 7800 but I'm probably gonna cave and get the 5200 version. Maybe I was too harsh on the sound but idk there are plenty of Atari 7800 games that I like the sound of. This one might range from average to awful but there's too much awful in my opinion. As always thanks for watching!
