An extensive and interactive Facebook live session debunking the possibility of demonic possession. The session highlights the textual, empirical and rational contentions surrounding this topic and dissects the inconsistencies.
Always felt that it was something irrational with Jinn posesession. And I am no "modernist" etc. The things you mentioned about not being accountable then is also something that I thought about. If jinn possession and control was real, then a person who was in jail waiting for his punishment could act as if there was some jinn in him and thereby try to make a case that a jinn controlled him all along whilst he committed a crime. The evidence they use for jinn possession is 2:275 in the Qur'aan: " Those who eat Riba (usury) will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaitan (Satan) leading him to insanity." and the ayah continues. I do not understand how "person beaten by Shaiytan leading him to insanity" is an evidence for that jinn can control people. And as you mentioned, it seems that there are evidences completely contradictory to the idea that jinn can control people. Mufti, you are a rare gem. I don't agree with you on everything, but in many ways you are fresh breath of air so to speak.
very interesting ....what about when muslims have ruqya done on them and they start freaking out and their voices change?.....I've seen it...it was freaky.
