i would like to add a thing that many people didnt really notice... the scene 11:43 it shows that jisoo is the pistil of the flower and is surrounded by the petals (all the girls) where the petals are with different emotions which shows how she was surrounded and traped in between her emotions.. but at the last she removes her flower choker and escapes herself from the maze of
YG really said 'we're gonna use the hell out of Jisoo's acting skills'. That was the perfect decision too! The song is really good, it makes me feel warm inside. And Jisoo was amazing here, I can clearly see why she's a BP member. She has raw charisma and talent.
I agree 💯 they made a good choice with the movie-like video, I’d love to see her in a mystery thriller 🍿 Also- she’s more than just a member, she’s the glue that keeps them all together… the strong backbone of support every eldest member should be, uplifting all of their talents together and individually… Blackpink is the biggest band because of her, so humble and graceful 🌹
Finally, someone talked about the story, the theme, the music video wants to portray, the art of it. THANK YOU! all I see are people reacting with the outfits. Basically, the surface. Not connecting it to the song. And it bothers me because Jisoo likes to tell stories and she's very much creative.
I actually think that Jisoo is, like she says on the lyrics, a butterfly, and her ex, was the flower. After they broke up, "there was nothing left but the scent of a flower". Her looking at the flowers where here being mesmerized with him, here throwing the flowers was her angry at him, she was the butterfly, attracted to this flower. Butterflies are also colorful, and on a scene, she was wearing a bright black outfit at night, like night butterflies or moths. Thats the reason she takes out her flower choker at the end, cause she no longer has that flower.
i would like to add a thing that many people didnt really notice... the scene 11:44 it shows that jisoo is the pistil of the flower and is surrounded by the petals (all the girls) where the petals are with different emotions which shows how she was surrounded and traped in between her emotions.. but at the last she removes her flower choker and escpes herself from the maze of petals 🤗🤗 whatsoever.... OUR UNNIE SLAYEDDDD... THE WHOLE WORLD WAS WAITING FOR THIS SHE DIDNT LET US DOWN :)))))))))))💫💫
@@chvv7776 yes u can say that but try to look closely u will se a girl who will be very happy on the right sad of jisoo(upper) and u can see. Left where they look confident and right where one girl looks kinda angry like typa and when u see downwards u will see a girl for real sad(really noticeable).. and I made this theory on the basis of what I noticed and saw on the mv:) theories aren't 100% true
for me i just see and understand the criticism for this song but the song, the lyrics, the music, the tonality all come together perfectly with the mv shots, colors, jisoo’s acting and styling and it’s just all so perfect to me that i’m satisfied with the final product i’m so happy it’s been so long since i’ve been completely immersed into a kpop comeback aside from my ults and jisoo did THAT
I think it's the most different song from all 4 solos, so it makes sense that it divides some people. SOLO, On the Ground, Lalisa, were pure YG songs, Flower, while it has the same structure, does not sound like a pure YG song. I also like the fact that ALL EYES ON ME and FLOWERS are very coherent together, with the same sounds and tonalities.
True! I understand the criticism but concept comes through strong and really fits the soyaaa vibe and I love that because that is so her and she is so comfortable and flawless throughout the mv I’m so proud of her, being a huge jisoo Stan😫🤩
@@Chivvv Even the MV is pretty unique, with a strong concept. It's like people criticising Hush Rush from Chaeyeon, saying it was boring when she served THE concept. Not all songs needs to have crazy adlibs and crazy structures. I think it shuts the mouth of people who said that Jisoo was the least interested in music, with such a concept, MV, song, I doubt she is not interested in music at all.
I agree so much, the lyrics are just so beautiful and the set, the vocals and the girl herself rocked. It suits her vibe so much. I honestly don't understand the "criticism". I was waiting for this sort of soft song to come out and Jisoo did not disappoint.
@@jessicajessica4392 could talk a better example. Serving the concept is the most important thing. vocals, classy choreography mixed with stage presence can create a bomb solo debut 🥰
Jisoo's solo is definitely THE REVOLUTION. The concept is very calm but fierce, the outfits are very beautiful, totally my favorite solo of all the pinks solos.
Actually the entire MV is a reference to Everything Everywhere All At Once. It's "Next Day Same Time Same Place" there are many Jisoos, it's like an actual multiverse. In each universe she's dealing with this break up. The last scene is from the same moment the Chapter 1 appeared, which shows us the universe where she moved on, that she ended well
Jisoo has an air of misery and elegance. she is unpredictable, with her there is always surprises that's why I like her.. she will not give you a typical or common style or performance, always unique and different.. ❤
The whole aesthetic of the video makes it look like a big Dior commercial which i am absolutely here for. This somehow sounds exactly like what i expected ( didnt watch the teasers ) while at the same time being completely different from what i expected...HOW? Also how is it even possible for someone to be THIS gorgeous? Honestly my favorite solo from the members. Jisoo's voice is amongst my favorite voices in the world, there's just something so unique about her vocal tone that makes it even hard to explain. Almost like her voice makes 2 notes at the same time, like she as integrated harmonies in her vocal chords? Idk. Visuals are just... I mean its Jisoo so 😂 For some reason the scene/shot that sticks with me the most is when she breaks the pearl necklace, something so beautiful and powerful at the same time, idk, this scene really stands out for me. Absolutely love this its just so Jisoo.
The chapter names makes sense when you put it together: Next Day, Same Time, Same Place. To me it looks like Jisoo has arrived the next day (of her breakup/disaster) at the same time (when it happened) and the same place (where it happened). The present day Jisoo is the one wearing sparkling blue dress and maybe she's reminiscing of the past (her with the flower, her in the hotel, her wearing white dress) and coming in terms with it all (her dancing in different colours) before finally moving on (walking away and removing the flower choker).
So the bits where she is dancing in all the bright dresses and looking at the necklace in the shop, is that supposed to be her reminiscing in her mind back to the original time and place where the break up was?? Or was she actually going back and re-living it? I’m still trying to wrap my head around the chapters concept lol
That makes so much sense! And I would say that it's broken up into chapters because these are sort of stages of processing for her. It's next day - that is already in the past, this is a new day. Same time - she looks back at that moment, but also looks at the relationship from the outside, is able to see all of it finally. Same place - she is able to calmly revisit the space that used to be about the relationship and breakup, everything feels changed because she herself has changed, and she is now free. This makes sense in my head at least lol
Her solo album is so addictive, literally played it over 20 times already. Thank you for a breakdown of this gorgeous mv Jordan! Everyone go stream "ME"! Lets help Jisoo Unnie ❤
Really enjoyed your reaction to this one! Honestly I expected you to have less to appreciate because it "feels" like there's a lot less going on compared to most kpop music videos, but watching your insight into and acknowledgement of all the creative decisions in this was really great.
i think the message for choosing that venue for the video is to imply thats where she met the person who told her they loved her and she comes to visit the next day at same time around and all thats left is a scent of flowers, where flowers symbolize kind gestures and the affirmation to make her feel shes the only one. also the music video kinda made it look like its a hotel or something so she needs to dress up for some occasion ig and the she wore pearls and nice dresses. the one in the first chorus kinda felt like she was blinded by the "flowers" she received thats why the dancers have blindfolds in the scene, and the one the blooms in her palm was trying to say she believed its gonna last forever cuz our palms mean future? the dancing alone in some ball room is like reminscing thats where they had these happy memories or something. at the beginning of the video she kinda seemed nervous cuz she was afraid shed get recocgnized by the maids for visiting the place again thats why she looked away when the maid walked past her? the music video shows how simple a girl's mind is, i could relate to having ppl around trying to convince of what they want us to be and forgetting what we truly are but we always come back to realising we went way too far by the time weve been lied to and hurt. i always check your videos to learn about visuals and editing and youre super amazing! now i just had the balls to comment and im happy lol. i look forward to seeing your videos in the future i sure will love them!
I also noticed Jisoo’s teary eye in 11:08 and the next scene, you can see that they intentionally put glitters. Which makes it a very smooth transition. Lastly the story ends with her moving on because at the beginning the back up dancers were blindfolded, then at the end the back up dancers werent.
Not jisoo expressing my emotions throughout the day. 8 am happy to be alive. 12pm hangry. 3pm crying in my bedroom. 10pm dancing away my fears and acting confident.. 😂😊❤
I love the "BlackPink" nod towards the end. The dancers wore black and had their hands painted pink. Also, Jisoo in the center in bright pink. 💗💗 Love it!
Controversial statement: I have a fairly strong notion that the subtext of the video is that rather than it being an ordinary love story, Jisoo is playing a sex worker, a 'flower girl.' In past centuries in China, Japan and Korea, the title 'sing-song girl' (Chinese:), or 'flower girl,' was a slang term for a courtesan. The yellow building which Jisoo stands outside of, looking in at a set of pearls, was painted that colour specifically for this MV shoot. It strongly suggests the 1996 Korean film 'Yellow House,' which is about a sex worker who struggles with her identity when she is forced to leave the Yellow House brothel of the title. Jisoo is playing the role of someone who is deeply conflicted by her profession, with all the waiting around in hotel rooms and lobbies, avoiding eye contact with maids and elevator operators, plus all the inevitable heartbreak and loneliness. At the same time she is still attracted to the money she makes and the sense of power it brings, as this may be her only alternative to poverty. The tearing off of the choker at the end is a signal of the character taking charge of her independence. She is no one's pet or possession. PS: This is a description of a role that actress Jisoo is playing. It is not actually a description of our wonderful Jisoo, the brilliant and talented actor and singer from Blackpink.
Love your insights, picked out a lot of great details! YG stated that this video had the biggest production budget of all Blackpink video's so far, utilizing the Universal Studios New York Street set and the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. When at home in Korea, Blackpink uses a camera setup with three Arri Alexa in a hand held, rail mount and articulating crane setup. This one likely was shot on Universal Studios movie cameras. I guess we will see when the behind the scenes video comes out.
I've seen a lot of people complaining that the production is too empty, but I love it. Kpop producers rarely leave so much space, and the samples are crisp as hell.
Like this is what I expected from Jisoo's Debut I mean she gives Princess vibes ,calm and fresh . This music is soo good and It's definitely her song...
Thank you for your reaction. It's not to see people like you appreciating Jisoo's solo and acknowledging her efforts and skills put into making this MV.
After looping her song for 90 straight minutes, I knew I had to watch your reaction to see the MV from a different view to further appreciate what I already knew was an instant classic! And, of course, you added such depth to understand why I was enjoying everything the way I did!! Great job!
I loved how the music video was relaxing and calming. It kinda reminds me of Jennie's Solo (which I believe it was intentional). The song fits Jisoo's style. Congratulations to Jisoo. Now everyone has their solos.
When Jordan imitated the backup dancer it was so funny I died I’m so happy Jisoo got her solo and it wasn’t disappointing it was good and suits her so much
Before seeing this review i thought It was amazing and now after seeing this I feel like jisoo flower is most unique mv in k-pop. Thanks for you review ❤
You know.EVERYONE ONE OF DRESSES is Dior. It said it on the compact right at the.beginning and she IS a Dior ambassador she she is making these runway dresses are beautiful than they are on the actual runway! You know.she BANKED!!! REGARDLESS!!! WHAT A GODDESS!!!!
chap 1: next day chap 2: same time chap 3: same place So it's kind of hinted that this song is about her relationship with her fans and how the reality of being an idol is that it won't last forever. I'd like to think she's telling her fans that if they're keen she'll always be there. Though she can't remain a flower forever, next day, same time, same place, let's meet again. At the end, she removes her flower choker, removing her identity as just a pretty flower/female idol. It is like hinting that in the next chapter of her relationship with her fans and relationship with herself, she'll remove the mask of being just a pretty flower It's interesting how you said that she never speaks the lyrics in the mv. When she wears the gorgeous flowery ball gown, flicking her arms like scattering a flower scent across the hallways, no one in the hotel interacts with her (which helps with dehumanising her and making her become this beautiful flower that is just in a fancy hotel. To further support this, the cat in the mv have a pink nose when it's next to her like it's having allergies to her scent). The only time she speaks the lyrics is when she's dancing with the dancers (barely) and when she's speaking to her own reflection. It adds to the narrative that like a flower, she doesn't speak her opinions when she's 'performing' her idol role. She only start reflecting about her relationship with herself and have opinions when she's by herself. When she has that heart outfit and walks away confidently, it feels like she's walking away full of love and confidence. She understand who she is and has accepted all of it.
12:12 Jisoo is actually wearing a special outfit by Reparto Studio, a Spanish Brand where the heart corset is made up of the tags/labels of other emerging Spanish designers and the skirt is made out of posters found in the streets of Madrid. :) Btw, i love your reaction video for Jisoo, thank you so much! This is proof that film is timeless and beautiful.
It's also nice to note that the dancers eventually lose their red blindfolds when they made the pink flower formation. The specific dance step seemed to be symbolic of Jisoo (or her character in the song) that she has already bloomed, with eyes wide open finally seeing the truth and/or already has the strength to see what's ahead of her.
When you said that “It really fit the theme of the song” that’s when it hit me (even though you weren’t talking about the song). That the reason the song was composed to have a more calm and empty melody was because it reflected the theme and Jisoo was trying to show. The song felt very melancholic and it was mostly told in past tense. Like it was a song told about the past, a past that is sad but in the present she’s already over it. Therefore the song doesn’t sound like a sad story just a story that had happened in the past. A feeling of some what nostalgia which is also reflected in the film camera. A lot of people said that this song was a ‘safe’ song which made it boring but I think there was a reason behind why the melody sounded the way it did and in reality most k-pop songs don’t sound like this, it’s usually more loud and energetic, which isn’t a bad thing I just think that she did go outside the ‘safe k-pop zone’ and really developed a song that is unique to k-pop.
Why people saying that jisso's solo is not that good but I think I fall in love with it every time I heard that song it feels better and better every time I am really addicted to it and I really appreciate jisoo's hardwork proud of you jisoo❤
dude, i wasn't expecting any reaction from you for this m/v (despite of the fact that i ALWAYS wait for your detailed & funny reactions) bcs i thought jisoo's m/v didn't really show any special editing technique/ semiotically deep meaning, but i'm glad you DID. i just realized it all now after watching you. thank you so much for that!! (p.s. i've subscribed😂🫰🏻)
ONE OF MY MOST WAITED REACTION FOR JISOO FLOWER MV 😍 I UNDERSTAND MORE THE STORY BECAUSE OF YOUR EXPLANATION IN IT THANK YOU FOR THIS WONDERFUL REACTION 👏💕🌷
I’m fully addicted to this song and video… I was wondering why it was so beautiful so thank you for explaining, it’s the film! 🎬 (and Jisoo of course) love your attention to detail, your commentary is awesome… subscribed 🤍
Love the way how you talk about the editing part and the beat part. She put lot of different emotions inside, she has good acting skill, this is her talent. She said she keep discovering new sides of her and wanted to show us, she keeps trying different thought and keep having different meeting on her solo album. What I can say is this song suit her so much, she just need to be herself no need to compare with others. Another masterpiece and everything so mesmerising. Her voice, her visual, her style, her emotions everything on point. She express the emotion well through MV. Love her so much. Can't wait to see she get awards
I was waiting for you and as usual you did not disappoint. Great reaction as always! Btw i really really love the song. It's been hours but i'm still not feeling bored listening to this
I never thought to interpret the story in JISOO's music video from the perspective of video production, and it really amazed me. Through the explanation of the camera, I could feel the powerful sense of sadness and confidence even more. JISOO's performance was beautiful, powerful, and infectious!
The pearl necklace that she had on with the flower pattern dress, it is the same necklace she is looking at in the store window (light blue dress scene). Like she felt trapped and then free as she removed the necklace. Something she admired, was not worth it.
Thank you for pointing out that her movements are to the snap beats and it makes it smooth, because from my point of view, I was hearing the other parts and it was messing with my perception of the video, which made it feel sudden. I really love your breakdowns of the music videos, it makes me appreciate the work of the video and the artist more.
I love the structured textile dress she wears in the ballroom scene... it gives me Scarlett O'Hara's curtain dress vibes. I feel like this video makes a really good companion piece to Jenni's "Solo" if not just because of all the impeccably elegant fashion choices.
Wow! I actually understood the MV better after watching this! I've watched it a couple of times already but I was so focused on the sophisticated choreography and how beautiful Jisoo is. So thank you and subscribed!
The K-Pop fandom is extremely used to extremely hype, fast moving, and energetic songs; and so it makes me a bit sad when I saw there was a lot of "criticism" about how "empty" or "plain" the M/V was, when I thought it was beautiful and well executed with a greatly driven theme. I hope more M/Vs like this occur in the k-pop industry, it gets a tad boring/predictable when a lot of groups go for the same editing style.
I saw your thumbnail show up when I searched for her new song and I thought, I'm going to watch the music video first and really focus on how its shot....Then I'm going to watch his review video. And see if I picked up on anything. I PICKED UP ON NOTHING. lol. its so interesting to hear all the nuances you notice. When I was watching, I just accepted that this was a well done video. So cool to watch you pick it apart and explain why I inherently thought this.
I'm a huge jisoo stan but after watching the mv 7 time straight I felt like the shooting was done in a rush and some parts really suck like the dancer in the back in some scenes and the cuts it was somewhat a mess but the whole mv was saved by our jisoo' s acting skills!!!❤❤❤ And obviously her vocals the were angelic loved it❤
Bro wdym "some parts really suck" lmao? Yes, Jisoo's acting & voice are so perfect, she did a fantastic job. But the visuals and choreography were amazing too. The video itself is amazing, so please don't even start. I get that's it's your opinion but stil 😀🚶
@@ionelalexandra I never said that jisoo didn't gave her best whether it's vocal , visuals or choreography I was talking about the back dancers and the editing was nice but as compared to other member's mv it was a bit plain NO HATE TO QUEEN JISOO!! She slayed ❤️
@@lavender_sushi Yeah don't worry, I know that you're not hating on Jisoo. I kinda get why would you dislike the editing or the dancers in the back, but hey at the end of the day it's still amazing. They did a pretty great job, but that's just my opinion. Our queen Jisoo finally released her solo album and that's what matters ♡✨
her moves with the emotions and also sets and colors contrast, her dreamy voice and lyrics all are freaking insane together i love how you show small details in it ….. 🤍
She's soo beautiful.. the mv is so beautiful. Everything is just beautiful. Mind you she had to filmed this in the middle of BornPink tour, so she could only filmed in two sets, Universal Studio L.A, and Millennium Biltmore Hotel Los Angeles. But it came out so beautiful, I love it so much.
I've been a blink since 2018 and I'm kinda disappointed of this mv that we all waited for but turned out to be a flop. (It's my opinion so don't flood the hate comments to me)
