I remember this day like it was yesterday. I was driving home up Beachwood Canyon Rd on that afternoon and strange enough saw Jon E Love and a couple chicks pulled over in a white convertible looking towards the hills. They were armed with a video camera and binoculars. Having briefly worked as a Guitar Tech for Love/Hate along with my good Dave Brandani (R.I.P. Brando) I knew Jon. I parked and ran over to them. "What's up Jon, what the hell are you looking at?" Laughing, Jon points to the sign and said, " Jizzy is crucifying himself on the "Y". This was before the helicopters, so I was able to watch the whole event unfold with a perfectly clear sight line from the roof of my apartment building. I watched every news broadcast that evening. Jizzy is an Amercian Badass
Jizzzo, what an epic epic story! I remember that like it was yesterday. I waa the bass player for the band Femme Fatale at that time and the drummer (Bobby Murray) and i were huge L/H fans. I remember watching this on the news and us saying "Holy shit, that dudes flipping nuts! why didnt we think of that. Now im gonna jam out to some L/H Dont Fuck With Me.
GREAT story Jizzo! Wow you are one brave MFR. I know this to be true as I filmed at the Hollywood Sign in 90s for an Indie movie I produced. I actually got a permit (very hard to do) and the approval of Park Ranger (at the time) Officer Hernandez (a very tough dude). The terrain there is STEEP... F'IN STEEP... and that road? OMG I drove it up and down 3 times in a day .... get this old 50s Caddy. (our pic car). And a few times had those super huge SCE trucks pass me... a white knuckle drive... So bro... that's NUTS what you did... OMG we had ropes and belts on as you can easily in 1 second slip and C ya. I almost did twice. So HOW did you carry that down? I can't believe so many ppl used to go up there drunk and high. Believe me I heard sooooo many stories from the Ranger and what and WHAT not to do. So Jizzo LOVE you as musician but my hat is seriously off to you for doing that. Absolutely bad azzzz and so glad you did not get hurt. That is legendary Bro...
Ha Ha too Funny Bro. The Crazy things we do! So what did they Charge you with by the way! Did you have to go in front of the JUDGE and the whole court thing?
I did three days community service, that was it. I had a good lawyer who I paid $1,000.00 to get me out of hot water. They wanted me to pay for the fire trucks, the ambulances, they even suggested I pay to re-paint the sign! Ouch!
Wasn’t it on CNN too; Jizzo? No reporters seemed to get your name right. Thats how i remember seeing it and them giving you a ton of community service to punish you from such an awful criminal act…
