You do realize there was a reason that teams like the Pistons beat up Jordan and made rules especially designed to target a player like him (the Jordan Rules)... Right? Because he was dominate and they knew exactly what they needed to do to stop him. There are elements of fear/anxiety in that mindset when teams have to tailor make gameplans and basically go WWE on a player on the court. In retrospect, the way teams beat Lebron in today's game is basically daring him to shoot and not letting him get near the rim. Basic stuff. Go look at what players who played against Jordan have to say about him after they trash talked them and MJ sent them packing. I'm sorry, but people will not talk about Lebron the same way they do about Jordan. He'll be remembered as a great team facilitator who had a really long career and accumulated a lot of stats - he won't be remembered as being as good a winner as MJ.

So where is the bias in these segments. I dont care for Stephen A. that much, but nothing he said was really wrong. MJ definitely had a different aura to him than Lebron did - especially going into the 90's. He was absolutely dominate and took over games and where that aura might not have existed when he played teams like the Pistons in the 80's, there was a reason they developed things like the "Jordan Rules" and why guys like Bird called him a virtual God in the NBA world. Go look at what players who played against Jordna have to say about him after they trash talked them and MJ sent them packing. Lebron RARELY gets that man. Mainly because he has a different mindset, isn't as dominate a player (when looking at game to game dominance), and doesn't win as much.

He had Cam Johnson from the Nets on and they were talking about shooting and the mechanics, then went into how some guys like Ray Allen could come off picks in different ways. They broke it down and simplified it but also made you realize why they are able to do it and we can’t. Now I’ll be watching people’s foot settings coming off picks, were they able to square their shoulders going right or going left, just insane how much you learn.

I wonder if JJ is slowly and consciously taking down ESPN. Stephen A is vindictive, insecure, volatile, and ultimately no more knowledgeable than your average teenage sports fanatic. I would love to see Stephen A leave ESPN in disgrace, so I would encourage JJ to keep making him look stupid. Stephen A’s suit and TV persona don’t make home a role model. He is petty and slippery to a degree that makes Skip Bayless seem honest and honorable. JJ doesn’t have some secret code to outdebate Stephen A. He’s simply stating pretty well known facts about the history of the game.

@@catharticwicks I stopped watching First Take as soon as Skip left! I don’t like the way Skip handled things with Shannon, but people make mistakes. But what a lot of people don’t know is Skip left ESPN pissed off! All he wanted was Stephen A to show up more live and in person and on time. But Stephen A wanting to be at every big NBA game so he can suck up to all the big name stars, which was smart on his behalf because all those contacts landed him a huge deal while not even living up to his current contract. Which was like I said, to be back in time since the company was flying him private, to be on the set of First Take. Skip was showing up 5-6 in the morning coming up with all the talking points of the show and getting no help from Stephen A. and then they still give him a large contract? It’s actually sad because Stephen A will fully admit he wouldn’t have even got his chance if it wasn’t for Skip getting him his big shot on air. But first chance he got to take Skip down a peg, he jumped all over the Shannon Sharpe situation and got Shannon to go to ESPN because Stephen A knew the show was failing and people were turning on him the more they found out about what he did to Max!

@@edwardnigma4087 All Stephen A needed to say when questioned about Max’s departure was that he wanted to go in a different direction. That their working relationship had become contentious. Something like that. Instead, Stephen A described Max as boring and inexperienced in athletics and journalism. I watched Stephen A and Kendrick Perkins, in particular, treat Max like he was an idiot. I, like many others, respect Stephen A’s hustle. I don’t respect his knowledge of sports, nor his character. As a boy who loved football, basketball and baseball, I’ve listened to sports talks shows for a while. It’s a shame to see the kind of discourse that influences upcoming generations. It’s no exaggeration, kids learn and repeat what they hear, and in turn, show disrespect and bad sportsmanship toward one another. Troll culture is hilarious sometimes, but some of these hosts go out of their way to make unsubstantiated claims about a player’s character.
