He managed to kill J. Geil for killing his sister, Sherry a while back by turning him into a human pincushion. Plus, there was that time he tried to kill Jotaro and company in Singapore, so Polnareff was always able to kill with his Chariot.
I think he’s so skilled as a fighter and laid back enough as a person that he doesn’t feel the need to try a lot of the time. But when he does... well, we just saw what happens.
I really love how Polnareff, the most hot-headed and stubborn of the crusaders, was the one to provoke Ice into his own demise. Polnareff learned that unbridled rage without patience is a death sentence, and he used it against Vanilla Ice. Such a beautiful bookend to his revenge story.
@Pillowcars I really liked how all the tarot cards have the values they would have. The hierophant has traits of uncovering secrets and solving memories. Emperor is supposed to lead the hanged man to death. The fool is actually supposed to be a secret card sort of with its number being 0 and iggy doesn't show till more than half way through star dust crusaders.
Out of all the characters in Stardust Crusaders, Polnareff had the most character development imo. This scene is proof of that. At first, he thought Iggy was nothing but a worthless dog, but then he realised how he truly felt. Then he went to the realization of a fact about himself. Seeing this scene made me realize how much I myself liked Polnareff. Wait... nani
I think Jotaro had the best character development he was a punk in the beginning that really only cared about himself and his mom but after he spent time with the crusaders you can really see he changed but where that character development really shows is when Dio kills Joseph and drinks his blood
What makes me angry is that the other crusaders are always not around when Polnareff fights a dangerous enemy, they always seen Polnareff as a goofy one even at the end Polnareff only gets one shot at dio, whilst kakyouin, Joseph, jotaro played an important part in defeating dio. Wished the Writers would give more credit to polnareff
@@subie1019 i mean If pol didnt get vanilla ice he wouldve creamed jotaro and joseph Plus he did save jotaro by giving him more time to jumpstart his heart
@@subie1019 Agreed, but to be fair he in total bad shape, badly wounded and still able to went as far as almost finish off dio is impressive enough for a secondary character (which i prefer him the most in part 3)
@@noriakikakyoin1423 I don't think Jotaro was ever bad, he risked his life to save Kakyoin after they almost killed each other. Tbh Jotaro's personality is just regular for fatherless teens, agressive on the outside but very caring on the inside, especially with his mother
A bit late but, I didn’t noticed this when I first watched it. Silver chariot was weakened when Polnareff was injured but after Iggy's death chariot was in perfect condition because Polnareff had steeled his mind and resolve, because stands are a manifestation of mental and soul energy, he steeled his resolve to kill vanilla ice after Iggy died saving him.
also the cry during the absolute destruction of vanilla ice didnt come from Polnareff as his mouth didnt move, meaning the battle cry you heard came straight from Polnareff's soul
I realized it when Iggy was about to die to Pet Shop, and it shows a flashback to when he was still a stray in New York. Needless to say, my happiness at his survival didn't last.
Ok but can everyone agree that Pol stabbing Ice through the head and then using the rapier as leverage to snap his neck was one of the most badass moves someone could pull out in a fight?
He's literally one of the very few JJBA characters to represent the concept of survivor's guilt...You'll soon know what I meant in part 5: Vento Aureo.
To be fair, the gang in part 5 knew that they were going to be risking their lives by betraying the boss. Not Giorno, Mista, nor Trish had a reason to feel guilty. All of them knew what they were getting into, and made a deliberate choice to put their lives on the line. Polnareff, however, fully expected to die because Avdol said that he wouldn’t help him. Also, Polnareff was under the impression that Iggy couldn’t save him. He feels survivors guilt because he feels that he was unworthy of survival, which is not the case with Giorno and co.
@@Connor_Kirkpatrick yea your right not many people in jojo felt survivor guilt but i'll name some. Polnareff, Fugo because he knew some of them were gonna die. Speedwagon offscreen I'm saying this cause of when he heard of jonathan's death he felt like he was there for no reason and let everybody he traveled with all die. Narancia (Abbacchio death) Bruno(Abbacchio deaths also) *Spoilers not really but you know i gotta put this just in case* Jolyne, Johnny. If your down here the jojo event is coming soon very pog right
I love how Jean-Pierre moving from a comic-relief to a tragic and touching character, this is the real strength of Araki: to make us love characters considered detestable and to transform people a little "absurd" into a true model of human inspiration. This is also why Jean-Pierre Polnareff is the best character in Stardust Crusaders, in my humble opinion.
As much as I love the beatdown kills... Polnareff killing Ice with just a nudge is somehow the most satisfying way this could have ended. Like he didn’t even deserve the effort of tearing him to shreds first in Polnareff’s eyes.
I feel like the taunting just before it fills the role of the beatdown in a way. Ice is more or less helpless against him, and Polnareff takes the time to taunt him before casually ending him. Very cathartic.
He could used his other catchphrase. Something like this, for example: V Ice: "How do you still have the strength to fight back?! A moment ago, you were fleeing like a coward! Are you really the same Polnareff who ran away? The same Polnareff who couldn't save a measly mutt? The same Polnareff who couldn't even save Avdol?" Polnareff: "Yes!! I AM!!!!" Vanilla Ice then dies.
4:01 The way Silver Chariot just casually turns and nudges Vanilla Ice is the most badass thing I've ever seen. Not just in JJBA, I mean in anything ever.
I will be honest, the remake gave this scene the proper justice it deserved. Iggy was unceremoniously killed off and Polenareff just poked holes in Vanilla Ice until he died. The remake made this scene so much more meaningful as it gave him a full character arc in one episode and nailed it to near perfection. This scene completes his change from bumbling comic relief to a stone cold killer who's outgrown his goofiness when there are stakes on the line. Incredible
2:25 badass how Polnareff predicts Vanilla Ice’s movement and doesn’t even flinch or hesitate to rush him, without even looking facing him. When I first watched this scene I knew that Polnareff had the best character development.
cfG21 WRRYYY is the war cry of vampires in JJBA. Vanilla Ice, or Cool Ice here, turned into vampire without his knowledge. Some says wryy symbolize the way those vampires breath, their lungs has dried up so breathing make them wheeze
They don't do it just to breathe. DIO (and Giorno who isn't a vampire) do it as a trademark scream to emphasize their attacks, though DIO did do it as breathing in part 1 at one point
I think the biggest mistake DIO ever made, besides kicking with his damaged leg, was not informing Vanilla Ice of his new abilities and weaknesses after turning him into a vampire.
And that's why this is one of the greatest fights in part 3. So many little details like Dio not giving Vanilla a margin of the respect Vanilla gave him.
@@hachonimity4524 that's why Dio didn't tell him anything. I mean even Polnareff admits that Dio has good decorative tastes. So if you're going to destroy my house why tell you anything?
Man polnareff finally going serious and just completely annihilated vanilla ice with a broken rapier was both brutal and heartbreaking. Propably the only time ever we will see a serious polnareff unleashing his full potential.
This is the most satisfying and emotional fight in Part 3 imo. The way Polnareff calmly says "Go to Hell" and pushes Vanilla Ice into the sunlight is filled with such regret over his own survival. There was no joy in this victory. No retribution. The emptiness of this victory in Polnareff's heart mirrors the empty void in Cream's mouth.
I guess he had more hatred in his battle with the guy that killed his sister than his battle with the guy that killed two friends that he hadn’t be acquainted with for more than a month
One of the only times I have genuinely felt for a character in a show. Most of the time in a show when an emotional moment happens. I always think "Eh, it's just a show." But this time was different, the voice acting, the music, everything. I was tearing up.
@@Yoloballmuncher22 but uhh... Ummm.... Your name is unconfortable for me... But what can i do? Anyways how does chariot requiem work again? I already watch part 5 but i still confused about it
Polnareff always fights his opponents with a sense of honor. When he shoved Vanilla Ice into the sun, he didn't see him as an opponent, he saw him as a souless killer.
Its kind of scary to think about the fact that it was extremely easy for Polnareff to just simply break his neck, like imagine if he was evil... He could just very simply kill anyone in two short movements.
When he was fighting Avdol, he was fighting honorably, no cheap shots, he even explained his stand beforehand, which is notable because it's something that is just not done in Jojo, aside from Polnareff, NO ONE has explained their Stand beforehand since knowledge of their Stand would be tactically disadvantageous. He was even doing this while under actual mind control from Dio, he wasn't persuaded he had a literal parasite implanted in his skull and he STILL had honor. This is what happens when you piss off an honorable man.
Bloodyidit Depends. Some do explain their stand, like Strely Dan, because it gives him some immunity from attacks. But that wasn't done for honour reasons, I agree.
Just noticed that Polnareff must have been pretty fucking pissed seeing how he had his Stand start cutting through Vanilla Ice's skull with a fucking rapier. He just fucking carved a slit right in Vanilla Ice's skull.
Also think of the fact that his rapier got basically cut by Vanilla Ice's stand so it was a thin piece of metal...and he still managed to stab him as much as he did...he was just that angry
This feeling in the sand... How could this have happened? It's an empty shell. This cold annihilation... The destruction of life Damn it! I'm the one who survived! That's poetic as fuck
2:45 The music that plays during this very moment is so fucking badass. It keeps a melody similar to that of knights and lancers, while giving a feel of pure rage and fury. How the strings rise as SC beats down VI more is the perfect symbol of the anger coming from Polnareff. The fight as a whole was (in my honest opinion,) better than Jotaro Vs DIO. Mainly because of how it's obvious Dios gonna loose, where here, it looks like Vanilla Ice gains the upper hand until Polnareff goes apeshit on him. The melody that symbolizes how pissed Polnareff is is the perfect rendition of Sweet Revenge.
In a fight where Vanilla Ice is stabbed in the spine and brain and has his neck broken, it figures he'd die from being lightly nudged into sunlight. xD
CheesyGranola Jojo vampires are really resilient. Even the zombies underlings they make are more than a match for a normal human if you remember back to phantom blood.
CheesyGranola For all their toughness, JoJo vampires really can't handle sunlight. It fucks them up something fierce, as you've seen. And since ol' Cool Vanilla Ice was such a moron, he was easy to goad into a disadvantageous position...with one leg, all it took to put that bastard out of Avdol's and Iggy's misery was a slight tap.
Nehfarius Well Santana somehow survived standing in direct sunlight with only a codpiece up till his front was exposed to sunlight... Either Pillar Men are actually better at dealing with the sun or JoJo Vampires only die when their faces are hit by sunlight. That's pretty brutal
The Flash Gamer I'd say it's the former. Pillar Men are special in that they can survive being sunned, but it turns them to pillars. It takes Hamon to kill THEM.
I like how the series plays by the rules of vampirism. Ice was pretty much defeated the moment he lost his leg. Unlike esidisi, there was no one nearby to steal limbs from and because he was new to being a vampire, he had no mind to use his body to scamper about until nightfall Polnareff may have lost a foot, but he still had his wits, the benefits of having a soul. It would give him countess ways to leverage the situation and exude pressure, boxing Ice in the same way Johnathan did to Dio
I really love how araki implemented vampires again and made it just a small piece yet continued to acknowledge he fact that dio could make vampires even though they’d be at a disadvantage against the stardust crusaders
This was one of my favorite fights in the series. We see in future parts that most of the main characters die to the main villain, but looking back at the older parts, you see how characters can die without even meeting the main villain.
@@whoareyoutoaccuseme6588 I think Kars is more likely the main villain. He practically manipulated his allies into killing their entire species and kidnapping the newborns like Santana into brainwash them into following him. He was the creator of the Stone Masks and the one who ordered the extermination of the entire Hamon tribes. Kars is basically responsible for everything that happens in the Jojo universe.
The moment where Polnareff impales Vanilla Ice through the head, then uses his broken rapier as leverage to twist his head around and snap his neck is just so fucking brutal I love it
JT101 JJBA is awesome because of its style, the fact that there's a connection between the mangaka and viewer, its awesome and lovable characters, badass villains, and Polnareff
The only thing I dislike about this is Polnareff having memories of Iggy that he didn't actually see (the fight with Pet Shop); it's narrative cheating.
The OVA was more disgusting but this is not only more brutal but more meaningful since Iggy isn't just offed randomly, he died sacrificing himself to save Polnareff.
@@sinemhaticepak4030 yeah I liked him a lot better in Part 4, and while I haven’t read SO I know of some things from there and he works so much better as a supporting character lmao.
@@Max-zg6ld exactly. Jotaro was just a cliche edgy badass anime character and that made me enjoy part 3 less then others. In other parts, as a supporting character however he was written much better and he actually developed emotions instead of just being "hi me big ass 17 yo boy and me here to kick you ass and say a cool one liner"
This whole sequence is incredible, but my favourite part will always be Polnareff, in tears, grabbing Vanilla Ice's neck, stabbing him through the forehead and snapping his neck. It's so brutal for him, considering his honourable knight persona, and it really shows how pissed and sad he was about Iggy
This is just a whole pun his name is Vanilla Ice and his stand is Cream thus Vanilla Ice Cream and then he got defeated by the sun which is hot, hot temperatures melts ice cream holy shit this is just a big pun wtf
