Cannot understand so many negative comments ... but you helped at this ;-) I love this mini quad that I bought and received 3 days ago!!! I have a Hubsan H501s and a Hubsan Zino and this quad has surely one place at my backpack. He is small, quite simple to put it flying, has a gimbal to stabilize, the video quality for a 150€ quad is very good, satellites got quickly and did not feel any toilet bowl. And My smartphone Redmi Note 4, that GSMArena says it does not have 802.11ac, works perfect (at one description of the Snapdragon processor it has I had read that it was 802.11ac capable, so it is confirmed). I recommend it in spite of some bad experiences by you and other guys!
Mine is terrific, it returns within 2 meters of home everytime and I get 14 1/2 minutes of flight time everytime. UPDATE; mine took off... Hovered while looking at me for about 5 seconds then took off into the wild blue yonder, landed on a roof somewhere and then the battery died 10 minutes later... Never to be seen again... I now fly a mavic 2 and couldn't be happier ;)
New pilot here I just wanted you to know, out of all the Drone reviews when ever I want detailed truth I look for you. Great thing you do with your shirt thing 😂
I've lost count of all the vid reviews I watched on this particular drone now and generally speaking it's gotten far better reviews than you've given. It could be you just got a lemon. On the other hand, in some of the other review vids the folks testing this model drone did their calibrations differently than you've done and those other reviews mentioned and showed that they only had 7 or 8 satellites connected. It may also be that since you're fortunate enough to have access to higher quality drones you've developed a sort of subconscious bias favoring drones you've had better luck with. Who knows? Doesn't really matter, this vid offered up some insights that those other reviews didn't so for that, good work sir. Incidentally, in the last "Return To Home" sequence when the drone took off in the wrong direction, it could be that the drone was trying to get back to China. LOL
I was having issues with this drone because I got the impression the phone did the calibration for you without doing anything. I was about to give up on this drone but this just fixed the issue. Thank you
Weird - Captain Drone (canada) recommends this from several starter quadcopters / GPS drones for 2019 entry-level beginners. His flight demo appeared OK! There were problems with early models I read on the internet. The Gimbal seemed too good to be true. Ill stay with my 2 tellos. Oh well. Thx for the review!
HI I just recently like in 2 hours ago received my x9 heron and took it for its first flight it took about 5 minutes to lock onto 15 satellites and it flies just absolutely awesome the camera footage not so great but ok compared to my phantom 3 standard not to bad but doable it's a nice little drone and a handy platform to have when you wanna just do some flying and take some video footage . thanks for your reviews they do help Brad all the way from South Africa saying whats uuuup !
So, basically it’s a cheap imitation of a dji spark but with a few problems. Now I’m definitely glad I bought my spark, a great quad that actually works fantastically, and doesn’t have any problems. The worst return to home I’ve had was probably about a metre, and that was with some metal in the ground and near me which upset the compass. Glad you told it like it is.
I lost site of it about 200 yards away, had no idea where it was, in between thick taller trees, my bad, but finally saw it and it headed away back to China, I started walking to where I thought it was and about a minute later it came flying back past me apparently doing a lost signal/return home, but it bypassed home, going pretty high and fast, I was able to recapture control and land it. Wow!
You know its doing that because of the propwash right, take it up higher so the sensors can get a better field of view and not so much propwash and i promise alot of that movement will go away!!
I just bought one of these, but I probably wouldn't have if I'd seen your review first. On a positive note, I did not experience the problems you had with the toilet bowling, fly away or wandering. Also the battery seemed to have lasted longer although I didn't see exactly how long it went. I wonder if there have been firmware upgrades since you got yours? I've only flown it twice and prior to this I had never flown a quadcopter at all. I had 12 satellites locked on though, and I calibrated it differently than you did (held the quadcopter stationary and rotated it in place instead of rotating it around me. I have no idea if that makes any difference - I'm just learning about these fun little things. Anyway, I wanted you to know that I really appreciate the detail you went into with the controls on both the controller and the app. I had looked at several other reviews on this machine and everyone just skips over that part, which is frustrating to a newby like me. I'm also glad to see that the app has more detailed instructions than what was provided in print - just one more thing I learned from your video. Good job!
Jimmy Zelski hello can you please tell me how long does it take fully charge a battery it’s been charging for 3 hours and nothing just keeps blinking green. Is that the way your charges too
@@mrcady915 I'm sorry I didn't see your question earlier. Mine charges in about 2 or 3 hours and when it's fully charged the blinking stops and a very bright solid light appears (green, I think). I noticed that some of these come with their own chargers but others just come with a USB cable to plug into a phone charger or computer, for example. Mine just came with the cable, so I plug it into my 3 amp phone charger. If you have a weaker charger (like a 1 amp) it will definitely take longer to charge. Let it go overnight and see if you get the solid light by morning. If not, there's probably something wrong with your battery or charger.
It always amazes me how someone starts a youtube channel and all of a sudden people start asking for random shit! You could do an oil change video and someone in Mumbai is going to ask you which processor they should use for their new gaming build.
nice review, great details! q: the footage from the drone looked like it was dropping frames/stuttering, is it like that in the original footage? strange framerate or low bitrate? thx!
Yes I agree, one to avoid. Was looking forward to seeing how these do before I placed an order for one. Glad I did though. Thanks for the awesome review Sir! Cheers. PS. Happy New Year! :)
Such melodic ESC tones! When a company can’t even be bothered with simple things like that, it makes me wonder what else they’ve not taken any care. For the price, (£136) it’s a lot of cash to see fly off into the distance. Releasing a drone like will shelve a company’s reputation, people need a drone they can rely on. Edit: I’ve just read the reviews in the provided link, are they really reviewing the same drone? 🤔😂
I saw a French review with much better results. I guess it's a lottery drone, you have to see what you get. At least it's cheap, only €150. He used the C-Fly app. Edit: Mine arrived and I face the same battery problem you had. :(
Thanks for the review. Interested in this drone. I am confused on the specs: they show a 5g wifi for video/pics. I think that means the controller has 5g to transmit to your phone???? Do most if not all smart phones connect to this????? I have a Galaxy Grand Prime-3-4 years old. Anybody know????
Forget the term 5G as it is often confused with unrelated 5G phone data network. Specifically this drone requires a phone with 802.11ac WiFi capability to connect to it. Unfortunately your Galaxy Grand Prime only has 802.11b/g/n WiFi. Your phone does not have 802.11ac WiFi capability, and will not work with this drone.
Thank you for your review of the X9. And I also checked out the c fly dream. I always enjoy your reviews and respect your opinions. But I think in this case anyone looking at this drone or the dream would be better off with the DJI spark in my opinion.
I respect your diligence in reviewing these and I know it's for the income. However, as a guy who's owned several dozen drones and have also built a few, save your money folks for a Spark. You get what you pay for. Can't purchase a Lamborghini for chump change.
You are probably right. But if it wasn't for cheap drones there wouldn't be a Spark. DJI would just say Hey, buy the $5000 Mavic Super Fantastic if you want a drone. It's all we got.
Cahyo Prabowo You might be right.., but Tello was created and built by Ryze Robotics, not DJI... it is powered by dji and Intel technology but it’s still Ryze. It’s a fun little drone though!
This drone is for beginners who also want some sort of quality. Meaning the 2 axis gimble and 1080p and GPS gestures and it's under 200. No beginner is gonna go for a 450 dollar drone right off the bat. Also if a beginner wants to fly in a big park or field and practice that spark isn't gonna let them fly most places cause of the annoying no fly zone. Lastly not every one has 450 to spend all at once cause they have a budget or are less fortunate, so 169 and looking like a spark opens up a lot of doors for potential buyers. The dji drones are not recommended for everyone. Tons of people like me live in places where dji doesn't let you fly anywhere so you basically wasted your money. That's why I went with Evo, and anafi and other quality drones that don't restrict me so harshly.
Lol every time I see a drone, or one of my own drones, fly away like that uncontrollably, my heart sinks and I get scared and sad at the same time and I hope for the worst, but at least you found it, my own drone flew away half a mile away from my house and managed to stop itself on the side of the road, luckily my neighbors went out to find it and saved it from being hit by a semi truck
HI Yes not sure whats up with that drone but 2 other reviews i just watched had a much better result.s and i like its capability's so I'm wonder if it that environment , transmitters or the drone itself .I;m looking to buy a drone for my fishing trips so its got to be spot on as can not just land it anywhere being out at sea . I do like your reviews keep up the good work and i'm sure you'er having fun doing this
Not that I am interested but on trying to check the price, the Gearbest website announced that these were sold out and kicked me off that page. p.s. pleased to see a negative review as being 100% enthusiastic becomes a little stale after a while.
@Eon Ziggy - not interested in buying this POS but was just wondering what it cost. My main reason for the post was to say that I was pleased that reviewer told us like it is (rubbish) rather than just praise it for the affiliate rewards.
Good review Q101, even if not a great drone ... Like the Dream, a great pity it's 5G wfi .... AGAIN .... as it makes it a big 'No - No' for most of us here in the UK. They'd be better offering a 5.8Ghz fpv system if they want to sell it here :( That GPS system defo isn't the greatest either. Wishing you a Happy New Year to you and yours mate :)
I don't keep them (don't have the storage space), nor do I sell them or do giveaways (don't have the time or want the hassle of packaging and mailing). After their reviews are completed, they are piled in the back of my van and donated monthly en masse to local schools and charities (Toys for Tots and local schools Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) clubs).
i dont know what JJRC is up to with these drones that it seems to me their X9 Heron version is quite discrediting to the original Cfly Dream given that the Cfly Dream has no issues of their own original version...i just hope it's not the same case with their X12 version compare to the Eachine EX4 or Cfly Faith which are good quality drones in terms of its performance and nice video quality...
That GPS system doesn't seem the best, especially taking 10-15 minutes the first time calibrating with the U.S. GPS satellites. Thanks for the review though! It is really good to see these reviews before making a purchase.
After seeing this video, I would like make a few comments here. I did see that you did compass calibration but didn't do gyro calibration. The first GPS flight, GPS lock took just less than 2 minutes (7, 10, 11, 12) after the full calibration. My unit hold position solid. I notice mine has a slight horizontal tilt to the left. Please see my video. Mine is quite different from the unit you received. Now, I wonder why the same product but different performance??? Components used inside the drone???
@Eon Ziggy I tried to make another test today but I forgot to take my phone with me. I was on site and no phone and no test. This test shall tell us what this drone is made of, BAD or GOOD....
Goodnight friend! What model of your smartphone? Does this drone only work with a smartphone that has 5G technology? I ask this question because I live in Brazil and here we do not have many options of 5G smartphones yet.
Your proto type or the one you get ordered before you made video not looking good can do firmware upgrade etc with this bird your area could be bad for interance to have fair chance try going somewhere else please ordered mine hoping its a good one you got bad faulty unit
What do I do in a case where by I bought this drone and I don't have 5G Wi-Fi? How can you advice me, since our country, South Africa does not support 5G Wi-Fi? How can I use it with my ordinary android smart phone
I think that you are confusing 5G phone data networks with 5G WiFi, which are two entirely different things. This drone uses 802.11ac WiFi on 5Ghz frequency (sometimes referred to as 5G WiFi). Unfortunately not every phone has 802.11ac WiFi. If your phone does not have 802.11ac WiFi, then you will not be able to use the app with the drone. The only way to do such is to either borrow or purchase a phone with 802.11ac WiFi. That's why I stress in the video (and in the video description) that it's very important to first verify that your phone has 802.11ac WiFi before purchasing this drone.
Hi CD, I have a quick question for you. The Enjoy-Fly app never loads maps so I'm wondering if I can safely use the C-Fly app. It seems to work with the x9's controller and I tried arming the motors and it's works fine and it loads maps too... I haven't tried to fly it yet until I get an opinion from an expert, (you;) maybe you could do a quick video to test it out for me? If your Heron crashes and burns you still have the "P" version that you said is the same except for the camera... Anyway please let me know if you can test it, or if you know... Either way, thanks in advance.
None of this is my experience. I calibrate on the drone axis, not around my body, and it is always extremely stable. I regularly get 12-16 satellites, always rapidly. The track and orbit both work with the controller....I use them all the time and have never flown with the app, just the controller. Return to home results are within a couple of meters, both from the controller, and a few times automatically when it hit low power. I can use both C-Fly and Enjoy-Fly interchangeably, although I use them on an iPad, because I could not get them to work on my old Samsung S4, even though they are supposed to. I ordered with 3 batteries, and I get around 15 min flight time with all 3. I think you got a lemon...
All the 5g wifi quadcopters, have the Chinese manufacturers got the 5g working properly as it transmitting and receiving signals? The jjrc x9 is one which is having problems communication to app on smartphones,i use the c-fly dream app on my smartphone , other users say it doesn't work.is it the smartphone at fault,i have a xiaomi note 3.
I have this one on order. I don't see any information listed on the JJR/C web site. I'd like to get a head start. Can you help me find a copy of the instruction manual and direct me to the Android App? Thank you.
Download Enjoy-Fly App from the Play Store. Top right hand corner click on View Instructions. Download ur quick start guide and manual. Don't lose ur drone like me. Keep it on Position Mode for use with GPS.
Hello quadcopter 101, I'm having trouble finding/connecting to the controller e01003. I can connect directly to the drone-e01003 but this doesn't help much. Can you recommend any help? The instructions are garbage. I tried to follow instruction 10)Pair aircraft with RC but the controller doen't even go into pairing mode (hold power + photo/video button). Anything will help. I'm so frustrated with this thing!
Turn on the controller. Open your phone's WiFi settings. Look for the controller's WiFi signal, and connect to it the same way that you would connect to your home WiFi.
Also note that this drone requires a phone that is capable of receiving 802.11ac WiFi. If you can't find the controller's WiFi signal, then your phone may not be capable of 802.11ac WiFi.
I got one coming for review. My viewers have been repeatedly stating that JJRC has corrected the issues with this drone since its review in January. Hopefully the X9P Pro version will redeem itself.
I don't know, I hate that DJI has been leading the market and the more cheaper you go the more cheap it is but not to work or if it does it doesn't last. And jjrc I can't trust the products. Thanks for the information.
Maybe JJRC X5 Epic? They all seem to love it. I myself have a Z5, cheaper brother of F11. Camera not great. Follow me also bit disappointing. Flies good though. But maybe I should have gotten a X5 as 'follow me' is important to me. Or more expensive drone. Definitely not HERON. I have seen too many problems unfortunately.
I need a manual for this drone The quick start guide. Can someone or the video creater send me a pdf or some other link. I can't get the drone to start. It pairs up but won't start. jjrc x9
I'm far from the expert on GPS drones but doesn't that thick cloud cover play a roll with satellites? Out of 10 or so reviews on this particular drone yours is the first one I've seen that had a lot of negative things to say. All the others had nothing but good things to say. This drone will be arriving at my home in about a week, so I can only hope the reasons I bought remain true. Thanks anyways for your review.
I was one of the first to receive this drone. It had bugs when it was first released. I believe these bugs have been corrected In the newer production runs. However, there is still a possibility that some vendors may still have these older versions in their stock (AliExpress vendors cough cough).
"Requires 802.11ac WiFi capable phone to utilize the app with the drone...." Can you tell me where is the documentation that says that? I ordered a X9 and my phone apparently is not 802.11ac but I have contradictory information about this prerequisite. thks
@@Quadcopter101 , after thank you, I went to my Zino description at Banggood and they say the same "5G WIFI". I have 2 smartphones:one old, Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime and a less old one Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. At gsmarena, they says that both don't have 802.11ac!!! It happens that I can successfully connect to the Zino wifi, so my doubts about the "5G WiFi" at description of the products. If it will be the case of the jjrc X9, I will tell you to correct this con that move away potential buyers like me. Thks
@@luisreis3202 Hubsan Zino is an entirely different drone than the JJRC X9. The Zino can use older phones without 5G as it can connect to those phones using its provided On The Go (OTG) cables. Unfortunately the JJRC X9 does not have this capability.
I wish I had seen this before I bought the jjrc x9. Mine flies away in GPS mode or altitude mode. It is so bad I can not fly it.If I had a desert like you perhaps I would try. Any where near houses or people is impossible. There is a 12acre abandoned parking lot near me and even there I lost all control and only by turning off the transmitter did it land before going into the forest and swamp. Again I wish I had seem this review before I threw my money away on this.
