Just picked up a pair of JK Forefronts and thought I'd give my initial impressions of the boot. Being that there aren't too many videos on this model, I hope you'll find it helpful.
I like your insights into these boots. I look forward to seeing future videos. I'm on my first pair of JKs and I really like them so far, even more than my almost dozen pairs of Danners I've had through the decades. Danners seem to be taking a bit of a dump in quality and customer service as they pursue a more fashion oriented business model. I also love that Texans are embracing PNW boots!
I also have 8 inch forefronts. Every time I put them on I appreciate them. The wedge sole does wear faster then thorogoods but that is common knowledge that the vibram wedge sole wears very fast. You can’t even co pare the rest of the boot to jk. I’m also pretty sure thorogoods are only bottomed in America and the rest of the boot is made overseas. With jk you get a true hand made in USA work of art. I rotate my forefronts with a pair of whites Perry’s eod to keep them both around longer. Thinking of ordering some bison ot if they have Black Friday sale again.
I've been eyeing some whites, Perry's myself. Just started a new job, and they give us $150 for boots in February. So I'm torn between the Perry Selects and redwing 10877s. Between my thorogoods JK OTs and Forefronts, I'm all set for safety toe boots.
So I have 8inch black Perry’s and 6 inch British tan double shot selects. The selects are awesome boots worth the extra money over regular Perry’s. Nothing is wrong with the regular Perry’s by any means.I never had any redwing moc toes so I cant speak to them but unless they were free I wouldn’t take them over the selects. The leather laces they include set them off very nicely as well. They aren’t as refined as say my viberg service boots but they are damn nice.
I was originally thinking of getting the 300s as well but ended up going with the Forefront because the 300 can't be rebuilt and only comes in a 6 in height. 8in is super important for me since I work with a lot of chemicals and solvents and don't want to risk getting any chemical burns on my lower leg.
Depends on your personal needs tbh. I was spending around 250 a year on boots, so 500 for a pair that will last over twice as long and can be rebuilt made a lot of sense. Thorogoods and redwings are still awesome, just not as good, and if you get multiple years outta them, you may not benefit from upgrading.
Thank you. They aren't the custom Forefronts, just the standard configuration 8in in the redwood color. The estimated lead time was 6 weeks, and that was right on the money. But I think they recently updated their lead times to around 10 weeks.
Nice video, having owned both boots, Thorogood, and JK Forefront, the Thorogood soles last a lot longer. I wish JK would get longer lasting soles on this boot. Good video.
Best boots I've ever had. Even better than the forefronts. The honey sole is softer, lighter, and more flexible, while the higher heel balances the arch much better for an overall more comfortable fit.
@@justragequit7078 I thought the same thing, best boots I’ve owned thus far. Very comfortable. I’m on concrete and driving truck. They’re great for what I do.
