I can confirm that this sound test is pretty accurate. The one downside to these speakers in particular is the lack of midbass. These speakers were designed with sound quality in mind and sound excellent when paired with a sub. If you don't have a sub, equalization is essential. With proper EQ (assuming you have them properly powered by the right amplification) these will sound phenomenal. Also make sure you add good sound deadening material in the door like Hushmat or Dynamat to remove the "tin" like sound to provide these speakers with an acoustically sound environment. Simply adding this material does have a noticeable increase in midbass. Sure, they won't reach the fidelity and levels of midbass as the C3 or C5, but they can still perform extremely well at the price they are at. Well done JL!
I owned a set of these for a few years. Crystal clear vocals but need a good amp to power them and make sure the gains on the amps are set properly along with the proper Crossover settings. I found them to like 110hz and up. You can put the power to them and they will take it.
Great review, I enquired about these at a local audio dealer . I have a 2021 Silverado with a 5 channel 1200 watt amp and 1 10 inch sub . I am currently running my factory speakers but they are starting to sound bad after 3 years of jamming tunes . I listen to a wide variety of music from old school hip hop to rock n roll . I feel these will provide the sound I’m looking for. Cheers 🇨🇦
Pretty darn professional review . I’m impressed at the quality of the review and your feedback on installation tips. Thank you ! You’ve earned my Subscribe, sir.
I have jl audio tweeters jl audio c2-650 speakers on all four doors on my silverado with the c2/650xo also connected to a jl audio 400x4 4channel rd series amp. They sure sound great specially also having subwoofers.
Hey man i got the 400x4 amp about to put into new car and buy these speakers, are they good at loud volumes and have they ever distorted and have they still lasted without popping
These are very capable speakers if you have a dsp and can really dial in your system and do chanel specific EQ adjustments etc. Off an oem or even aftermarket deck, the EQ just doesn't offer enough to really bring them to their full potential.
Put a set of these in the front of my 2002 525i today. Went from factory speakers with separate tweeters to these. Real nice sound for the money. Just got to tackle the rear parcel shelf with another set perhaps. May end up putting these in the back and buying the more expensive version with the separate tweeters for the front. Good video by the way.
I have 2 c5 tweeters in the dash c5 650 in components in the front doors and the c2 650s in the rears on a 6 channel jl amp running all that and 2 tw3 10 in subs in a stealth box on a jl 1000 watt amp this system is just freaking awesome haven't heard better yet I'm suprized that the c2 sound really close to the c5 for half the money
I recently added jl tweak eg and a oem intergration for like 600 more its pretty sweet kinda over kill but you hear so much more from any kind of music
How's the tweeter on the C2 coaxials? I have some Infinity Reference X, but the tweeter is a bit bright for my taste and the midbass is a little thin. Was looking at the C2's the other day. They look pretty similar except the JL tweeter is a little smaller, and the magnet assembly sticks out a bit more.
The tweeters on the C2 coaxials is not strong ( I had too boost it +5db) The mid's are a bit harsh for me, but fine for the money. The c3 is more balanced.
You all do realize that you're complaining about JL audio entry level speakers. These are C2 it goes up to C7, I have some and I gotta tell you they are undefeated.
Question? I have these 5.25" in my 2016 F250 front door. Powered byJL RD400/4. After 15-20 mins of loud play the tweeter cuts out. Mids keep going. Then turn the volume down after a few mins and screaming back to normal. Shop can't seem to find the problem. Are these defected? Is this an anti-blow feature? When i first bought them, they were heaven. What's the deal?
I almost bought these but went w JBL Gt instead. As they were the outgoing model go them on a deal. You dont hear too much W JL coaxials. Even if you buy a $30 pair of aftermarket speakers they are going to sound better than the factory paper speakers. In some case even better than the supposedly upgraded prem system.
Upgraded sound packages are huge profits. You are getting slightly better than stock speakers but still cheap. Or sometimes they just give your more cheap speakers and a little BS Amp..My sister just bought a car a few months ago and the upgraded Bose system doesnt sound all that great.. Lately theyve been getting away from these prem sound and been bundling them together w sunroofs, etc and almost forcing you take it. By the way i just got a different car two weeks ago, A used 2007. The base system is junk. I will have to eventually upgrade it..I might just replace they stock speakers, buy one of them little mini amps and call it a day..
Hey I’m here in 2020. Wanna get these for my Jeep. They are 200$ for the pair. Does anyone have other speaker suggestions instead of these? Looking for under 200$
@@SIXvw I ended up getting the JL Audio 200 series. 600 for my rears and 525 for the fronts. I like them but they need to be pushed with an amp to really get clear
Tweeters on these are mediocre. I will be replacing my front door c2's with Infinity Reference 6532IX. I have the infinity ref's in my back doors and they sound better across the board at high volume. Highs are more important to me than lows. My subs can handle anything below 100hz. The fact that tweeter is the weakest link saddens me.
fuck these speakers and all other replacement bullshit. unless your speakers are blown dont mess with em! none will sound as good as your stocks guaranteed! i hooked two of these to a alpine 4 channel digital amp and i regretted taking out my stocks. i will remove these non bass having ear piercing highs ass speakers from my ride!! hopefully my stocks will forgive me for taking them out!
