Presentation highlighting key moments during the 2024 Jnana Satra celebrated on Feb 10 and 11 2024 @ San Diego, CA by the San Diego Satsangha.
'Jnana Satra' is a symposium that brings the seekers of philosophical knowledge of 'TattvaVada' propagated by Sri Madhwacharya through a variety of activities that include presentations, seminar discussions, thinktank sessions and so on. The motto of the symposium is to 'learn with practice', and therefore every activity reflects a form of learning of the Shastraic way of life and learning.
Jnana Satra 2024 was structured with the theme of 'traividya' (त्रैविद्या) - explained as the confluence of three streams of learning:
1. Sri Hari - His Rupa, GuNa and Mahatmya
2. Guru parampara - learnings from the ardent followers of Vaishnava Siddhanta
3. Siddhanta vimarshe - Deeper insights into the philosophy of TattvaVada.
Jnana Satra 2024 became a reality due to the blessings of all our Gurus and elders, and with the strong commitment and support of volunteers from the Satsangha.
Here is a tribute to all the contributors:
• Sri Sri Vidyashreesha teertha Swamiji for taking time to deliver a keynote speech on 'Moksha Vimarshe'. He even deviated his scheduled travel plan to pause in Salem, Tamilnadu to deliver this Sandesha over Zoom!
• JV Acharyaru for being the primary driver of the event and for his extremely elaborate, ornate and inspiring Devapooja. His message of anusandhana and karmanushThana were thoroughly demonstrated in every activity he took part in, inspiring everyone.
• Our abhyagataru from outside - Girija mAmi, Amit, Vasu, Prabhu, Divyashree for assuming responsibility for many of the key tasks in Devapooja.
• Dilip G for his relentless persuasion in materializing the event in the face of multiple challenges that nearly cancelled the event. It is Hari chitta that prevailed in the end.
• Alakananda & Mohan, Asha & Krishna families as event hosts - sArthaka shrama from both families. And Rajeev J and Krishna Kumar for hosting guests from out of town. It takes extraordinary commitment and patience to host guests and events of this scale in homes, and both pulled it off without a single concern.
• Srividya, Parashuram, Girija mAmi, Asha, Alaka, Deepa, Aparna, Chandrika, Gayatri, Sheela, Nayana, Neha, Vibha, Jyoti (and others who may have been missed) for playing active role in preparing, prasada, chewda, coffee/tea, phalahAra. Cooking is a serious commitment and can influence the success of the event. Of course, it too worked out perfectly with Hari chitta.
• Rajeev, Nayana for complete procurement of groceries and vegetables for both days.
• Nikhil, Rajeev K, Parashuram, Mahidhar, Keshav, Rama B for handling guest transportation to and from airport.
• Nikhil, Rama, Parashuram, Dilip for Photo/Video support
• Srividya for Ghruta Seve - Preparing 7-8 bottles of tuppa on Ekadashi day with upavAsa!
• Vishwas for bringing the dream of performing Alankara Brahmana samaradhane, a challenging task to accomplish in the US. And also for getting the 'pitambara uniform' for all men! His father provided logistics and shipping support from India.
• Serving team for perfect execution on food serving.
• Mahidhar and Prahlad for arranging and sponsoring “Rama Parivara” gift to all participating families plus muttugada ele, other gift items.
• Parashuram, Rajeev J, Dilip, Vishwas, Deepa and others for Hoovu, baLe ele, Tulasi seva.
• Amit, Anagha, Asha, Dilip, JV Acharya, Krishna Kumar and Vasu for their effort in preparing presentations, the core of the Jnana Satra.
• Aparna for conducting evening Seva from kids of all ages who sung the various shlokas and songs they had learnt enthusiastically. Big applause to Akhil, Ishaanvi, Ishank, Medha, Pratha, Samay, Shriya, Shruta, Siri, Varenya & Varistha for being so sportive!
• Divyashree and Dilip for running the Dasanagu Visheshanagu Rasaprashne and thoroughly engaging the audience.
• Divyashree for enabling us to do Hari Smarane thru’ Hari dAsa sankeertane. Plus creating this summary video!
• Srividya for arranging cleaning help for both days, and all other volunteers who pitched in.
AUDIO BGM: "Narayanana Nene Manave" - Sri Vadiraja Teertha virachita kriti rendered by Sri Venugopal Khatavkar.
In the end, it is about enriching our jnAna on Sri Hari and all the kriya/karma we did will earn
phala in this parvakAla of Sri Madhwa Navami. Our samarpane to Sri Hari as HE is the one who
sits in us and does everything. Events like this will grow our bank balance of punya in a “Program” that spans across multiple janmas.
