E ght nicht umirgendinLink sondern um Joaen Baez und ihre Botschaft,Habt ihr das nicht bgriffen ?Dann schaut weiter Puppenkiste aber kritisiert bitte nicht.
Many thanks for this and the accompanying information and lyric. I came to Joan Baez in the early 1960s. In my eyes the stature of Joan Baez increases through the years. Her humanity and dignity continue to shine through.
See above re my comment about Royal Marines take on this song by Mark. The Marines are top class musicians and it is something quite special to listen to. Just listened to Joan, beautiful voice. Thanks to Mark as well who wrote the song and of course his guitar playing is world class, no doubt about that, All in all everyone has done the public proud.
I'm 82 and first attended her concert in Boston.in 1967 while a student at St. Francis in Biddeford, Me. her music has been part of my life ever since.
I’ve known the original Brothers in Arms, it seems like forever. It has always spoken to me, but hearing Joan sing it for the first time has me near to tears.
Agree. This is a soldiers song to the core. No righteous person wants to kill another human, no matter how much we have been to taught to hate. I call a Brothers in Arms any soldier that became a soldier with honorable intention. We have been all lied to badly at times and too often, our 'enemy' was doing nothing more than what we would have done in our own country, protecting our family and country. Dune , U.S. Army 67-70.
Joan has such an hauntingly beautiful voice … I’m 70 years old this year and it seems that I’ve been in love with Joan forever …. I’ve been lucky enough to see her in concert a couple of times over the years and her incredible persona and voice has kept me captivated … in my heart she’s Forever Young ❤️
I'm a couple of years along from you....... Later on in life, I realized Joan far too liberal for me. But the beauty of her singing transcends that. She is an incredible talent, and incredible voice, an incredible person. I've been listening to her shamelessly and ecstatically for over 50 years now.......and am blessed for it.
A Vietnam Veteran friend of mine summed her up perfectly when he said, 'I never agreed with her politics but you could not fault her sincerity and commitment.' I bought her albums in the 1960s and saw her in concert three times - 2012, 2014 and May 2018. 2012 was a week after my Mother died, 2014 was the just before the last time I saw my younger Brother alive. This was posted on my 67th birthday and it prompted me to attend the 2018 concert.
The guitar riffs and solos are such a big part of the original. But Joan mostly does this all with just her voice. Such a powerful song and performance! 😢
Joan is about a year older than my mother. I grew up listening to mom harmonize with Joan Baez albums. I got to shake her hand once almost 40 years ago as she was arriving at a concert venue in East Lansing, Michigan.
Same here, as a boy of 11...hearing her sing "Joe Hill" on the Woodstock album my older brother brought home from college, loved her then, and do now! 👍✊✌✌
I have always heard the version by Dire Straits - I heard it when I came home from the Falklands War - a shit show I was 20 with the 4-2. I had buried those days my "baptism of fire" my first war... and now today 6/10/2023 I came here... and my world is crumbling apart again - God why do you remind me of this and the other wars and battles that I can not tell.
Just read this & I really hope you're doing okay now. I'm about six years younger than you & experienced the shit show from this side of the world. My father (also 4-2, 40 & all else from late 1950's till 1983/4) He wanted to be there beside you all at the time but ended up being one of the senior NCO's who visited family back in the UK. He's very old & frail now but he'd still be the kind of man to listen to you, he'd hate to think that you were feeling this way.
Mounts Kent & Harriet? In the UK we don’t say, “Thank you for your service”, but we should do. Thank you. Respect. This track always gets to me, whether it is being performed by MK or JB. It is incredibly atmospheric and evocative. Written by a genius in remembrance of heroes…
@@alanabrahams2232 x Yes thats's thasts she is her !!! One of the greatest and tru Voices in the musik histori !!! And i love her since 1973 !!! Remember the the Soundtrack Form the movie Dark Star !!!

Thank You to Joan Baez & All Of Her Friends That KNOWS THE Gruesom REALITY OF WAR, that Brings Nothing BUT GENOCIDE TO ALL KINDS OF LIFE And PROTECTS Hatred, Diversety, And WARPROFIT TO SOMEONEELSE, BUT NOT ME. It’s all about awareness. Lack of awareness in all its different forms (including killing our brothers in arms) is currently the greatest threat to our species. IMO, aware people must outbreed the unaware or we’ll surely drown.
I was a 22 year old country guy, when I bought "Come from the shadows Album". I was smitten by this intensely pure voice and silken lyrics. Joan, I heard had never had voice lessons. If she is mediocre, then nearly all other singers before and since are basically hopeless! I had a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat just now, listening to my Favourite track and Joans explanation of the origins of this incredible real life poem sung so poignantly. Masterclass.
Such a beautiful voice. Listening to this on the 48th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon. Very special to me having served in Vietnam '69/71 in a Diplomatic appointment. Bless all those lives lost.
We are with you Sons and Daughters of Ukraine. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. You will survive, victory will be yours. God bless you, stay strong. Your Brothers and Sisters in arms. God
At this difficult time we must remember our " Brothers in Arms " fighting in the Ukraine. From the bottom of our hearts we pray that wont be long before they " return to their valleys and their farms ". God speed you in your just cause.
She has a voice that can go on forever! Have been a fan since the 60's. Will be a fan forever. Love you!!!! Joan is one of the greatest. She really cares about those that have been left out.
My dad was a lover of this great lady, and introduced me to her music, along with other greats. Dad sadly died in 2019 , but is alive in the music he listened to then and as I listen to the same songs now. Miss that man x
I've said had she had different agents and different songs.... This song proves she should sing soft rock. The song All Time High by John Barry is perfect for her. I hope she will go back to singing - her lower voice is beautiful ❤️❤️❤️. The world loves you Joan Baez!!!!
Joan Baez was during the Yugoslavian war solo in Sarajevo, and sang only with her guitare. Great and thank you Joan Baez, for your protest since 1965 until today.
She does t every time. She sings the first note & I just react. I saw her live at The Albert Hall in the 60s & it was like pouring ice cubes down my spine. Same thing now. What a Voice,
Both mark and joan have a mystic quality. mark k, his guitar, his brooding voice. are from another planet, another time. and then there's joan, who puts you in a trance😎. her sounds of bitter sweet, and mystery. camelot, guenevere, don quixote, and dylan, all woven in one. it's amazing what dylan had to say about her, in more recent days. she gave him diamonds and rust. and he, has always adored her. o my, what streams of feelings that come up.. as we touch these great beings of magic😎.
I've never heard Joan Baez sing like this! I love it. Her voice is so beautiful, I wish she hadn't spent so many yrs singing Dylan songs. She could sing more memorable songs with her unforgettable voice! Dylan was a good song writer but Joan Baez had the unsurpassable voice to make anyone famous!!!! She deserved the best!!
My wife and I traveled to Wales from Sicily to see Joan's farewell concert tour a year or so ago. We have loved her from when we first heard her in 1962, and we will always remember our thrill of our first listen. It has never subsided! We go back to our favorites often to love her all over again. Thanks for the songs, Joan.
I actually imagined how it would be if the 2 greats met up. Initially, I wanted to slate it. She uses her incredible voice to mimic Knopfler's guitar and vocals. Brilliant.
Had the privilege of seeing Joan on one of her rare visits to the UK - The Apollo Ardwick, suburb of Manchester. Just Joan, a guitar, and an audience in the palm of her hand. And that glorious voice. She finished her first half with an a'capella version of Swing Low Sweet Chariot - she'd actually finished the song and left the stage before a stunned audience could react ... thunderous applause followed. Joan has been my inspiration since my teenage years - she was there in my darkest hours, and my sunlit days ... i owe you Joan xxx
i first saw her live in Cambridge a week after my mother died - it was perfect. I've since seen here perform at the Royal Albert Hall and the South Bank Centre, the latter was just before the last time I saw my younger brother alive. For someone who grew up in the 60s with her music it's magic moments that will never go away.
Never thought I'd like any cover of this masterpiece of surrealistically lyrical truths...but I should not be surprised that Joan Baez could do this musical tale such justice.
Wow Joan .... so long into your career and still such passion for it and reaching new peaks to your powers. Hats off. Ever onwards and upwards I salute you
happy you like it, but I disagree. I mean, of course her voice is absolutely wonderful and from heaven but this song is huge and powerful enough, it's self- sufficient!! isn't it????
Sebas, let's hear you sing this. I believe a beautiful voice brings more life to all great songs. Words alone, can't express feelings like Joan Baez gives to this song.
