She brought this outrageous pantomime camp to Dynasty. Her Hollywood experience and British notion of theatre made her perfect for Alexis. Without Joan as Alexis Dynasty would have been pitifully without any dynamism. Having read a few of her confessional books, I'm a great fan, she is very transparent, honest and a true survivor and lover of life.
Dame Joan Collins has a huge gay male following, gay men simply adore her and she is known to have many gay friends, partly because Alexis in Dynasty had a gay son Steven and Alexis accepted her son being gay far more than Blake did - Alexis’ fashion sense has been an inspiration to many drag queens the world - I’m surprised that Dame Joan has not yet been a guest judge on Ru Paul’s Drag Race and/or many other gay talk shows
You know? There's just some people that are a huge cut above the rest of us. We are dull and dry next to their blazing miracle of a star. Their beauty and talent, the way they move and carry themselves. It's so wonderful to watch!
Amateur here. I was looking for Collins and spent hours going down the Joan CRAWFOD rabbit hole. Glad I regrounded myself lol. Collins is fantastic, and far from the prudish Crawford. Happy to be here, and ready for more of Collins. Good video!
My good friend, the late Lou Lucke, drove Joan Collins around Montana when she was a Lucky Strike girl. He, of course, sold Lucky Strikes back then. Years later, when we met, we got to talking one day about the shows I loved to watch. I told him my favorite show in the 80s was Dynasty and that Alexis was my favorite. He thought that was neat. He said she was very petite, and very, very polite. He really liked her.
What a family!! Producing two of the most talented and desirable creatures to grace our planet. Resilient, intelligent, human beings who truly loved their children and are or did leave an interesting and wonderful legacy.
@@chriswilliamson83 sometimes when people are being intimidated they laugh out of nervousness or as a defense mechanism, and the one doing the intimidation is just enjoying it, but her fight wasn't against the lawyer so i'm sure they weren't enemies in the end.
I will always like and love Joan Alexis Collins she always speaks her mind and thanks to dress very stylish just like I do she's got style she's got flare and that's why they call her Alex🙋🏻♀️
And at her age I have never seen an actress that looks so gorgeous & if they would have cast Joan in the pint of Cleopatra she would have done much better than Elizabeth Taylor. ✍️
Joan and Alexis is proof that Certain actors and one character they portrayed are a match made in heaven. Larry Hagman will always be JR Ewing, Lucille Ball will always be Lucy Ricardo, Desi Arnaz Sr will always be thought of when Babaloo is played and Judy Garland will always be Dorothy Gale and Over the Rainbow will always be her song!
My mom favorit idle and i admire her too ,real gorgoues and talented actress although iam from current generation but i love classics their time were cozy , love was love God is respected , people respect each other & there were honesty and genuine in everything i feel sorry for our generations and those coming after is we existed in hell era.
We share the same birthday. She was 36 when I was born the same day May 23; 1969. We have in common a blouse she wore with a high collar. My mother made a blouse with ahigh color and there's a pose she made in this documentary. I have a picture of myself in 2011, 2013. THE SAME POSE. AND SHE WORE COLORS THAT I LIKE AND WORE AS WELL. She's gorgeous and resilient. I love and remember Dame Joan Collins as Alexis Carrington 👏🏾but I want to see more of her work when she was younger 🥰😍
I support the nomination for Dame Joan Collins for British Prime Minister - not only does her role as Alexis in Dynasty make her far more suited to the role, despite the fact that she has had huge success in Hollywood, she has never lost touch with her British roots, she is an ardent Monarchist and has been a champion of traditional British Values and she is also very much in touch with current issues - her interviews in which she discussed her political leanings also make her perfectly suited to the role as well 🇮🇪☘️🇬🇧❤️🥰😍😘😘😘
i must say when i watched this show joan collins knew how to play this part of alexis carrington colby this one of my favorite tv night shows and also love dynasty theme of the show to love you joan collins.
Haha my favourite part is when (near the end) her son was saying she loves to act, she loves to live that life and he looked suddenly confused like, 'how is it possible to enjoy living like that?? but there you go.' Lol
I love Liz taylor but stil the movie cleopatra would have been better with less investment and joan in the leading role, somehow i picture her more suitable for that role.
Joan is very beautifully lady on dynasty tv show and I love Joan whole clothes at tv show yess she love color black , white look so good on Joan yes I notices younger men popluras to Joan yess !! Wow
At 21:14 - a shot of Joan and Jackie Collins: does Jackie not look almost exactly like Stephanie Beacham? Maybe they got the idea from Jackie's looks, to use Stephanie as Alexis' "cousin" in Dynasty (and the Colbys).
Not to mention Cassandra-Cassie-CARESS MORELL being an aspiring writer. "Sister Dearest" is a WONDERFUL piece of fiction. (gasp of horror) "You've read it??? I'll see you DEAD for this Alexis!"
More than Liz, or Marilyn, more than Grace or Sophia, - Joan, - I think is undoubtedly the most beautiful actress I've ever enjoyed on screen. And she's obviously not just a pretty face, the girl is a wonderful and consummate actress. Like a genuinely lovely woman, each year that passes, she becomes ever more radiant. I'll have to read her books. It was so weird seeing her son interviewed. I remember hearing the same thing about my own mother, and I just found it, - or I just felt like, - I don't know, it was just so creepy or something. I mean, 'that's' my mom 🥴, it's just weird that's all. Now that I'm grown up though, I guess it's not so weird 😑. Joan's never done a role where she wasn't just striking. She did some British 60's horror film once called "Inn of the Frightened People", one of those lower-budgeted B films I guess, and she just stood-out like sunshine at midnight. All her stuff was so good, because she was in it; I'm just a fan I guess. She is like a 'natural' movie star.
I noticed how the lady narrator kept saying: DEN(nesty) not DYnasty; I never heard it pronounced the way the narrator lady said it before; unless I’ve been pronouncing wrong myself😳😳 anyways nice biography of Joans life!!
I could not ever believe there were women like that ever anywhere, silly painted dollies. But Joan was perfect for the role and Linda Evans was not.!! Her persona would be better for a soap opera girl living in a place called Forrest Hills baking cookies and being a mom of 3. That bat wing hair style was so hilarious and I can't believe she would except something so lame.
@@DIVADUCHESSE Liz Taylor didn’t age well her last 20 years. I actually met her in 1993. My friends and I were not that impressed-a huge amount of over teased hair making her head looking too big for her body. She wore just a ton of make-up (and I love make-up), she’s short AND SHE DOES NOT HAVE VIOLET EYES. They were blue grey.
@@sogorgeous2257 so gorgeous 2 , but what kind of a light did you see her in ? In other words was it sunlight ? Were you indoors ? Also whatever color a person is wearing will be reflecting up to their eyes at certain angles ... or if somebody was right in front of her her wearing bluish-gray , it could have made her eyes look that way .
@@DIVADUCHESSE joan collins has always been a second rate actress for b movies...Elisabeth taylor was a true star, far more beautiful, charismatic and talented.
